  • love this song and the dropkick murphys version but the quality of the video doesnt bring it out :/

  • this cover made this song the best song of them all

along with the fields of athenry

  • This version is one for the purists. It's pure shite.

  • The only thing that was upsetting about this show was despite our calls they didnt play Spicy.

  • Oh jeezus this is fukkin awfull, Luke would turn in his his grave if he heard this shite, yes the Pogues got it but this fukkin Blasphemy

  • Actually Behan, McGowan, Kavanagh would have loved this. Who the hell are you? The last protector of Irish culture? You know nothing about folk music! It's a delicate thing!Weather Irish, Italian, Cajun, Québecois, Scottish, Welsh, Basque it's difficult enough without fools like you talking shite. Fool.

  • Oka, the video and audio quality is horrible like it was taken with cell phone. So if your gonna try and judge something, at least find a clear, high quality video first. This just isn't a good representation of DKM. The Who are good, but just cuz a low quality vid of them is posted, people don't start to question weather they're really good or not. Know what I mean?

  • Purist fags need to stop whining. The fact of the matter is that the Dropkick Murphys took a soft-sounding ballad and gave it some balls, making it better than it's ever been.

  • @EarthNuker

Nobody could ever out do Ronnie. DKM are an awesome band, but the rebel bands of the past will always finish first

  • DKM fuckin runs the show wherever they go. Im so fuckin pissed i couldnt get tickets. sold out before i could :(

  • there not yanks there from Boston dunbshit

  • what do you think yanks are, Boston might be listed as a definition

  • no the definition is a yankees fans

  • my mistake i guess i read him wrong

  • @Mrblack: Ah, you're from Canada. That explains why you have no idea what a yank is. A yank (or yankee) means someone from the northeast of the USA. It takes it from our Civil War: The Northerners were called Yankees.

  • @quadropheniac57, in the UK and Ireland a yank refers to anyone from America and we'll prolly call a Canadian a yank before they correct us and say they're from Canada, then they'll prolly get ignored.

Also, are the Dropkick Murphys even Irish? Or are they "irish-american" which really isn't the same thing no matter how much some people want it to be?

  • i was crowd surfing at this time

  • A terrible version from the murphys, but hey each to their own.

  • what are you on about this is a good rendition on the song, they just changed it for a more punk style, well i think its good , we all have opinions i guess

  • Gremlin speaks truth.

  • How could you do this to such a great song?

I realise people were saying that when The Pogues sung it among other traditional songs, but fuck me least they were fucking original unlike these fucking yanks.

  • Keep your alans on, bucko. They're a good band. Nothing wrong with Yanks with Irish blood in them.

  • Yeah, well also the Pogues obviously understood that it is a melancholy ballade, not this uppity pop-punk shit. Though, I will say, if I was DkMs I would follow this up with choir boys singing waxie's dargle. Then at least the whole thing could come off as the joke it is.

  • Hey you guys you know what i agree with Fion, this is an awesome version (maybe the vid quality isnt so well) if you dont like punk THEN DONT LISTEN TO DKM JESUS STOP SPAMMING IT

  • This is an excellent rendition. I'm not sure what you guys are bitching about. Its conceivable though that if you don't like punk rock then you probably won't like the dropkick murphys, in which case you should probably stop spamming their videos with stupid comments.

  • absolutley great better than Luke Kelly

  • Better than Luke Kelly? I do believe you should be put down for that statement.

  • Good band but nowhere near the standard of Luke and the Dubliners

  • What is wrong with all of you! This is the worst possible version of this song to ever exist. The only way this musical abortion could be improved upon is to smash the cd. Out of all the possible songs they could butcher, did it have to be one of the greatest Irish songs? Luke Kelly is turning in his grave.

  • fuck that was a crazy show,

  • Of these guys, The Dubliners, The Pogues, Flogging Molly, The Clancys, and the other greats of irish music, these guys are by far the worst. Who could listen to this dribble?

  • This is absolutely horrible. They are butchering one of the best songs Luke ever did. Can't believe that people actually like this terrible rendition.

  • This is an insult to the song. The late, great Luke Kelly sang the definitive version.

  • my favorite Song of them !

  • I love that song and i love Dropkick Murphys version.

  • they sound amazing live...the music isn't changed at all

  • My friends saw them live when they came to St. Louis...I was green with envy the whole next day at school. XD But they ARE amazing live.

  • Irish pride :)

  • That is my Favorite song by them... i love it in concert to! They are such an AMAZING band in concert... cuz there songs are easy to memorise, and its more fun when you sing along!

  • i agree, they rock!!

  • the tin whistle sounds a little odd...BUT I WAS THERE AND ON STAGEEEEEE

  • I saw these guys live as the opening act for The Pogues in Dublin and they kicked ass.

  • I liked this. I'd never seen a full video of a song from 'The Warrior's Code' up here.

I have some footgae of 'Good Rats' and 'The Warrior's Code' from last year's ST. PAddy's Day shows..will be up soon
