  • So I used about two feet and ended up with five inches of bracelet. I did everything like you did, but with 550 cord. Do you think that made the difference?

  • Thanks so much for making these videos! By selling this tie, along with the stitched soloman bar,the tire tred bar, and the caterpillar foot bracelet, I was able to net $5,000 and after buying all of my materials, made nearly $4,000! Thanks to you when I am sixteen in a couple of years, if I keep saving, maybe I will be able to buy a car when I am 16! Thanks a bunch

  • Is it possible to make with a buckle? I would like to know. If you could respond JD, that would be great.

  • mine looks amazing

  • Done! ! : b Thx Tiat : p

  • Can i use a thin string to make this?

  • @TyingItAllTogether

this is lot a like a cobra stich, but this time you are using the iner cordes

  • I love you channel. I've even subscribed to you page. I have a question though. Did you start in the middle of the rope? Thanks!

  • @ETFL13 - Correct.... If I do not mention were I started, I started in the middle.

  • Mine isn't as neat looking but decent I think. I used bright red and goldenrod for a Marine themed one. This was a good width without looking bulky.

  • can you use thin string - thread?

  • @HannahMiniMarieMusic Well... in my opinion this one would make for a really, really small bracelet. For cord knots, the thickness is helpful. I suppose, just try it.

  • @LakeofGlass OKay x thankyou :)

  • soft candy.

  • SOFT CANDY....IS ASS

  • Hi, I really enjoy your videos very much, and at the moment I made a purse out of rice fibers, which sort of looks like a wicker. I'd like to make a handle for the purse with one of your designs, kind of looking for a round cord, or maybe this one. Do you have any suggestions on which to use, The purse is a shoulder purse, so the strap would be aprox 22" thanx for the videos, I think you are awsome.

  • Can you make a video on how to make a Cord rosary or a Knotted rosary? If so that would be great

  • Hi JD,

how to make a kidny belt of 4" broad?

    Thanks for tips.

    JR

  • I found that with 550 Paracord you need a little more than the 6ft and a lot less for the "core" cord in this video. More like 2ft. Great video as always!!!!

  • What kind of thread is?

    Please

  • Your great. Thanks for sharing your experience.

  • I love this, thanks so much! I've made two and am wearing one right now!

  • Thank you JD. Would you be insulted if I suggested that you become sponsored? Because frankly that would make ME happier because then I would know that you get benefits from teaching us the coolest thing in the world. Thanks for all your time you put into your videos; I hope you know that it makes others happy and that it helps them believe in themselves that they can create and say "Yes, I made that with my hands".

  • hey.... i live in canada.... and the website you but your paracord from doesnt ship to canada.... any other websites you might have in mind that will ship here would be much apreiciated!!

  • nice..

  • Can I do this with embroidery floss??

  • Can I do this with embroidery floss??

  • What kind of string is this??? I cant find it anywhere... TELLL MEE PLEASE ASAP

  • @chochotraingurls - 450 Paracord from VtArmyNavy(dot)com

  • As always.... Awesome video....

  • I love this bracelet, and your vids! Just stumbled on to your stuuff, subscribed to your channel, and just ordered your book! Your vids are so easy to follow, just wish they had a slooow button! I think your website is great, too! Knotting sure is fun!

Someone asked about the lighter blue color, and I can't find your answer (operator error, I am sure, I am new to posting, etc. on You Tube), could you let me know??

    Beautiful stuff!

THANK YOU for all your hard work!

  • I'm making a long stitched solomon bar from 550 paracord and I'm finding that it tends to curl backward. Setting the reef knots really tight (my original instinct) seems to make it worse. Just a tip for y'all since I think I figured out the problem.

@LTTPUK I'm a girly too. I got interested in decorative knots and found JD's site and high-quality videos. I'm a beginner and I use satin cord and cheap craft cord too. Any string, twine, or cord would work but would have different final effects.

  • Just made my first two stitched Solomon bars. I love them! Thanks for posting your videos. You are a really great teacher and you go slowly enough for even a beginner to learn your knots. God bless,

    Colleene

  • What kind of purple is that?

  • U r good but nobody can see what ur doing with ur fingers in the way.

  • @sophioph I can. it's pretty clear

  • Thanks for your time and expertise in know tying. I really enjoy your vids and encourage you to disregard the Dick Heads.

    Thanks

  • You knot tying guys are feisty!!!!!!! LOL

  • thanks for sharing ....

  • Forgive me I'm sure you have answered this question before, but why do you use 450 cord? Is just that it's more economical than 550? Does it behave differently? Maybe because the finished piece has a bit less bulk? Just curious. Please keep innovating. I just got Decorative Fusion Knots, I can't wait for the next one.

  • @KF7AIK

As far as I know, the fun colors typically only come in 450. Black, white, OD, and a few others (depending on the manufacturer) come in 550.

  • @magnesiumspork That's a good thought but you can get 550 in any color under the sun as well. That's why I wondered why 450. I am about to make a big internet cord purchase and wanted to know before I do.

  • @KF7AIK

Really? Do you mind if I ask where you are purchasing from? I haven't been able to find 550 in any fun colors apart from red.

  • @magnesiumspork Locally here in Utah I go to a large surplus store called Smith and Edwards but it is about 40 miles in a direction I don't usually go. They have a wall full of spools (maybe 15 colors) with both 550 7 strand and 550 gutted, both in each color, that they will cut to length. They also have a large pegboard display with precut 100 foot pieces in many other colors all 550 7 strand. I will admit though, after looking around, that you are right about 450 having the most color choices.

  • @KF7AIK where is that? i didn't see para cord last time i was at Smith and Edwards.

  • @MillitaryKid42 Right in the "Rope Room". Just ask.

  • @KF7AIK - Call it habit, or that the gauge simply works for me... I like the medium (just as an artist might choice acrylic paint over oils for painting) So I tend to use 450 over 550 (but, then again, not always). This said, my designs can be tied with 550. But 450 is what I use for my videos/books, so I mention it as the "cord use". In the end, it's just a preferred medium thing. No stronger reason beyond that...

  • @KF7AIK - Truth: I originally purchased 450 for its color selection. I'd established about forty tying techniques I wanted to share (in late 2009) and wanted share them with strong contrasting colors that "popped" when videoed. Shortly thereafter, I found 450's pliability more amenable to the designs I was creating. nearly 100 ties later, I still use 450.

  • Thank you for all your hard work! Keep 'em coming. I have made lots of bars since I first saw your solomon bar tutorial, it inspires me to try my own knots.

  • DUDE! i cant wait to try this out! youre so talented! great vid! thanks for posting!

  • it says 6 feet of both colors of paracord but i think for the inside 2 1/2 feet would be fine, i've got like 1 1/2 feet on each end, oh well!

  • Great looking variation, thanks for sharing! :)

  • For some reason that looks really familiar to me. i cant figure out why.

  • Do you make these as jewellery or for a practical purpose? Sorry - I'm a girly - not sure why you make them - but enjoy your videos nevertheless as I like making jewellery. :-)

  • Are there other materials you could do this with? Thinner things?

  • where do you get paracords

  • Thanks for all your videos. My children and me just discovered your channel and subscribed. You do an outstanding job presenting the "how to." We will have lots of fun. Thanks again!!!

  • Hey, I have an idea, we can help JD buy more paracord by buying his books. So far I have bought his "Decorative Fusion Knots" a beautiful book, and his book "Disturbingly Normal" which I read in two days because I couldn't put it down. Keep up the great work JD.

  • @creeryk - im not sure how JD does it but i seen in one of his vids that he used a mega pocket torch ... and let me tell you it does help alot.

  • how do you get your singe to look good like that

  • JD: All the technical staff from Knott's berry farm and my tour group thank you so much for your videos. You have provided us with hours of entertainment. gearboy is stupid. Yeah it cost money for the paracord, i spend at least $50 a month just to make them and give them out for free. I think we all do it just because its fun and to learn new ties. Thanks!

  • JD: Don't pay gearboy any mind. I, and I am sure many other subscribers, would be willing to help pay for your paracord to show our appreciation for your creativity and generousity in providing your instructions free on line. Please keep at it. Thanks.

  • gearboy needs to get a life

  • It would be good idea if you at least typed in the description how much rope/paracord one would need for a certain bracelet or knot.

    Nice vids btw

  • @AngelosInside, read the description of the video. He tells you.

  • @AngelosInside If you watch his video again, he does show that you need 6 feet of each color. Im sure you just missed it. :)

  • @7Spankster7 Omg....*face-palm* :D

    Thank you :)

    *feels stupid*

  • With this pattern you could do some cord fusing and involve 4 colors....maybe a later video...hint hint.. : ) Thanks for your time and your imagination.

  • i actually started making this a while back, right after i learned the solomon bar, i thought about doing this.

  • I've been watching and learning from JD's videos for 2 years now, I'm now making cow whips with para-cord and making a pretty good little profit from it!

Thanks JD, for peaking my interest.

  • @Strankon - Who buys cow whips? And what part of the country? I'm always trying to find unique ways of making stuff that guys would buy at craft shows.

  • @DonnakinsJewelry I was fortunate enough to have been brought up in what used to be the largest cattle producing state in the U.S. Not too many people know that Florida is a cattle state, I know a lot of ranchers in and around Osceola county, and most of the cowboys that work these ranches like my whips. There are also performers that use whips in their shows.

  • Really enjoy your videos and website. This has inspired me to try it out. I have a chronic disease and this practice will be therapudic for me. Please continue to post.

and don't mind those who don't understand or appreciate what your doing. Thanks JP

  • @Skiman21632 - Agreed!

  • Thanks much JD! Love your work.

  • Another fantastic instructional vid! Thx for the pauses so we can follow along. Also, thank you for your time and efforts. Putting vids together is very involved. Unless one does it they have. no. idea.

  • i am always amazed at how one simple change on a knot can change it so much.

Keep up the good teaching JD

  • i like this variation ive been doing it for awhile, works great with double camo

  • @gearboy12550 - well if you are just learning Gearboy... buy the smaller hanks buddy

  • @gearboy12550 - Who do you think I purchase my paracord for? I don't sell ties. I don't charge for my videos or my website, or the forum. I'm not even a YouTube partner. And I'm not sponsored. I don't get free cord (never have). And for nearly three years, I've posted a video a week, using my (day job) money for all production costs, including, time (average 6 hours per video), support equipment, setup, camera and editing software. So it is nice...its nice for you.

  • @TyingItAllTogether Oh, I see. Well then, I apologize. Thanks for setting me straight. By the way I do enjoy your videos. You don't see the stuff you do many other places. Do you think this stuff up by yourself, if not where did you learn to do it or is that your littles secret?

  • @gearboy12550 I buy it in as small as 10ft lengths at my local Army Navy store and they have several different colors, it's not that expensive, even for 50ft.

  • @gearboy12550 Dude itts $38 online for the real stuff for 1000'. Dumbass

  • @BeetleJewse Really, how about a link instead of an insult, doo doo stain?

  • @gearboy12550 A link you say? ranger joes (dot) com search for "550 cord" in search box.
