This is awesome! I love American Psycho. It's one of my favourite comedies! I also love it simply for the depth of character. I still don't quite get the ending though. Did he really kill all those people or were they just fantasies? And why are people constantly calling him by different names? It's so hard to follow a story about an insane homicidal maniac.

The author created him to externalize the terrible feelings he had about the empty life he was leading at the time - an indictment on the self-centered attitudes of the 1980s.
