  • it is a fantastic course thank you

  • Paused this video at 0:17:08 and went on amazon.com and bought the book directly!

  • Love u Professor Walter...

You are one of the greatest teacher in the world...

    God bless you..

  • love you walter lewin...no one but you taught me how to love physic :)

  • Rather than 0 speed, doesn't he meant 0 Newtons of force?

  • and at night the travelled distance for light in air is soooo great, that even a red light does not pass thru it and you see black sky... thats maybe the first time in your life to understand why at night the sky is black :)

  • if you like science with foreign accents, check my new channel

  • Loved the lecture seriously loved it! Good job sir you deserve a medal! What a professional lecture!

  • great lecture. I'm new to physics but I could understand the video

  • is anyone 15 years old here and understanding that?!!

  • @someone20ify knowing what pi, acceleration (meter / second / second) and energy are, is pretty crucial!

Those things require some thinking about before they make sense in the real world!

    Don't give up though!

  • pendula swings between the minimum period for its energy conservation

  • Also notice that the knowledge a 17 year old Greek student gets in school EQUALS with the education an american student gets after 2 years in college.

This also happens in Math, maybe in an even greater extent.

For example in my physics book there is a whole chapter about atomic energy!!!

This may seems beneficial but its the exact oppposite, because it is too much for a 17 year old student.

  • I am a Greek student

In Greece education is considered free

But the educational system sucks so much.

This year i will give exams.

I Pay teachers to actually teach me a few things in order to achieve in the exams.

The Greek educational system is built in a way so we have to pay others to achieve and also just to memorize things.

Over 95% of Greek students do the same thing.

We pay at least 600 Euros a month to pass the exams.

    Can this be considered free?

Can this even be considered as education?

  • Am I the only one who thinks that Walter Lewin should do

    1. A module for 8.03 (there are already HW videos for 8.01 and 8.02, would be helpful if he upload that too)

    2. Lecture videos for upper division physics

    before he retires?

  • I love him!!! want to have a professor like that..

  • i just love MIT professors

  • Such a great method of teaching i really like

  • Absolutely fantastic lecture!

I've always disliked subjects like math, physics and chemistry, but a teacher like this can really make you fall in love with science...

  • Best Teacher Ever.

  • So great

  • The knowledge he gives, and through his enthusiasm. Just beautiful(:

  • I love his shirt.

  • Pity he doesn't teach anymore. I've met him on two occasions; aside from being one the world's most enthusiastic teachers, he is also perhaps the kindest scientist I have ever met.

  • wrs the banana btw

  • seriously cant get better than this

  • new videos from WL! awesome! and it's so.. colored :) ! and... still 360p :|

  • What A Man Its Amazing. He is the real SUPER STAR Of PhYsIcS.

  • What a great guy. I've been watching his lectures for quite some time now. He's a credit to humanity.

  • beautiful lecture!!! just awesome

  • Interesting.

  • This lecture made me all kinds of happy. Lewin is probably my favorite professor of all time.

  • If you love physics you should watch this lecture. If you hate physics, you REALLY should watch this lecture!! Thank you Walter Lewin for the amazing time you invest in all your students both 'real' and 'virtual' (I'm in the latter category)! :)

  • So you can me technical, and straight forward (physics), and abstract (Art History) at the same time.

  • Just beautiful.

  • Look at all of those hardworking successful people, I wish I was one of them.

  • best physic lecture ever...i wish i had him in high school!!

  • Oh dear prof. Lewin, i wish to thank You for all lecture in physics, and why become a fan of them. Best regards

  • Is a physics major interesting? I mean is it all math, or do you actually learn things that you can apply to daily life?

  • "I told you, physics works". That sounded so badass...

    Walter Lewin = Rockstar

  • Oh My God ! I actually cried, when he fell ! :'( I'm still crying.. :'( :'(

You are the greatest Professor, ever !!

I used to like Physics, but now, I absolutely LOVE Physics ! I live Physics ! I do everything with Physics ! Amazing ! Most inspiring lecture, ever ! Thank you, thanks a lot Professor ! :'(

  • hm kuckt auf mich bin n hamster

  • who the hell disliked this video. asshole..

  • I used to love physics, until I took an arrow to the knee and had to calculate its final velocity.

  • @TheMantheharpoons LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL, this comment is everywhere WTFF,, Skyrim = life

  • the best teacher in human History

  • physics is interesting but mathematics is just awesome:)

  • @DasGewitter83 Fuck off

  • physics is interesting but mathematics is just awesome:)

  • physics is good ,physics is annoying ,I always think highly of the physics~~

  • Brilliant.

  • one person doesn't understand conservation of energy

  • How did he get the dotted lines to go so fast?

  • It's because we love him....

  • @NWOCORPTERRORISMNEWS hilarious but true

  • @NWOCORPTERRORISMNEWS ha ha ha

I bet you would work for free. Smiling at the same time.

  • @NWOCORPTERRORISMNEWS

too bad nobody who is employing physicists hires people without degrees

  • @NWOCORPTERRORISMNEWS

I agree with you man, but most of the time, high paying jobs wont hire without degrees, doctors, engineers, biochemists, arent hired without degrees, sucks but its true.

  • Professor Lewin shows the true meaning of the word "Gentleman"

  • classes like this make me want to withdraw my statements of college is unnecessary

  • I'm not a physicist. And now, after I've watched it all, I've got very sorry that I'm not. :( I wish I could have had such a teacher during my education time. :) (Then I'd love not only English literature... haha... ) You're brilliant, Mr. Lewin. And I love your dotted lines.. haha....

  • He is an International Living Treasure, it's a shame there no Nobel Prize for inspirational teachers. Wonderful.

  • Physics is really interesting, I grew up when physicists

  • Is that Bill Maher at 27:46 ? third aisle, all the way to the right?

  • His shirt has almost the same colors of the word 'Physics' in the cover of his book. =)

  • OMG so proud to be Dtuch. This guy can teach!

  • Прав Задорнов "Ну какие же они все дураки!......."

  • Ok. How the hell did he do the dotted lines. That was pretty awesome in itself,

  • what a great professor!

  • a classic ;)

  • Dare anybody Dislike

  • not bad, but too much show. More physics please :)

  • <3 BEST PROF.

    love you from PALESTINE

  • If you don't know what pi is you might as well leave right now. ... lolz

  • He is...SO AWESOME!

  • Freddie Mercury of Physics \m/

  • Legend!

  • How was he talking about facebook in 1999? Mind BLOWN!

  • @ShowinYaHow description says this was May 16, 2011

  • I would never have guessed that he was 75, I would have thought he was 10 years younger.

  • Walter Lewin is an amazing teacher. Wish i could have had the privilege to have taken his courses.

As an aside, Someone recently uploaded the Feynman Messenger Lectures to Youtube; Another equally great and inspiring teacher.

  • 17:30 BRAVO!!!

  • awesome

  • One of the best professors I ever had.

  • @buffboynick

You were an excellent colleague sir.

  • 6:26

  • i swear i see prof. snape sitting in the front row :)

  • I have Walter Lewins book and professor Muller (physics for future presidents)

I can say Lewins book is far superior in many ways, thanks for the new upload MIT!

  • The sunset was fantastic

  • Every college professor should watch every Lewin lecture and memorize the part of this video where he describes lecture construction. I cannot express the frustration I have when I have to expend mental energy just to unknot and defragment what some of my professors tell me. It's a useless waste of time on both the students' parts, and the professor's part as he will have to later clarify what he meant.

  • R.I.P Professor :(

  • @Ali2045Ali2045

    Don't scare me like that!

  • @Ali2045Ali2045

    LOLOLOLOL TROLL

  • he is backkkk!!! :) just luv watching him

  • That was fun.

  • that's a teacher !!!

  • Greetings and thank you from Brazil!

  • great lecture. inspiring delivery

  • this was not in '99.

  • I fucking love his shirt!

  • His shirt is such a win.

  • woow I think hes developing Parkinson's disease. his head is shaking everytime he stops talking or moving. any one else notice this ?

  • What a hero.

  • Lewin is back!

  • Holy Cows!! Walter Lewin prepares for 60 hours for a single lecture ! You don't become a good physics teacher by preparing for half an hour do you?

  • <3 <3 Walter Lewin!!

  • Im asking for his book for Christmas so excited to read it!

  • if you don't know what pi is you may as well leave right now :)))))))))) classic.

  • I thought red sensors are saturated and needing time to recover sensitivity. So when you look at a white (red & blue & yellow) wall, you will only see green (yellow & blue) since red sensors are off.

  • amazing!!

  • This guy is awesome. A legend in teachers

  • he is a born teacher..once someone asked Sir Issac Newton that who he was married to, he said Physics.

  • What a legend

  • Greatest physics teacher ever. Nuff' said.

  • what a man! he is the man why i love physics!

Physics is all about the people who think "different".

  • THANKSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS =)

  • thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!

  • Magnificent!

  • This is what great teaching is all about !!!

  • awesome!

  • 0:52:38 NO! They didn't reveal the secret!

  • @raydredX The video he was talking about: /watch?v=raurl4s0pjU

    It's so awesome.

  • I could watch this guy all day, especially his legendary dashed lines.

  • @1ucasvb How the hell does he make them? I've been trying to figure this out for like a year now...

  • Love this guy

  • Amazing man ! Thank you Professor Lewin !

  • Wow, another 12 year old video:D

  • LOVE U MAN! Im addicted to this videos! I learn so much...

this aint like highschool, that teachers teach like shit!

  • He loves teach and we love him.

  • It is one of my life goals to shake the hands of the man that taught me physics. Though I do not have the opportunity to attend MIT, I am able to learn physics hundreds of miles away from this great man. Thank you Professor Lewin. Thank you.

  • is this graduate level mechanics?

  • @shaneymane15 I did this physics in elementary School

  • @HannahMontana131313 Lol really? I didnt watch it.

  • He's such an amazing teacher, great example and great man. He manages to explain very difficult concepts in such an easy and understandable way. Thank you Walter Lewin and thank you MIT.
