Nobody can come close to Tom Jenkinson's form. If Tom were not, Aaron would be the Man to beat. Well, there's also that D. James fellow but he doesn't seem *that* active anymore. ;) As it is, I love all their productions more than anything in this world. This is just how I feel. This tune makes me rock out loud and not give a shit about anything, love it.
@Jukeboksi they are all the best inspirations, of all the music i make, besides simon posford (as an earlier admirer when i started making music in 2009, he blew my mind)...they are the best, without a doubt...tom for sure...rich for sure, funk for sure...hell yea!!
@Jukeboksi I feel a bit uncouth responding to a two month old comment, but Aphex Twin will be releasing music again eventually. He's just been waiting for a divorce from his wife.
Okay. For the longest time I'd only ever listened to Venetian Snares, and not actually explored the genre. But I was listening to Squarepusher earlier and I've decided Aaron definitely is the king.
@TheDeathtacle Truthly I didn't like squarepusher at first either, but once it 'clicked' with me I realised just how good he is. And It's bad saying this on a vsnares video, but I like him alot better than vsnares now too! (as much as I like vsnares). Squarepusher takes alot longer to get into (like Autechre) whereas venetian snares is like instantly awesome, yet sort of lacks substance and isn't as deep so I tend to get bored quicker. That's entirely how I perceive them tho. just my opinion
@Jez4prez I can definitely relate to that. When I first listened to Burial, I wasn't impressed at all. But now I really do appreciate how good Burial is. Thanks, anyway. I'll take this on board, instead of just not giving squarepusher a chance.
At the end of the day you still might not like pusher but at least you were open minded and tried. The best advice I can give is try listen to squarepusher without comparing him to vsnares (which is what I did at first). I can still sometimes do this with artists but I'm working on it haha. Anyways a few albums to start with that are more drum orientated which you might find easier to get into are 'Big loada' , 'Hard Normal Daddy' and 'Ultravisitor'.
@Jez4prez I would say it's pretty easy not to compare Squarepusher and VSnares. For a start, VSnares has a far harsher, abraisive sound in a lot of his pieces while Squarepusher rarely (if ever) goes as harsh.
Notch sent me here! No not really but he did show me this album and I got addicted, I dont have spotify premium so I listen here. Nuff said I want to listen to the god damn song GEEZ haha :D
@ChloeZDeLoach It's actually not "from" that song, really. It's just a popular noise that I forget the name to. It's normally used with an amen break in DnB.
It's about Shut up and listen to it. You're trying to find great meaning in a breakcore track. This genre isn't about the meaning, or the story. It's about the sound.
@djaekemusic Yeah, this sentence sums up quite well the consequence of those teens posing in their bathrooms in front of their mirrors with their camera phones.
@saintsithney it's about anyone and how he can go suck a dick. if u cant say a person how much u hate him let him listen this tune. i think thats whats it is about.

I hear Squarepusher samples at 2:18. It's a sample from the intro to Come On My Selector. Anybody with me?

@deadithink And the sample from that tune is from a James Brown song... Fuck where does it end?!2
rorschachstiffocate 6 months ago 2
@deadithink That sample itself is from "Think About It" by Lynn Collins.
It's not from Funky Drummer.
