@Deathshade27 if both your ps3 and your computer are on the same network, no there is no need for a router, as long as you have an active internet connection and both pc and ps3 are connected to the same one :)

@Deathshade27 well you can run an Ethernet from your PC connected to the modem to the PS3 and then bridge your connection from the PC so Ethernet from the PS3 can use the wireless or wired connection already in the PC

But I think there is only 1 ethernet slot on the PC... and it is the one already connected to the modem. It's an ethernet cable splitter. I'm planning to get it, connect it to the modem, and then connect the PC and PS3 each to the splitter with separate cables. Will this work?

that 7 hour thing about certain games is actually true in a sense, but only if you are transferring wirelessly. I can only transfer via ftp wirelessly at about 1.1 mbps so it takes about 4-10 hours depending on how big the backup was. with wires I can transfer at 20-22 mbps

@spawnabhi because FAT32 only allows up to 4GB batch files so any big games need to be transfered over this to be played. Also a cheaper option if your PS3 hard drive is 1TB and you don't have an external

@spawnabhi yes you can transfer them from your computer to the ps3 if they are over the 4 GB batch which only a handful are but your TB FAT 32 you can put most games on it and plug it into your ps3 and run them off that through multi-man manager. this is the best way to do it as it allows you to change them on your computer and then switch them over. if you need me to put up a tutorial to do this just PM gamegaze :)

@Pro9070 yes you do need internet connection, the ethernet is used as a bridge to the internet, so the internet is still needed. Get yourself an external hard drive if you have no means of connecting to the internet. %80 of games can get onto a FAT32 formatted hardrive hope this helps :)
