Well, I think the average Oprah viewer is american women sitting in the couch and eats Bon Bons. They all say...wow, that's what a danish home looks like, until they look outside the posh Copenhagen home with a family earning $7000 per month
happiness doesn't come from faith, faith is the offspring of ignorance. Danes are probably that happy because they will not be oppressed if they don't believe what the others believe. We do not only have freedom with the government, but also in our social lives, which is actually the biggest freedom of all.
But if you would rather treat your fellow citizens like shit, and making them starve on the streets, let children grow up in crack houses, let parents with small children die from cancer. Nice of you, nice of you.
Im on university right now, and im getting payed for it each month -by the government! And one day I will give back.
O'Reilly is the best entertainment on American television by far! We have high taxes compared to other countries, yes - 43% in average to be exact.
I would not change this for anything else. We got free healthcare, free education (the government even pay us a monthly fee while we're studying, so we can concentrate on our studies, and not having to work). It's not much. Around 1000$ a month, but it's plenty for us to live. This sounds like a proper case of jealousy.
Haha who the fuck are they kidding? We pay %75? Only in America can you spew bullshit and get away with it as a fact.. If you have a regular job you pay %38 and then after you reach a certain number you pay more of the rest.. Have fun with your great system America.. It sure is working out for you just great.. Don't mind all the homeless or jobless - they're just scum remember! I'm preeeeeeetty sure we have more disposable income than you on average ..
The clip in the end of Oprahs show, where they show a danish apartment, is SOOOO unrealistic. Nobody in Denmark live in an apartment like that. It defently isn't an average danish home! :)
@HHChristensen I have a friend living in that building, and he's just a regular guy with a regular income, so yes ppl do live like this, if you chose to. Some ppl spend their money on nice clothing and some spend it on a nice home. It just comes down to choice and preferences :0)

The good news, NewGenerationXX, is that America is still a free country. You see, we don't want your brand of Denmark socialism and we don't want your high taxes. We want freedom. You have a teeny tiny country to manage and the U.S. dwarfs you by leaps and bounds...don't act like you are a geographical, political expert because...you're not. :P
@KellyTruthSquad i may be biased but i think it is because of our high taxes that we have the freedom you americans like to talk about. if you are born in a trailer park or some ghetto, your chances of becomming something is vastly smaller than in denmark. i know oprah did it, but in general. your social background is much more important
but yes having only 6million people to care about does make a difference
@KellyTruthSquad Those views and that attitude is excactly why the rest of the world doesn't like USA :). now im not going for a low blow by saying all of your fellow americans are just as ignorant as you, because i know by fact that they're not, but there are plenty of americans with that attitude and its laughable :).
And comparing societies is just ridiculous. Just take a look at the percentage number of Americans living in poverty, and compare it to the number of danes living in poverty
@KellyTruthSquad Yes dismiss everything every other country is doing, because none of them KNOW SHIT. Could it be that there's something that can be learned? I'm by no means claiming my country is perfect. There's issues, and I firmly believe turning to other countries without those issues to see what they are doing right, is a GOOD thing. Apparently you don't
We have more freedom than you guys. Everybody has the freedom to choose whatever education they want, have the freedom not to be worried if you child gets sick, Gays have the freedom to get married in church. You guys are the hillbilles of the earth, and you have no idea.
Please dont act like your an geographical / political expert. Because you're not. I live in Denmark, and i've lived there all my life. There is only high tax rates, because then we get health insurance, free medical help. And if you're broke you go to a homeless shelter, where you are allowed to stay and get food on the table.
Denmark is essentially a communist lite country whose population is 1% of the U.S. and it is a mono-cultural society. And of course Oprah likes it, she already made her money. Communism is great once you are rich & connected, for anyone trying to climb up it is a nightmare.
Just because something seems to work elsewhere doesn't mean that it can work here.
we do not pay 75% in tax!!!! we pay like 45%. and we get everything we want!

stuff does not matter. it causes stress. that is part of why they are happy. consumption does not lead to happiness, it is the exact opposite.
