Hey guys, I'm having a huge problem with palm mute, it sounds ..scratchy, I mean that the sound of the pick touching the strings is too loud, it's annoying. I use full distortion, does it make any difference?

@121Guns The distortion doesn't make (a lot of) difference. Your tone (treble) does.

So try to keep the treble down. (idk what kind of amp you got, so it might be that you've "high and low". If so, try to keep the "high" down)

I'm sorry but this is completely missing many if the points in palm muting. in metal it creates a cool crunch sound and is often used to make certain notes stand out, most notably in ascending melodies. I have never heard of a palm mute being used to stop the singer from being drowned out -that's just bullshit. Also, could this video be any more useless? It only shows how to mute a whole chord and not individual notes - figuering out how to mute chords is simple.
