I've asked everyone that I have ever met if they new what the name of this movie was. No one ever heard of it (shame). After searching almost every movie from mid to late 80's I found it
i was very young when i first saw this & for some reason it scared me. i guess knowing that a mother could go through the extremes of lying about shooting her children. i really dont remember how the movie goes but it was sad. i may have to watch that this weekend. i miss farrah.
yeah i watched the movie so many times i don't know what the real person looks like but i really hate her for what she did to her kids i feel bad for her kids i cried in that movie so many times cause it's so sad :(
Really wanna watch this movie.. I read the book numerous times and its just so sad, but also a really good and well written book. I hope the film is just as great.
Diane was denied parole last month, thank God, she should NEVER be let out.
Like with anyone who posts on YouTube, just because they post a promo for a show or movie doesn't mean they have the full program advertised. However, in this case, I *think* (key word here) I did tape Small Sacrifices when it was run on a local station's weekend movie lineup some several years ago, because that's when I first got to see it myself. I will look through my tapes from that time to see if it comes up, we might get lucky :) It was a good movie.
I saw an excerpt of her parole hearing and she looks terrible and still says some of the stupidest things ever.
I.E. She told the Parole board in Chowchilla prison (where she is currently serving) that she is a better candidate for rehabilitation since she has escaped for four times showing that she wants her freedom!!
You'd think that somehow she'd use that criminal genius to make up better lies......I am glad that I don't live in Southern California anymore.
Her parents must be good people because Diane used an accusation that her dad molested her as a defense for her actions.....even though he was paying for her defense at the time.
To make matters worse, her dad recently put up a $50,000.00 reward to catch the "stranger" who tried to kill his grand kids!
In short, Diane obviously expects things from her parents that she was not willing to pass on to her children.
We'll never know for sure. Some incestuous parents become very "caring :" and giving to atone for what they did, and incestuous abuse can cause all sorts of head problems for the victims. Or, it could be that Diane is simply a pathological liar. Maybe she sustained brain damage at birth, and this affected her ability to interact with other people. There are all sorts of reasons why people behave so badly, Or, maybe, she''s just plain evil.
You are so true. I guess that we will n ever know about what happened with Diane or her father. I hope that if she told the truth the first time about him molesting her that maybe he has made an attempt to change.
Some of my older family members said that they went through that as children and needed help.
I wonder if there are signs that others can see when a child is molested? (I don't have children.) If so, I wonder what can be done and what are the chances that it will help?
Behavioural problems ( withdrawing/aggression ) can be an indicator that abuse is occurring. Sometimes, the child grows up in a household where both parents commit incest, so the kids think it's normal. It's very, very common.

I remember seeing this preview when I was 6 years old when I was laying on the couch with my head on my grandma's lap.
She said oh how awful wanted to shot those three children.
My grandma said I don't want you watching this with when it comes on.

She's truly pathetic. The psychologists thought that she was incapable of love, which, I guess is correct, seeing what she did to her little ones..
