On an elevator recently as this song was piped in, a lady asked to noone in particular "Whatever happened to this song?" "It's been everywhere you can imagine" I answered. "Some show tunes drift off the stage and out stage doors into the ether. They dance & prance and swirl around in the air - they go around you in circles, they dive into fountains and dance with the water, spewing high & low with the water as it does it's act around the fountain. And they climb trees too

I have been a follower of La Streisand for 40 years and as much as I think she has more than stood the test of time,this particular song is not 'owned' by her.The true 'owner' of this song is Elaine Paige! Streisand has made arguably the best contribution to the world of music,and yes,she certainly popularised this song outside of musical theatre but it still belongs to Paige.Still,it IS a beautiful rendition for all that!

The song is entitled "Memory" from the musical Cats. "Memories" is a different song, I believe.
