I was thrilled as a Patriots fan last Sunday, but in total seriousness, I couldn't be happy with the way it ended for Ray. He deserves a final shot. I'll root for the Pats every year, but if they can't make it, I'll root for Ray, Reed and the Ravens. They're winners. Always have been.
Okay, here's the deal: 1) I am a steel-burnished, lifelong Stiller fan, and therefore arch-enemy of all things Raven/Brown; 2) Ray Lewis is a blowhard, overhyped, caricature of himself; 3) the music is indeed cheesy.
And yet... I get chills. The way he holds his hands out like the holy grail, or the Holy Spirit itself is delicately resting in them. The way he is transported into that moment, smiling like a child. The way he emanates a simultaneous calm and exuberance. I'm sold.
@NightmareTeeVee Ray Lewis has been overrated and overhyped for at least three years now. That's not saying he isn't one of the 20 best MLB of all time--it's saying that he's well past his prime, and more bark than bite. Act like you've been there.
Ray already had ownership of George's mind by this time. After this play, however, he owned him mind, body and spirit. On to the Superbowl to add the SB MVP to his Defensive Player of the Year Award (his first of two), and the rest is history...
all these steeler fans keep saying go thru us to win it all it doesn't matter who we go thru to get a sb as long as we get it big deal you went thru us to get urs good job big f u c k i n g deal you won a sb that's all that counts so s t f u and your so called stairway to 7 ain't coming i will guarentee the steelers won't get to the sb for 10 more yrs they are done just like the lakers are done kobe won't even smell another ring let alone get one
ray lewis is my idol... when i played high school football i was number 52. wearing his number reminded me whenever i was tired to man up or ray would be disappointed hahaha. man those were the days. love you ray!
MAD respect for Lewis BUT man do I hate you sometimes! George vs Lewis was an great rival! Better team won that day! We soo could have gone to the Super Bowl again too!
if any ravens fan that continues to make ridiculous comments about how the steelers suck can name a game since this super bowl where the ravens beat the steelers and it counted for something OTHER than just the win (needed it for a division championship, playoff positioning, or was the actual playoffs) i will give you five internet dollars. for example, your win early this past season does not count because it didn't amount to anything else significant within the context of the season.
"and after tj dropped that 4th down pass, i just remember everyone in heinz field putting their fingers up to their mouth, telling the entire ravens bench to be quiet...cuz y'all done."
@steeltribe16 and when the steelers choked in the superbowl, the packer fans put their fingers to their mouth, tellin the entire steeler team to be quiet, cuz ya`ll done
@Ballinbaby306603 ah yes, cause we all know how die hard of a packers fan you must be, which really makes your comment hit home and hurt more than it should.
@steeltribe16 make some senseeee pleaseee !! ur the one who comes on here shyt talking its kinda funny i love how u took the time to come onto a raven video to talk smack. clearly u have no life douche
@r4v3n5m4n14c52 no they aren't, they're the old cleveland browns. they aren't a true expansion team. houston is an expansion team. the new browns are an expansion team. the ravens are just a relocated team.
@Ballinbaby306603 well i am a steelers fan and im am entitled to defend them although i do respect ray lewis at least we didnt lose with a 21-7 lead asshole
@Ballinbaby306603 funny thing you keep using one superbowl loss as an excuse when theynaer embarassed the ravens lost but hey at least your team doesnt trashtalk like rex ryan
@Ballinbaby306603 we made it to the show by owning raven ass you faggot so take that 1 superbowl and shove it up your ass kid, we got 6 of em and since your a homo they all might fit along with your shitty 1
@bottomsbaby ahaha its so funny how dumb ass steeler fans come onto a ray lewis video and try to talk shyt, 6 superbowlsss ooo wowww thatss soo awsome congrats jackass, the steelers are one of the oldest teams, no shyt they are gonna have more superbowls, stop living in the past. if u hate ray lewis so much why the hell are u watching his video ahahahah
Fuck the Titans, I ain't no Ravens fan but the shit the fans were yelling at Ray before the game and the signs some of them were holding were classless. Karma is a pain in the ass, I felt good for Ray when he made this play and shut the whole stadium up. Maybe if you fans had as half as much class as ur head coach you wouldn't be consistently choking in the playoffs.
So what were talking about three mediocre QB that had mediocre careers. The more you have to go out of your way to make Earl Morrall look like a star QB the more you back up my point. The only success he had in his career was with Don Shula in Baltimore and Miami. Don Shula one of the Top 3-5 Head Coaches of all time. Can we stop talking about Earl Morrall or are you still running to be President of his Fan Club.
@FRSFreeState uh did i say earl was a star? nope did i say he won a super bowl and led his team to a super bowl? yep. did he do that? yep did erik kramer or scott mitchell do that? nope. end of story. bottom line is you were trying to compare earl to scott mitchell and erik kramer......bad idea they both sucked and always have and no one has EVER took them serious. whether earl played for shula or not did he get the job done? yes. shula had other QBs and they didnt get the job done.
No but you've been going out of your way to defend him a QB that played 21 seasons and had a couple of good years. He was a mediocre QB that only had success under Don Shula one of the best Head Coaches ever. He won a SB as a Backup QB you didn't mention that. If Kramer and Mitchell "sucked" so did Morrall because the three of them had similar success. Its just that Earl Morrall played like to more seasons.
@FRSFreeState this is what you keep forgetting.....no one cares about your stats and the rest of the stuff that only fantasy players care about...players and coaches only care about wins..championships...regardless if earl was a back up or a starter he won games...the only people that care about who starts are fantasy geeks. if earl was that bad im sure there were hundreds of other QBs that could start as a back up but even shula knew earl could get it done thats why shula brought him to miami.
@FRSFreeState it makes barry that much better just like walter payton, earl campbell and some others...they were great despite that much of the time their teams stunk or were mediocre and yes the bears were mediocre for much of payton's career.
@FRSFreeState when teams knew he was the only threat the lions had they still couldnt stop him. he had mediocre talent around him and most of the talent was hit or miss. the lions had horrible coaching the O-line was shotty...barry retired because he wanted to he didnt go from great to mediocre like emmitt did....when barry retired he still could have played another 6 or 7 years and emmitt wouldnt have gotten close to the record. put emmitt in detroit and hes often injured.
Horrible coaching? The Lions had a Winning Record in Barry's career and made the Playoffs 6 times in 8 seasons from 1991-98 in Barry's career. You don't accomplish that with "Horrible Coaching". If Barry had it so bad in Detroit he could've left through a Trade of Free Agency. He didn't want to leave.
@FRSFreeState so you're a wayne fontes/bobby ross fan? you do know that 8-8 is playoff worthy in the pros (which is what detroit averaged) but there is a difference between a 8-8 playoff team and a 12-4 playoff teams which is what dallas was majority of the time during the 90s. dallas was a mainstay with home games and first round byes why?? Because they had a better TEAM.....barry tried to leave thats why he retired because bobby ross and Ford wouldnt release him or trade him....
Dude I'm just being objective here I don't have either RB in my Top 10. I would say that Wayne Fontes inherited an annual loser and turn them into consistent winners and a consistent Playoff team. Horrible Coaches with mediocre talent don't accomplish that. As far as Bobby Ross goes even though I am a Maryland fan Bobby Ross was both a successful FBS and NFL Coach. Thats impressive to.
How may 8-8 Lions teams made the Playoffs in the Barry Sanders era?
@FRSFreeState i said the lions averaged 8 wins..the lions would win 9 games then 5 then win 10 then win 5 thats whats called inconsistent..during barry's years there they only averaged about 7 1/2 wins. from 1991 to 1998 the lions won 12, 5, 10, 9, 10, 5, 9, 5 in barry's rookie year to 1990 they won 4, 7, and 6 games....now compare that to dallas who from emmitt's rookie year in 1990 won 7 games then went on a streak....in 7 of the next 8 years the cowboys won at least 10 games....enuff said.
As I've already told you Emmitt clearly played on better teams but they both played on winning Playoff teams. And both played with good players.
You say Barry was a better RB but you haven't said why, you just tried to use things against Emmitt Smith. About the great teams he played. Well a lot of great RB have played on great teams. But its what they do there that is what their judged by.
@FRSFreeState sorry dude both were not good teams....detroit couldnt make it out the wild card round the cowboys were playing with first round byes. the cowboys had guys like charles haley, deion sanders, darren woodson...the lions had robert porche LOL!!!! it isnt even close. i already said why barry was better...its just like why john elway is better....doing more with less. winning playoff teams? when were the lions a consistent playoff winner?
You mean Barry doing more with less ability then Emmitt? I agree Emmitt Smith had more ability then Barry Sanders. Emmitt was a better Inside Runner, better Blocker and a better Receiver. Emmitt Smith was a 4 down RB.
There''s more to being a great RB then breaking long TD Runs and losing Yardage. Which is sorta what Barry Sanders is remembered for. Not much of a Legacy.
@FRSFreeState not much for a legacy? was barry a back that was known to not be able to block? or catch? i think not. barry also played without a fullback. barry was not designated as an outside runner or inside runner he was all over the field inside and breaking it outside....you didnt see barry only running outside LOL! barry wasnt designated because he could do it all....hand it to him and watch him run.
Emmitt was a better blocker, receiver and inside runner then Barry. Anyone who looks at this objectively and is familiar with both RB will tell you that. Barry is known for long runs and losing yardage.
@FRSFreeState he must have had a lot of long runs to mass that many yards....that doesnt even make sense.....you been watching too many old NFL films and apparently didnt watch the games if that was the case barry wouldnt have 30 carry games and would have plenty of 250 yard games with all those so called long runs. barry averaged 300+ attempts for his career barry made people miss thats why he had long runs. making people miss afforded barry to not get bruised and beat up. he avg 5 yards a pop.
If you just took the time to read my comments you'd be able to respond to them better. I said Barry is known for long runs and losing yardage. I didn't say thats the only thing he did. Which you implied.
@FRSFreeState thats a sarcastic comment when i said he must have had a lot of long runs. if barry was nothing but long runs he would not have averaged 300 attempts a season for his career. the fact that barry made people miss is why he had long runs his runs were inside runs bounced to the outside. barry was a between the tackles and guards runner it didnt matter where barry got it and it doesnt matter if he lost yards he still had 15k in 10 years. enuff said.
That may be true about the long runs but there's more to being a RB then breaking off a long run every game or every other game. Which is why Walter Payton gets the respect he does. Maybe Barry was more of a HB then a RB.
@FRSFreeState all i can say is its not barry's fault that they couldnt stop or contain him...lets not forget what he did to rod woodson. maybe barry was more of a half back but walter payton had some long runs also.
Actually I remember Barry getting stopped or contained quite a bit. I got to see every year of his career. I can't recall one big Playoff game he had and he played in 7 of them.
@FRSFreeState you're right he played in 7 WHOLE PLAYOFF GAMES Lol...98% of them were wild card games against better teams and most of them were on the road...thats what happens when erik kramer and scott mitchell is your QB...we're talking about a lions team whos all time leading passer is still BOBBY LAYNE!!! i think bobby layne retired before color TV. barry had 1 bad playoff game in his career in other games he avg. 65 yds a game due to low carries he wasnt even getting 25 carries a game.
7 Playoff games is more then a lot of other great RB and he didn't have a great one. You don't speak to the greatness of Barry as a RB. All you do is make excuses about his teams. Is that because you can't?
@FRSFreeState i coulda swore he ran for about 160 against green bay in 1993. yet the team lost..now why was that? could have something to do with having erik kramer at QB who if you remember correctly threw a pick to george teague in the red zone that teague ran back 100 yards in that game..its not an excuse that barry's teams sucked THATS FACT! 1 PLAYOFF win? oh sure thats barry's fault although we know that the lions only won 10 games 3 times in his career barry did his job EVERY YEAR.
Here's a fact for you teams that make the NFL Playoffs 6 times in a decade and 6-9 years don't suck. Barry played in 7 Playoff games and you come up with one.
@FRSFreeState reflection...the NFC Central was one of the worst divisions in the NFL it was easy to make the playoffs with a 9-7 record or 8-8 record...lets not make it like the teams in that division were going deep in the playoffs, the packers didnt go deep till 1995....the stats speak for themselves, barry was only getting 17 carries a game in his playoff games they were passing the ball and throwing picks as usual. did you watch the games???? the lions were a mediocre TEAM.
Your now starting to sound like a blind person. Your shooting in the dark hoping to hit something.
Let me fill in on something the NFC Central in the 90's had three teams make the playoffs on a regular basis. Packers, Vikings who were both SB Contenders as well as the Lions and even "da Bears. In 1994 the NFC Central sent 4 teams to the Playoffs. 1993 3, 1995 3, 1997 3, 1999 3. You can't have a bad division when 3-4 out of 5 teams in one division make the Playoffs.
@FRSFreeState let us not forget this was when the there was only 3 divisions and not 4 so back then you could have more than 2 teams make the playoffs from 1 division..a regular basis? well lets see the bears made the playoffs 3 times in the 90s and only won 10+ games twice....the vikings were mediocre till 1998, the packers were mediocre till 1995 and we all know what detroit did...the bottom line is the only team that made an impact was green bay until the vikings did something in 1998.
@FRSFreeState those teams were getting in the playoffs with 8-8 or 9-7 records!! they were not getting first round byes they were not a threat..the packers were THE ONLY TEAM THAT WAS A THREAT..until the vikings became one in 1998 the rest of that conference was and still is mediocre it has always been a mediocre conference since the 70s and 80s..NFC EAST RAN FOOTBALL for 20 years. the cowboys, giants and redskins all won superbowls in the 90s the nfc central was a punching bag....except 1 year.
For example, that kinda blows up your argument about weak division when 4-5 teams are competing to make the Playoffs on a regular basis. When only 6-15 make it from each Conference.
@FRSFreeState it doesnt blow up my argument because there was only 3 divisions back then not 4...there were years when the cowboys, giants and redskins made the playoffs thats what happens when you only got 3 divisions to choose from. you wont see that now with 4 divisions the most you will see is 2 from a division and 3 by a looooooong shot.
What does 3 or 4 divisions have to do with the price of gas? You said the NFC Central sucked yet more then half of they're teams consistently made the NFC Playoffs. Thats called a contradiction.
Again you just don't have the facts. Past 93 the Cowboys except for maybe the Eagles who had similar Playoff success as the Lions. Were the only NFC East team to consistently make the NFC Playoffs. Unlike the Lion who made it 6-9 including right after Barry retired. All facts.
@FRSFreeState if 6 teams from a conference make the playoffs each year and their is only 3 divisions...guess what? from year to year depending on how bad a division is SOMEONE HAS TO GO!!!! past 93? wait a minute this is based around barry's career and his playoff years which began in 91' you cant skip to 93' because that screws your point all up. the giants, skins and cowboys all won super bowls...and won them IN A ROW!!!!
I make a simple point but somehow you find a way to miss it.
My point is that the Central had 3 teams make the NFC Playoffs on a regular basis and 4 teams out of 5 in contention on a regular basis. Including da Bears. When you have 3-4 going to or making the Playoffs that often, thats a pretty good division. There goes your argument up in smoke about the Central.
Neither the Redskins or Giants had a very good decade after winning the SB early on the 1st two. You must know that.
@FRSFreeState your point is pointless for the simple fact that 1 reason the NFC central sent that many teams to the playoffs is because there was only 3 DIVISIONS!!!! its happened in other divisions before. you just made my point when you said "neither the giants or redskins had a good decade"....SOOOOOO IF THEY ARE NOT WINNING THEN WHERE ARE THE OTHER TEAMS GOING TO COME FROM???????? we know its not coming from the west, the 9ers were the only consistent team from that division.
Not the NFC East for the whole decade, just the Cowboys which is my point. Your throwing darts at the wall hoping one sticks. Instead of doing the research to see what actually happened. I know you love Barry but you don't have the facts.
@FRSFreeState the NFC EAST won 4 straight super bowls with 3 different teams....not made the playoffs not were wild card teams that were not threats...THEY ACTUALLY WON THE SUPER BOWL! i dont need to do any research.. the NFC EAST has the most super bowls for a division its called history....at that time they had the best coaches in football (parcell, johnson, gibbs) barry is not my favorite back..but i know better. the NFC central was mediocre till 95'
One team won two of those. The Giants didn't make the Playoffs in 91 after they won SB 25. The Redskins barely made the Playoffs in 92 thanks to the Vikings after they won SB 26. The Cowboys were the only NFC East team to make the playoffs more then they missed in the 90's. How you not know this. Stop shooting in the dark and do some research.
@FRSFreeState i really dont care how many missed the playoffs the bottom line is they won 3 super bowls in a row with 3 different teams!!! HAS THAT BEEN DONE BEFORE OR SINCE? one of the reasons the skins went down hill is because gibbs retired....there is no shooting in the dark you just like to skip past stuff to try to make your points thats why you started your post with "since 1993" because you knew damn well the NFC east dominated the decade. if you're going to tell the story tell it right.
Here's more reason why the Redskins my team went downhill just to have a full record. I'm a Die Hard Redskin fan. They were unprepared for the Salary Cap and Free Agency. And were aging fast and had to dump a lot of salary that they still haven't replaced almost 20 years later. Same thing with the Giants.
By the way the Cardinals who only made the Playoffs once in the 90's were 9-7 in 98 and finished 2nd in the NFC East. If you want to bash divisions take a look at the NFC East.
@FRSFreeState im a redskin fan also so believe me i know why they went down...dude im not just bashing the central i said that other divisions had a time where they sent 3 teams to the playoffs..i know that in the mid 90s the east died off as a division but putting in 8-8 or 9-7 teams doesnt make you a good division it just makes you a mediocre one.
So perhaps you bias against Emmitt because your a Redskin fan hum, just asking? Why did the Redskins go down? Were you even old enough to watch and understand the NFL at this point? Really what other NFC Division had 3 teams make the Playoffs more then they missed it in the 90's? Sorry I already know the answer? How many other NFC Divisions then the NFC Central sent 4 teams not once but twice to the Playoffs in the 90's? Actually it was by 93 when the NFC East went downhill.
@FRSFreeState was i even old enough?? put it this way i was old enough to see doug williams win the super bowl in 87' so believe me i was old enough to see richie pettibone drive the skins into the ground. im not a cowboy hater i grew up watching them my dad is a cowboy fan so i dont hate them i hate the giants more than anything.
Not trying to offend but you do say a lot of things that suggest you either don't know any better like being real young. Or your giving away your bias and ignoring other facts.
@FRSFreeState im not bias....believe me i know for a fact that emmitt was one of the greatest backs of all time and yes there is an argument that he could be the best of all time but to just say so because he has the record is just irresponsible. you have to look at the entire picture and i have to say that when i look at the team the cowboys had...some of those teams have been considered to be the best of all time...barry had some good teams but were they really a threat? i think not.
@FRSFreeState the early 90s was ran by the NFC east and when joe gibbs and parcells left they both fell off so guess what? the cowboys had their way for basically 7 or 8 years...the cardinals at that time were in the east and we know they were not in the playoffs till 98' so who else is there? 49ers and every now and then atlanta...with only 3 divisions per conference it was easy to get 3 or 4 teams in...8-8 and 9-7 was a wild card unlike today with 4 divisions.
A couple of years is not a decade FYI. My point is about the decade as a whole and the Cowboys ran the NFC East and were the only consistent NFC Playoff team from that decade. Unlike the NFC Central that had 3 consistent Playoff teams including the Lions in that decade. So you saying that the NFC Central sucked is simply wrong. You don't have the facts pal you need to do more research.
How many NFC Central 8-8 teams made the Playoffs in the 90's? They sent 3 teams to the playoffs from 93-95. 4 teams to the Playoffs twice 94-99. Apparently your unaware of the Packers and Vikings. Give it up the NFC Central wasn't a bad division. These are facts.
@FRSFreeState the lions in 1999 made the playoffs with a 8-8 record. they made the playoffs twice with a 9-7 record..the vikings made the playoffs with a 9-7 record 3 TIMES!! they went 8-8 two other times but didnt make the playoffs. the packers made the playoffs twice with 9-7 records and the bears made the playoffs once with a 9-7 record....thats 9 playoff teams with an 8-8 or 9-7 record..that= medocrity..meanwhile the NFC won 3 straight SBs with 3 different teams. gibbs and parcells retired.
Thanks for your honesty thats right one time in 1999 when when the NFC Central once again sent 3 teams to the Playoff. The Lions were 8-8 but had a better record in 99 and made the Playoffs without Barry they're best player. Some valuable player they had other talent around him. FYI the Cowboys were also 8-8 in 99 but they also made the Playoffs.
You right about the 3 SB but that was early in the decade after that the Cowboys owned a mediocre division.
@FRSFreeState really so you are basically giving credit to a .500 team???? how many 8-8 teams have won playoff games? i dont have a clue how many but i can guarantee that number is REALLY small....going 8-8 is not a good thing and its an indictment on your division....8-8??? REALLY? im sure if the lions had barry they would have gone 10-6 at least.
What you base that on, all I'm saying is that the NFC Central which you apparently like to bash wasn't the only division to send 9-7 or 8-8 teams to the Playoffs. But at least they had 3 teams that consistently made the Playoffs. Unlike the NFC East where it was the Cowboys and maybe someone else competing for the other spot.
So if the Lions who had a better record in 99 without Barry then they were in 98 with Barry. Would've been better either way in 99.
So now the NFC Central was mediocre which is a step up from sucking. My point here is if your going to go out of your way to bash the NFC Central of the 90's. Then you should bash the NFC East as well and bash the NFC West. Who only had once consistent Playoff team in the 90's the 49ers. You could make a case that the 49ers had all the success they did in the 90's. Because they had 6 games they could count on winning every year in they're division.
@FRSFreeState actually mediocre and sucking are cousins....in my book making the playoffs as an 8-8 team or a 9-7 team BACK THEN was not good it just meant they needed some teams to fill the bracket but if they had their way they would have never made the playoffs...being 8-8 or 9-7 back then was basically saying we're a year away and if we dont win next year the coach will get his ass canned. the 49ers would have won regardless what division they were in. they were that good.
OK I guess I need to fill you in again, mediocre is average, 7-9 wins lets say. Sucking is sucking when you have no shot at accomplishing anything lets say 5 wins or less. You should look up the definition of mediocre. I think the 49ers were great to but they're division helped them out a lot.
@FRSFreeState if mediocre is 7-9 then what is 8-8? that just means you won all your home games basically..that means you are not consistent...9-7 says the same thing.
@FRSFreeState well yeah the bengals of the 90s sucked but the line is not thin when you look at an 8-8 team or a 9-7 team that makes the playoffs against a team that is 13-3 or whatever the cowboys record was back then. look at the league today we have about 5 or 6 teams that could honestly make the playoffs in the 90s with 10-6 records and they will miss the playoffs this year.
See you were doing so well there but then your biased creep back in. If you asked Barry himself he wouldn't say that the Lions sucked back then. Your comparing teams that win 8-10 games with teams that win 4. Thats a difference of 4-6 games which is a quarter of a season. Can't you tell the difference?
@FRSFreeState of course barry wouldnt because he poured out his blood, sweat and tears..the detroit lions of the 90s are the denver broncos or dallas cowboys since 2001 they are IDENTICAL to the lions in the 90s when barry was there...won some games but was mediocre.
@FRSFreeState mediocre and sucking are cousins LOL!!! im a redskin fan...i know what mediocre is....we've been mediocre since 1991 and borderline sucking..the lions were mediocre but lets not forget that this is compared to the 90s cowboys....its like night and day and its just because of emmitt smith. just like the lions were not mediocre based on barry...the boys had hall of famers all over and the lions had....erik kramer..
I'm not sure where you get that or in what language. But tell you what seeing its Christmas I'll help you out. Here's an english lesson for you. Mediocre means average nothing special. Take the Lions of the 90's for example. 6 Playoff Appearances but not a great record. Suck is awful really bad take the Bengals of the 90's for example.
Again your either bias or lack of knowledge is showing. If you look at Emmit Smith and Barry Sanders as football players honestly and objectively. Emmit is clearly the better player, better Inside Runner, tougher, better blocker and a better WR. I believe you've been focusing on they're teams instead of the RB because you know this.
@FRSFreeState i bashed the nfc central because its the most overrated division in football....people think the nfc central is good because of what they did 50 years ago. the nfc central has 2 super bowl winning teams since the packers won it in 67' the nfc east is better and while the skins and giants did take a dip in the mid and late 90s they still got rings...the lions stunk with barry and without they had sub par seasons with barry but thats what happens when you have impostors at QB.
Thats fine but they made the Playoffs more with multiple teams then the NFC East in the 90's. So lets get past this idea that one division sucked and the other didn't. You can't suck when you make the playoffs 6-9 years and are competing with 2-3 other teams in your division to accomplish that.
@FRSFreeState yeah im sure they did make the playoffs more than the nfc east did but no one will remember it because time and time again they did NOTHING in the playoffs they were not a threat to any of the teams..
Why you keep bringing up that the Lions weren't as good as the other teams, thats obvious. You said they suck which is different. So not being as good and sucking are two different things. I realize that Barry is your boy but your facts aren't there.
@FRSFreeState actually barry isnt even my favorite running back by a long shot but i know better than to say something ignorant as he is not better than emmitt smith..my favorite running back was walter payton. the lions did suck...suck means you go to the playoffs one year then the very next you cant even win 6 games...thats called sucking.
The ignorance is on your part because your saying things that you don't know are true. Another way of putting it is called shooting in the dark. Its one thing to say you like another RB more. Its another to say he's better then another.
cuz ya'll are done hahahahahahahahahahahahahha oh yeah baby ya'll are done then and gonna be done this year when you play us ahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!
Wow...if you think about it, this was the straw that broke Eddie George's back. Up through this moment, he was a RB most people feared. After this disaster, he suddenly hit that RB plateau we see almost all the great ones hit and slid into obscurity.
titans outgained ravens in total yardage over 3 to 1 dominated...titans beat themselves that day...that titan team was even better than the 99 team that went to the super bowl..but that's sports...best team doesnt always win that day.
Ray Lewis is great but he sounds crazy... i definitely would not step into his limo... Psycho Killer Qu'est-ce que c'estfa fa fa fa fa fa fa fa fa fa better
i feel sorry for ray when they lost against the patriots

Act like you've been there.

if any ravens fan that continues to make ridiculous comments about how the steelers suck can name a game since this super bowl where the ravens beat the steelers and it counted for something OTHER than just the win (needed it for a division championship, playoff positioning, or was the actual playoffs) i will give you five internet dollars. for example, your win early this past season does not count because it didn't amount to anything else significant within the context of the season.

FRSFreeState 1 year ago
@FRSFreeState uh did i say earl was a star? nope did i say he won a super bowl and led his team to a super bowl? yep. did he do that? yep did erik kramer or scott mitchell do that? nope. end of story. bottom line is you were trying to compare earl to scott mitchell and erik kramer......bad idea they both sucked and always have and no one has EVER took them serious. whether earl played for shula or not did he get the job done? yes. shula had other QBs and they didnt get the job done.
getyoasshome 1 year ago
@getyoasshome
FRSFreeState 1 year ago
@FRSFreeState this is what you keep forgetting.....no one cares about your stats and the rest of the stuff that only fantasy players care about...players and coaches only care about wins..championships...regardless if earl was a back up or a starter he won games...the only people that care about who starts are fantasy geeks. if earl was that bad im sure there were hundreds of other QBs that could start as a back up but even shula knew earl could get it done thats why shula brought him to miami.

@getyoasshome
Well if you believe this then don't use Barry's career numbers to make his case when putting him up against Emmitt or any other great RB in History.
FRSFreeState 1 year ago
@FRSFreeState it makes barry that much better just like walter payton, earl campbell and some others...they were great despite that much of the time their teams stunk or were mediocre and yes the bears were mediocre for much of payton's career.
getyoasshome 1 year ago
@getyoasshome
What make Barry that much better?
FRSFreeState 1 year ago
@FRSFreeState when teams knew he was the only threat the lions had they still couldnt stop him. he had mediocre talent around him and most of the talent was hit or miss. the lions had horrible coaching the O-line was shotty...barry retired because he wanted to he didnt go from great to mediocre like emmitt did....when barry retired he still could have played another 6 or 7 years and emmitt wouldnt have gotten close to the record. put emmitt in detroit and hes often injured.
getyoasshome 1 year ago
@getyoasshome
FRSFreeState 1 year ago
@FRSFreeState so you're a wayne fontes/bobby ross fan? you do know that 8-8 is playoff worthy in the pros (which is what detroit averaged) but there is a difference between a 8-8 playoff team and a 12-4 playoff teams which is what dallas was majority of the time during the 90s. dallas was a mainstay with home games and first round byes why?? Because they had a better TEAM.....barry tried to leave thats why he retired because bobby ross and Ford wouldnt release him or trade him....
getyoasshome 1 year ago
@getyoasshome
FRSFreeState 1 year ago
@FRSFreeState i said the lions averaged 8 wins..the lions would win 9 games then 5 then win 10 then win 5 thats whats called inconsistent..during barry's years there they only averaged about 7 1/2 wins. from 1991 to 1998 the lions won 12, 5, 10, 9, 10, 5, 9, 5 in barry's rookie year to 1990 they won 4, 7, and 6 games....now compare that to dallas who from emmitt's rookie year in 1990 won 7 games then went on a streak....in 7 of the next 8 years the cowboys won at least 10 games....enuff said.
getyoasshome 1 year ago
@getyoasshome
FRSFreeState 1 year ago
@FRSFreeState sorry dude both were not good teams....detroit couldnt make it out the wild card round the cowboys were playing with first round byes. the cowboys had guys like charles haley, deion sanders, darren woodson...the lions had robert porche LOL!!!! it isnt even close. i already said why barry was better...its just like why john elway is better....doing more with less. winning playoff teams? when were the lions a consistent playoff winner?
getyoasshome 1 year ago
@getyoasshome
FRSFreeState 1 year ago
@FRSFreeState not much for a legacy? was barry a back that was known to not be able to block? or catch? i think not. barry also played without a fullback. barry was not designated as an outside runner or inside runner he was all over the field inside and breaking it outside....you didnt see barry only running outside LOL! barry wasnt designated because he could do it all....hand it to him and watch him run.
getyoasshome 1 year ago
@getyoasshome
Emmitt was a better blocker, receiver and inside runner then Barry. Anyone who looks at this objectively and is familiar with both RB will tell you that. Barry is known for long runs and losing yardage.
FRSFreeState 1 year ago
@FRSFreeState he must have had a lot of long runs to mass that many yards....that doesnt even make sense.....you been watching too many old NFL films and apparently didnt watch the games if that was the case barry wouldnt have 30 carry games and would have plenty of 250 yard games with all those so called long runs. barry averaged 300+ attempts for his career barry made people miss thats why he had long runs. making people miss afforded barry to not get bruised and beat up. he avg 5 yards a pop.
getyoasshome 1 year ago
@getyoasshome
If you just took the time to read my comments you'd be able to respond to them better. I said Barry is known for long runs and losing yardage. I didn't say thats the only thing he did. Which you implied.
FRSFreeState 1 year ago
@FRSFreeState thats a sarcastic comment when i said he must have had a lot of long runs. if barry was nothing but long runs he would not have averaged 300 attempts a season for his career. the fact that barry made people miss is why he had long runs his runs were inside runs bounced to the outside. barry was a between the tackles and guards runner it didnt matter where barry got it and it doesnt matter if he lost yards he still had 15k in 10 years. enuff said.
getyoasshome 1 year ago
@getyoasshome
That may be true about the long runs but there's more to being a RB then breaking off a long run every game or every other game. Which is why Walter Payton gets the respect he does. Maybe Barry was more of a HB then a RB.
FRSFreeState 1 year ago
@FRSFreeState all i can say is its not barry's fault that they couldnt stop or contain him...lets not forget what he did to rod woodson. maybe barry was more of a half back but walter payton had some long runs also.
getyoasshome 1 year ago
@getyoasshome
Actually I remember Barry getting stopped or contained quite a bit. I got to see every year of his career. I can't recall one big Playoff game he had and he played in 7 of them.
FRSFreeState 1 year ago
@FRSFreeState you're right he played in 7 WHOLE PLAYOFF GAMES Lol...98% of them were wild card games against better teams and most of them were on the road...thats what happens when erik kramer and scott mitchell is your QB...we're talking about a lions team whos all time leading passer is still BOBBY LAYNE!!! i think bobby layne retired before color TV. barry had 1 bad playoff game in his career in other games he avg. 65 yds a game due to low carries he wasnt even getting 25 carries a game.
getyoasshome 1 year ago
@getyoasshome
7 Playoff games is more then a lot of other great RB and he didn't have a great one. You don't speak to the greatness of Barry as a RB. All you do is make excuses about his teams. Is that because you can't?
FRSFreeState 1 year ago
@FRSFreeState i coulda swore he ran for about 160 against green bay in 1993. yet the team lost..now why was that? could have something to do with having erik kramer at QB who if you remember correctly threw a pick to george teague in the red zone that teague ran back 100 yards in that game..its not an excuse that barry's teams sucked THATS FACT! 1 PLAYOFF win? oh sure thats barry's fault although we know that the lions only won 10 games 3 times in his career barry did his job EVERY YEAR.
getyoasshome 1 year ago
@getyoasshome
Here's a fact for you teams that make the NFL Playoffs 6 times in a decade and 6-9 years don't suck. Barry played in 7 Playoff games and you come up with one.
FRSFreeState 1 year ago
@FRSFreeState reflection...the NFC Central was one of the worst divisions in the NFL it was easy to make the playoffs with a 9-7 record or 8-8 record...lets not make it like the teams in that division were going deep in the playoffs, the packers didnt go deep till 1995....the stats speak for themselves, barry was only getting 17 carries a game in his playoff games they were passing the ball and throwing picks as usual. did you watch the games???? the lions were a mediocre TEAM.
getyoasshome 1 year ago
@getyoasshome
FRSFreeState 1 year ago
@FRSFreeState let us not forget this was when the there was only 3 divisions and not 4 so back then you could have more than 2 teams make the playoffs from 1 division..a regular basis? well lets see the bears made the playoffs 3 times in the 90s and only won 10+ games twice....the vikings were mediocre till 1998, the packers were mediocre till 1995 and we all know what detroit did...the bottom line is the only team that made an impact was green bay until the vikings did something in 1998.
getyoasshome 1 year ago
@FRSFreeState those teams were getting in the playoffs with 8-8 or 9-7 records!! they were not getting first round byes they were not a threat..the packers were THE ONLY TEAM THAT WAS A THREAT..until the vikings became one in 1998 the rest of that conference was and still is mediocre it has always been a mediocre conference since the 70s and 80s..NFC EAST RAN FOOTBALL for 20 years. the cowboys, giants and redskins all won superbowls in the 90s the nfc central was a punching bag....except 1 year.
getyoasshome 1 year ago
@getyoasshome
For example, that kinda blows up your argument about weak division when 4-5 teams are competing to make the Playoffs on a regular basis. When only 6-15 make it from each Conference.
FRSFreeState 1 year ago
@FRSFreeState it doesnt blow up my argument because there was only 3 divisions back then not 4...there were years when the cowboys, giants and redskins made the playoffs thats what happens when you only got 3 divisions to choose from. you wont see that now with 4 divisions the most you will see is 2 from a division and 3 by a looooooong shot.
getyoasshome 1 year ago
@getyoasshome
All facts.
FRSFreeState 1 year ago
@FRSFreeState if 6 teams from a conference make the playoffs each year and their is only 3 divisions...guess what? from year to year depending on how bad a division is SOMEONE HAS TO GO!!!! past 93? wait a minute this is based around barry's career and his playoff years which began in 91' you cant skip to 93' because that screws your point all up. the giants, skins and cowboys all won super bowls...and won them IN A ROW!!!!
getyoasshome 1 year ago
@getyoasshome
FRSFreeState 1 year ago
@FRSFreeState your point is pointless for the simple fact that 1 reason the NFC central sent that many teams to the playoffs is because there was only 3 DIVISIONS!!!! its happened in other divisions before. you just made my point when you said "neither the giants or redskins had a good decade"....SOOOOOO IF THEY ARE NOT WINNING THEN WHERE ARE THE OTHER TEAMS GOING TO COME FROM???????? we know its not coming from the west, the 9ers were the only consistent team from that division.
getyoasshome 1 year ago
@getyoasshome
Not the NFC East for the whole decade, just the Cowboys which is my point. Your throwing darts at the wall hoping one sticks. Instead of doing the research to see what actually happened. I know you love Barry but you don't have the facts.
FRSFreeState 1 year ago
@FRSFreeState the NFC EAST won 4 straight super bowls with 3 different teams....not made the playoffs not were wild card teams that were not threats...THEY ACTUALLY WON THE SUPER BOWL! i dont need to do any research.. the NFC EAST has the most super bowls for a division its called history....at that time they had the best coaches in football (parcell, johnson, gibbs) barry is not my favorite back..but i know better. the NFC central was mediocre till 95'
getyoasshome 1 year ago
@getyoasshome
FRSFreeState 1 year ago
@FRSFreeState i really dont care how many missed the playoffs the bottom line is they won 3 super bowls in a row with 3 different teams!!! HAS THAT BEEN DONE BEFORE OR SINCE? one of the reasons the skins went down hill is because gibbs retired....there is no shooting in the dark you just like to skip past stuff to try to make your points thats why you started your post with "since 1993" because you knew damn well the NFC east dominated the decade. if you're going to tell the story tell it right.
getyoasshome 1 year ago
@getyoasshome
FRSFreeState 1 year ago
@FRSFreeState im a redskin fan also so believe me i know why they went down...dude im not just bashing the central i said that other divisions had a time where they sent 3 teams to the playoffs..i know that in the mid 90s the east died off as a division but putting in 8-8 or 9-7 teams doesnt make you a good division it just makes you a mediocre one.
getyoasshome 1 year ago
@getyoasshome
FRSFreeState 1 year ago
@FRSFreeState was i even old enough?? put it this way i was old enough to see doug williams win the super bowl in 87' so believe me i was old enough to see richie pettibone drive the skins into the ground. im not a cowboy hater i grew up watching them my dad is a cowboy fan so i dont hate them i hate the giants more than anything.
getyoasshome 1 year ago
@getyoasshome
Not trying to offend but you do say a lot of things that suggest you either don't know any better like being real young. Or your giving away your bias and ignoring other facts.
FRSFreeState 1 year ago
@FRSFreeState im not bias....believe me i know for a fact that emmitt was one of the greatest backs of all time and yes there is an argument that he could be the best of all time but to just say so because he has the record is just irresponsible. you have to look at the entire picture and i have to say that when i look at the team the cowboys had...some of those teams have been considered to be the best of all time...barry had some good teams but were they really a threat? i think not.
getyoasshome 1 year ago
@getyoasshome
You finally coming around
FRSFreeState 1 year ago
@FRSFreeState the early 90s was ran by the NFC east and when joe gibbs and parcells left they both fell off so guess what? the cowboys had their way for basically 7 or 8 years...the cardinals at that time were in the east and we know they were not in the playoffs till 98' so who else is there? 49ers and every now and then atlanta...with only 3 divisions per conference it was easy to get 3 or 4 teams in...8-8 and 9-7 was a wild card unlike today with 4 divisions.
getyoasshome 1 year ago
@getyoasshome

@getyoasshome
FRSFreeState 1 year ago
@FRSFreeState really so you are basically giving credit to a .500 team???? how many 8-8 teams have won playoff games? i dont have a clue how many but i can guarantee that number is REALLY small....going 8-8 is not a good thing and its an indictment on your division....8-8??? REALLY? im sure if the lions had barry they would have gone 10-6 at least.
getyoasshome 1 year ago
@getyoasshome
FRSFreeState 1 year ago
@FRSFreeState
FRSFreeState 1 year ago
@FRSFreeState actually mediocre and sucking are cousins....in my book making the playoffs as an 8-8 team or a 9-7 team BACK THEN was not good it just meant they needed some teams to fill the bracket but if they had their way they would have never made the playoffs...being 8-8 or 9-7 back then was basically saying we're a year away and if we dont win next year the coach will get his ass canned. the 49ers would have won regardless what division they were in. they were that good.
getyoasshome 1 year ago
@getyoasshome
FRSFreeState 1 year ago
@FRSFreeState if mediocre is 7-9 then what is 8-8? that just means you won all your home games basically..that means you are not consistent...9-7 says the same thing.
getyoasshome 1 year ago
@getyoasshome
Like I said but thats not sucking. A team that sucks has no chance of making the Playoffs take the Bengals of the 90's for example.
FRSFreeState 1 year ago
@FRSFreeState well yeah the bengals of the 90s sucked but the line is not thin when you look at an 8-8 team or a 9-7 team that makes the playoffs against a team that is 13-3 or whatever the cowboys record was back then. look at the league today we have about 5 or 6 teams that could honestly make the playoffs in the 90s with 10-6 records and they will miss the playoffs this year.
getyoasshome 1 year ago
@getyoasshome
FRSFreeState 1 year ago
@FRSFreeState of course barry wouldnt because he poured out his blood, sweat and tears..the detroit lions of the 90s are the denver broncos or dallas cowboys since 2001 they are IDENTICAL to the lions in the 90s when barry was there...won some games but was mediocre.
getyoasshome 1 year ago
@getyoasshome
So your coming around to that the Lions of the 90's were mediocre but they didn't suck? Its looks like the glacier is finally melting.
FRSFreeState 1 year ago
@FRSFreeState mediocre and sucking are cousins LOL!!! im a redskin fan...i know what mediocre is....we've been mediocre since 1991 and borderline sucking..the lions were mediocre but lets not forget that this is compared to the 90s cowboys....its like night and day and its just because of emmitt smith. just like the lions were not mediocre based on barry...the boys had hall of famers all over and the lions had....erik kramer..
getyoasshome 1 year ago
@getyoasshome
FRSFreeState 1 year ago
@getyoasshome
FRSFreeState 1 year ago
@FRSFreeState i bashed the nfc central because its the most overrated division in football....people think the nfc central is good because of what they did 50 years ago. the nfc central has 2 super bowl winning teams since the packers won it in 67' the nfc east is better and while the skins and giants did take a dip in the mid and late 90s they still got rings...the lions stunk with barry and without they had sub par seasons with barry but thats what happens when you have impostors at QB.
getyoasshome 1 year ago
@getyoasshome
Thats fine but they made the Playoffs more with multiple teams then the NFC East in the 90's. So lets get past this idea that one division sucked and the other didn't. You can't suck when you make the playoffs 6-9 years and are competing with 2-3 other teams in your division to accomplish that.
FRSFreeState 1 year ago
@FRSFreeState yeah im sure they did make the playoffs more than the nfc east did but no one will remember it because time and time again they did NOTHING in the playoffs they were not a threat to any of the teams..
getyoasshome 1 year ago
@getyoasshome
I think your finally seeing the light my friend
FRSFreeState 1 year ago
@getyoasshome
Why you keep bringing up that the Lions weren't as good as the other teams, thats obvious. You said they suck which is different. So not being as good and sucking are two different things. I realize that Barry is your boy but your facts aren't there.
FRSFreeState 1 year ago
@FRSFreeState actually barry isnt even my favorite running back by a long shot but i know better than to say something ignorant as he is not better than emmitt smith..my favorite running back was walter payton. the lions did suck...suck means you go to the playoffs one year then the very next you cant even win 6 games...thats called sucking.
getyoasshome 1 year ago
@getyoasshome
The ignorance is on your part because your saying things that you don't know are true. Another way of putting it is called shooting in the dark. Its one thing to say you like another RB more. Its another to say he's better then another.
