  • Run when you see the gun.

  • This murder of four innocent college kids (when I was a high school senior) caused a major fight with my dad, who never couldunderstand the truth about 'Nam. They killed JFK to get Vietnam and look how that turned out.

  • It was the fault of the morons and fascists who sent them in there with live ammo.

  • It was the protesters fault. Although the people who died wern't protesters that's a problem. But the people protesting were burning buildings and throwing shiz at the guards. So they had every right to shoot. Just not at the wrong people.

  • Bellissima cover fin dalle prime note

  • 14 pessoas tem pinto pequeno

  • They got what was coming to them, fucking hippies are the reason we lost Nam!

  • @MrAmazing922 Some of them weren't hippies, two of them were on their way to class

  • @MrAmazing922 ha that so true nice wording

  • @MrAmazing922 This is a joke, right? You can never know...

  • kent state......_. i live right by there.

    4. dead. in ohio

  • @ fanfallout

This song was not made for capitalism, it was made to spread the word globally about the Kent state massacre, and to spread the word that Nixon and the guard should have been held responsible for the 4 deaths, 8 injuries and one Paralyzation. Many people don't know what happened at Kent State, throughout history it keeps happening everywhere, I can name three similar situations of the top of my head where students were killed for protesting peacefully against a war.

  • My father was a student at Kent when this happened. He also had two brothers who were in the army overseas at the same time. I have always loved this song, its innocent but powerful. God bless the USA.

  • I was 6 in 1970 when it happened. I felt outraged but my father hated hippies and thought it was about time they cracked down on them f'ing hippies. That was a year after woodstock when the hippies walked through my town on the way to the concert. I secretly waved peace signs to them and to this day feel pain for my father's ignorant support for evil oppression. I didn't get to tell him what I really thought of him till after college and even now he still doesn't get it. I pray for him.

  • The Vietnam War was the CIA's evil adventure, so important to them that they killed JFK so it could continue ... and for what???

  • @Boelcke1919 Sarcasm, right? Amusing if so.

  • This was when the establishment declared war on the protesting kids. THis caused my dad and I to have a nasty argument.

  • my sister goes to Kent state and i saw the field that they have turned into a parking lot but with the four spaces marked of with plaques. i saw the little park with benches for them. i saw the different signs. i even saw the statue with the bullet holes in it with flowers and peace signs written around it. i was even there on may 4th this year the[30th anniversary] when they played bag pipes and everything

  • my dad went to kent state and he loved it!

  • Wow , might be some of the best sound quality I've heard uploaded..Thanks!

  • I feel that while the kent state massacre was horrible and this song is something of a tribute.

I do not agree with people using such an event to make money.

  • I'm going to kent state in 2 months, I find it odd that I didn't know about this...

  • certain things we should never forget Kent State is one of them.

  • This should bring us all to Question our Government, Religion and ourselves.

    Thank you ,

    Dad

  • i wish i was there

  • this incident did not need to happen. this shooting will forever live in the hearts and minds of all us ohioans. this was a dark day for Ohio.

  • That's bull. He didn't fire any shots. The guardsman all went down at the same time and 68 total shots were fired. If that kid was undercover, he wouldn't have thrown rocks at protestors. Great song by Neil young.

  • @GRDiesel Did u ever consider that the FBI maybe had him there to create instability to the protesters? By the way, dont just speak about what you know, i spent two hours looking up what i know. LOOK IT UP. And by the way, they have already proven that four undisclosed shots were fired before the gaurd made its killings.

  • @QJohnson64 not everything on the internet is true

  • @Gibi075 True. But this is not just the internet that i got this from. This is the internet, televised specials, widespread knowlage, and a book. LIke i said, i did my research.

  • When Norman was far enough away, for whatever reason, he drew his gun and fired four shots in unknown directions. The gaurd saw this as a life threat and was ordered by a Sgt. Taylor to open fire. they did so. Afterward when Norman was brought into the public eye, the FBI lied and covered for him. But when the tapes were scientifically analized, four shots were discoverd fired before the gaurd began its killing. The goverment is corrupt and in the dust, but it was not the gaurds fault.

  • Let me tell you all what really went on.

The FBI had a under cover student named Terry Norman on their side. he was carrying a side arm durring the stand off between national gaurd and kent. While every one at kent was throwing rocks, Norman was in the middle of the two, throwing rocks at the protesters. A student named Tom Masterson attacked Norman, beliving him to be a traitor. Please read next comment for rest.

  • I dig it!. Good cover.Nice harmonies. I lived through these times. So senseless.

  • crazy to live in kent and every year this date comes around, the atmosphere changes like there's a plague siftin through the air :/ RIP

  • i was happy we got to listen to this in social studies

  • makes me cry to remember this tragedy, to think that KIDS are now doing this to each other.... sad

  • @bluedarlingal Actually it was soldiers doing it to them

  • I hate how people that don't know the story act like they know what they're talking about.

  • npeople need to realize people in the 60s-70s didnt care about how people sounded rly it was the message (:

  • @itachi2442 No they weren't, the national guard was called in to prevent destruction of property and dismiss the protestors, not "take them out", the government had no intention of killing the students

  • @itachi2442

the sooner u learn the government isnt rly there to help u the more u will rly understand ur just a mainstream idiot and read sht out of books and never actually live through it

  • neil young origanally sung this song so its not a cover stupid

  • really to hell with history and all that other bullshit nobody should have died that day

  • @Bzamm615 You realize it is a known fact that under the Kennedy Administration that a scenario almost exactly similar to the 9/11 conspiracy theory (a false-flag attack to garner support for a war, in 2001 the afghanistan/iraq war , under Kennedy - the bay of pigs) was proposed and made it all the way to Kennedy himself before it was vetoed? Maybe you should do some research - it's not that far-fetched.

Look up Operation Northwoods for more information on this.

  • good cover.

  • 11 people need a History lesson.

  • @StartswithCendsinT

its not a cover neil young originally sang this

  • @itachi2442 I never said it was a cover...wtf? Are you okay?

  • @StartswithCendsinT

    yeah u did xD

    re-read ur comment then

    dumbass

  • I always hear people making fun of Justin Bieber. He is obvously more talented then this no name, more people have heard of Justin Bieber, therefore he is clearly exponentially more talented than this Neil Young character.

  • @ZaidTank

excuse me sir but in the 60s-70s they didnt care how about people sounded they just cared about the message

please dont insult this moment in history that had taught us alot

    american or not have respect

  • @ZaidTank

1)Neil Young was actually well known in his day,as a solo artist and as a member of Buffalo Springfield and later Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young.

2)Fame is not synonymous with talent. Look at people like Paris Hilton: famous but not very talented.

3)Neil Young is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame... twice! And is called "one of rock and roll’s greatest songwriters and performers."

4)Neil Young actually wrote songs with important messages.

5)Neil Young's voice is not freakishly high.

  • @LeroyJethroGibbs91 Neil Young is a whiney fag with limited understanding of both sides of an issue due to being a one sided emotional baby

  • @ZaidTank fuck off. neil young is huge, one of the best musicians of all time. and and hes not a cheesey little fuck named bieber

  • this massacre goes to show Americans are no better the china killing there protesters i would have a better understanding if they had weapons ie guns knives and such and im pretty sure you would throw tear gas back to where it came from if it was thrown at you dont justify this killing as a great act done by the us government.

  • @justmarried155 I'm not justifying anything, but I'm not putting the blame on the government either, both parties were at fault, the students should't have attacked the national guard and should have dispersed when told to, but the government should not have shot at them either...

  • @Bzamm615 well i believe in free speech and if you are mad at something you have a right to say so that doesn't mean you have to lose you life bc your government didn't like what you have to say. and i also not saying the national guard is fully at fault they were following orders. but i do believe the government is at fault for this they had no right to kill the protesters

  • @justmarried155 Thats true, and it was a tragedy, but its also not like the government pulled the trigger, there was no order to fire, one member of the national guard got nervous and then the shooting started. Had the protestors not been quite so boisterous, the deaths may have been avoided...

  • @Bzamm615

national guard is still government really and they were supposed to take them out, reason they were called in

  • @itachi2442

u must not undestand the government will open fire on u for no reason its happened before

ur just an uneducated person like tht i guess

  • i appreciate the historical footage, but i would prefer to see the band playing.

  • @musiclady43

Apparently, you're quite stupid. No "radical" left wingers started this movement. This was a movement by reasonable Americans who cared more about the safety of our citizens than stopping Communism in a nation across the world, where we couldn't win.

  • @TheROCKADDICTION No, all anti war movements were in fact funded and organized by the KGB under the Active Measures program. Please research.

  • @TheROCKADDICTION They cared about the safety of citizens? Gimmie a freaking break. Obviously it was a tragedy but the protestors were anything but innocent. They were ordered by the National Guard to disperse. They refused. Rocks and garbage was thrown at the National Guard. They retaliated by throwing tear gas, which the protestors tossed back at the National Guard. Obviously they shouldn't have died, but don't pretend like the Nation I fought for was some evil power with mixed up priorities

  • @Bzamm615

sorry to inform you...but look at Iraq/Afghanistan/Libya NOW...if you believe the real reason the US is butting their heads in other peoples business is because they care about your safety, or for a noble cause, you're sorrily mistaken. They could have fired rubber bullets, or here's an idea...maybe LISTEN TO THEM. You know, like a government is supposed to do? The reason they're elected? So they can represent their citizens?...9/11 wasn't the first time America killed their own ppl..

  • @MichaelBallack91 If you're retarded enough to believe the US planned 9/11 then you have no credibility & shouldn't be taken seriously... Until you said that I was interested in your argument, but that last statment just makes you a total jackass... & I highly doubt the national guard was planning on shooting anyone, so why would they possibly pack rubber bullets? As for Iraq/Afghanistan/Libya, the leaders were/are oppressive & need(ed) to be taken out, it was/is for the preservation of freedom.

  • The slow death of our Nation began on this day.

  • Killed (and approximate distance from the National Guard):

Allison Krause 343 ft. (105 m); fatal left chest wound

Jeffrey Glen Miller 265 ft. (81 m); shot through the mouth - killed instantly

Sandra Lee Scheuer 390 ft. (119 m); fatal neck wound

William Knox Schroeder 382 ft. (116 m); fatal chest wound

    ..

  • Monday, May 4, 1970. Four students were murdered and nine others wounded, one of whom suffered permanent paralysis. Anyone who served in the infantry knows that these soldiers knew they were going to kill kids that day first thing in the morning.

  • Wow, I didn't realize this was a cover, amazing job

  • @LemonLimeLaughter who did it originally

  • very gooooodd!

  • Gotta get down to it again in 2012!!

Our Government is once again ot of control!

    Semper-Fi !!

  • @MrJeff1947 armagedon is in 2012 already tere is birds falling out of the sky

  • @blowinstuffup1 sorry to burst your doomsday bubble but that happens actially quite frequently...

  • @AbRamskiller41 name 2 other confirmed times that birds fell uot of thre sky and are we supposed to believe that it was because of loud noises? u have got to be shitting me!

  • @blowinstuffup1www.businessinsider(.)com/heres-the-truth-about-the-dead-birds-falling-out-of-the-sky-2011-1 that is one. news.nationalgeographic(.)com/news/2011/01/110106-birds-falling-from-sky-bird-deaths-arkansas-science/ thats two. also last year about 200 dead pelicans washed up on the shore beacuse of an un expected cold front. I hope you do realize that their are millions apon millions of birds in the U.S. alone, and alot of them were prob. born around the same time..

  • intro is such a jam

  • sad song about the past, when I was young man in the military in 1970 just got back from vietnam and was home on 10 day leave and Massacre happen at Kent State, it made think about many things in my life,,

  • @oldsgtjoe I got home from Nam on April 29,1970. Five days later, well....................Made me think like I wish I hadn't had to.

  • @oldsgtjoe

I was there. I graduated high school in '70. Went with my neighbors sister who went to Kent St.

Got drafted in '72 last yr. of the draft. I was #4. Almost headed north but my bro talked me into the Navy.

Love Neil. Thus my screen name forgetitohio.Nobody gets it. I couldn't do "4deadinohio". Been to 4 of his concerts. and CSNY 2 times peace bro

  • I usualy hate Covers but this is just awesome! Respect and thanks for that!

Also normalerweise hasse ich ja Coverversionen aber das hab ihr einfach sau geil gemacht! Respekt und danke dafür!

  • holy crap everyone has huge comments here O_O

  • Awesome cover!!

  • " what would you have done?"

... i would have listened to them.

  • NIXON: "Get rid of it, whatever it takes."

  • NIXON: "Get rid of them, how ever you need to." Kenfla2, get real.

  • This sounds sweet.

  • THE DAY AMERICAN SOLDIERS KILLED OUR STUDENTS..WHEN THE INCIDENT IN TIANNMEN SQUARE OCCURED, THOSE STUDENT WERE FREEDOM FIGHTERS BUT HERE IN THE FUCKING USA, THEY WERE RADICAL KIDS..GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE YOU GOD DAMN CONSERVATIVES AND PATRIOTS...PROTESTING IS THE MOST DEMOCRATIC PRINCIPLE IN AMERICA...

  • Comment removed

  • @rexrockandroll Fuck you, you baby killing, dope smoking, tree huging prick. You get the fuck out. That wasn't freedom fighting it was a 4 day roit. Those student was throwing rooks and burning down building. Learn your history you moroon.

  • @kenfla2 - NIXON: "Get rid of it, whatever it takes."

  • @mavl50 What would you have done? Those student was throwing rocks at police and guardsman, burning down buildings and rioting in the streets for 4 days. Look i feel bad for the students because they beleived in something( which is more then what i can say for today) and i really love this song but common sence is telling me that there wasn't that much of a choice.

  • @kenfla2

there's always a choice to not kill people. They even admit it was wrong, and it was a very stupid STUPID thing to do. It just shows that whoever goes against the grain pays for it. We don't live in a democracy. Why do we have laws when police don't even follow them? Our government officials elected are supposed to listen to US, not the other way around. Police are paid for by our tax dollars. Those kids paid to get killed. How sad is that?..

Fuck nixon. RIP John F./Bobby Kennedy...

  • @MichaelBallack91 So your telling me that the police should of stand there and get their ass kicked? Did you miss the part about the police and guardsman being under attacked by those students, students that were grown adults? What world do you live in? You shit on the people who provide you freedom and you praise a man who cheats on his wife. GROW THE FUCK UP

  • @kenfla2

I'm saying the police should have found another method to stop the riot, or perhaps maybe listen to them. These people were enraged their representative had decided to prolong an already stupid "war", they had a very LEGITIMATE cause to be angry. And for that, they were shot. Did you miss the part about them shooting and killing 4 people, injuring 9? Don't fucking support cops, they'll shit on you, and if you think we have freedom, you're sadly mistaken.

  • @kenfla2

and as for JFK, I don't agree him cheating on his wife was right by any means, I'm not trying to justify that. But you can't judge a whole person's life by one mistake they made...He did a lot of good things, and actually LISTENED to the people, something Nixon didn't, and for that they had him shot. No I don't have proof, but I don't need it. Jesus, Ghandi, JFK, Martin Luther King Jr, they've been assassinating ANYONE who wants to do some good, fuck government.

  • @MichaelBallack91 JFK got us into that war, you moron, and Nixon got us out! Almost a decade of the Democrats thinking they know how to run thinks. Those students had no legitimate cause, all they wanted to do was get laid, do drug, cause trouble and beleive that they know everyting.

Nobody compares to Jesus and Ghandi and Martin Luther King jr is above Jfk

  • @kenfla2

So they deserved to die? You can't justify the police actions, can you? Like the song says what if you knew someone. The point is, they had a right to protest, and they didn't deserve to die. Did the police try to arrest anyone? No. They just shot and killed 4 innocent people, 2 of which were traveling between classes, and had nothing to do with the protest. Did they deserve to die? The point is, the police were wrong in their actions and anyone who tries to defend them is an idiot

  • @MichaelBallack91 Four days of roits, did you miss that part. There was no more talking at that point, They were destroyoing property. Are you going to let someone burn down your house or buisness and say "its ok, their just misunderstood"? Rather or not they deserve to die is a matter of opinon. But it is what it is and they got what they got. Those protesters are responsable for everything that happened on that day.

  • @kenfla2

I didn't miss that part. I know people like you however. Who say "they had it coming", and then if it ever happened to you, or someone you're close with, you'd be outraged. I don't care if they rioted for weeks, no one deserved to die, they had a valid right to be upset, and you can't blame the rioters for being shot. The blame lies SOLELY on the officers, seeing as they're the ones who fired the shot. Did those 2 people who were walking to class deserve to die? Or was it their fault 2

  • @MichaelBallack91 Its the protesters fault that the inocent got killed. You know i keep reading the story cause i'm looking for anything to show you are right. But here is the bitch, the protester thought the guardsman had blanks which changes the story. So, its ok to attack guardsman without bullets but its not ok for the guardsman to defend themselves? I bet if your property was destroyed by riot you would want heads to roll. And you don't know shit about me so piss off

  • @kenfla2

i know you're an ignorant apathetic fool, that's all I know. You remind me of one famous ruler from a long time ago, what was his name...Oh right, Draco. Look it up, I'm sure you two would have been best of friends.

  • @MichaelBallack91 LOL, you comparing me to a law maker? If you hate the law and you hate a goverment power, why don't you take a trip where there is none, Somalia is a good place to start. You will see why we have laws to follow and a goverment to inforce it.

  • @kenfla2 you know what before student threw rocks at them they shot someone her name Allison Krause she was shot and she died for saying something tha came from her heart 'what's wrong with peace. Flowers are better then Bullets' and they shot her to show how intolerance would be dealt with. and also you're right it wasn't nixson who was the ass hole it was the ass who carried out the orders

  • @StarWars20002 You expect me to believe that shit after 4 days of roits. Police and Guardsman are trained not to fire unless fired apond. Trust me, i would beleive a police officer way before i beleive a bunch of adult who was trying to burn done a city block.

  • @StarWars20002 One more thing. Those students, more then likely, would of ran like cockroaches when the first shot was fired. That why there wasn't that many deaths because then there wasn't a threat, like police are trained to do

  • sandra scheuer was actually my moms cousin and its really sad considering she was related to me D:

  • Make love not war!

    Peace <3

  • we had something like that here in canada recently the G20. FUCK stephen harper and his conservative fucks

  • In a basement mate !? The sound is exquisite !! Perfect Cover !!

  • Eight people didn't have their volume on at all.

  • This really happened smk

  • I was14 remember vividly. I was thinking about being 18 in 1974.

  • they did it to us once, they'll do it again! but this time, we'll fight!!!!

  • History will never forget the crimes of fascism and totalitarianism. Hopefully we won't either.

  • A great Neil Young ! Thanks to him

  • Almost better than Neil... Great song.

  • Almost better than Neil... Great song.

  • Fuck Ohio. Fallowing in the footsteps of Michigan. Bringing the whole fucking country down with them and their god damn unions

  • @TheCottonTop How do you have a computer. There are no jobs in Michigan.

  • @TheCottonTop Yeah i hate it when they fallowed those onions. They fallowed it just like they did in michigan before, however they somehow fucked it up and misread the guidelines so they had unions instead of onions. Anyway they just did a crappy job and if they were true to their heritage like real Ohio onion farmers they would have ended up with much better onions

  • fuck nixon

  • I personally support the war in Vietnam (my parents are from Vietnam btw) and our courageous and honorable militarybut Kent State was a travesty. Described as our own Tianamen Square, this was ridiculous and unacceptable. What was the point of it all? The only good that came out of that was this great tribute to those kids.

  • it´s so great to find this song here...i used to play in that band back there in the 90ies in switzerland, i was the singer and guitarist in that band and it´s a live recording we did in our rehearsal place.

  • i never had copy of this recording and it was an overwhelming feeling for me to find this recording here on youtube.to me this band "forwaystreet" was the best band i´ve ever played with, gaston was a very decent bass player, sandro a tremendous drummer with a great harmony voice and remo ist my all-time-favorite guitarist.

i wish i could turn back times.

thanks guys for a wonderful time

    oliver

  • Wow.... Very very very good cover.

  • Super Darstellung,very good !

  • Why.....

  • AWESOME!!

  • Excellent cover!

  • This is the best cover version of this song that I have ever heard!!! Bravo!

  • america is shit!! change the system!!

  • @fwitvliet41245 No its not. You see this is a very long time ago. America isn't like this anymore. At least we aren't like China where they would just kill you if you don't agree with them.

  • the military is a dominant-discriminate superior force that only enforces society with violence and excuses. fuck war and fuck authority.

fuck you ROTC it just goes to show you, you couldn't fight against the real problem, you were just mean't to be apart of it

  • This is pretty damn good! The vocals are so-so but the lead guitarist has the right spirit.

  • awesome cover to a classic tune

  • an incredible cover and video editing of this song! stills and young would trip out on the guitar work if they heard this, an exact feel on stills' work ! as well as dallas' drums and greg's bass ! thanks for getting the gist of this song. personally, the vocals don't cut it for me, more like a john lennon and yoko take on it. but that's just me. thanks and peace !

  • Not bad, especially liked the guitar work at the beginning, good tone. Maybe a little more gain, sounds like you nailed it in the later solo parts.

Oh yeah clean your basement! LOL

I'll save my comments on the Guard and dead hippies for the appropriate clips.

  • Wow! I knew someone who actually was protester during this demonstration. This video inspires me to want to make a documentary on the follow up of the aftermatth of this terrible tragedy. This band is really tremendous!

  • yo my bitches singt mit . hänschen klein geht allein in die weite möse rein latte und kondom steht im gut fickt er wohlgemuht also wer macht mit (ich bin hänschen) und hannes hat nen scheisskopf

  • Well the guards men heard the fire in cease fire and shot

and one had one hand behind his back and if your in the military that might mean a gun so they shot him

  • I am truly moved by this video

  • wow i thought neil young wrote it : / who did???

  • hey nice vid man, check out my neil young covers and covers of many other awesome artists plus some originals too, thanks :)

  • Never before have I liked a cover more than I liked the original. Emphasis on never BEFORE.

  • even as an Ohioian, i dont think this event is well known as it should be.

  • My dad was just getting out of the Air Force when this happend

  • The only thing bush was good for was the military he made our military great but ruined everything else including the economy

  • Such as tragedy. Amazing song though.

I'm just shaking my head at all the pro-Bush comments in here. Come on, this is pathetic...

  • Those bastards that fired upon the unarmed children of Kent State should have been lined up and put to a firing squad themselves. RIP Allison Krause and Jeffrey Miller, Sandra Scheuer and William Knox. I would have laid my life down to see that justice had been served if any of those four kids had been my flesh and blood. It's little justice that Nixon took a day to die - Painfully, glad to say - for each of the four children he helped slaughter that day.

  • @tdpitt the finger shouldn't really be pointed at Nixon in my opinion. Most of the blame, if not all of the blame, should fall on those National Guardsmen who had NO order to fire on those students. If there's a protest you stand there and look pretty. You just don't fucking shoot at ANYBODY. Your gun shouldn't even be loaded in my opinion.

  • @cottond44 the men fired because of a rumor that the crowd opened fire.

  • @cottond44 your right on the shooting but if you think about it who is in charge of this stuff the president

  • @guy131313131313 Nixon did not shoot those kids, that's all I'm saying.

  • @cottond44 i know that but did u know that there was 64 shots 34 people wonded 4 dead

  • @guy131313131313 Wow, that seems excessive :/

  • @cottond44 we all know that asshole

  • @320263 chill out kid.

  • @cottond44 we all know what went there, the point is to recognize that some one gave the order to shoot unarmed people, that really sucks ( I am a Reserve offciere in the R.O.T.C. by the way )

take care you too, have a beer to chill out

  • @TheRetroZombie More lies to justify atrocity, the same kind of lies the Nazis before them used.

And your grandpa, being a worthless cop, was also a nazi, telling lies to justify all the women he raped in traffic stops and jail cells.
