IDK if you want to try meds its what is best for you. How long have you worked in the medical profession. Also you should see what is making you panic thats how you deal with it. Now this is not the easy way and taking meds do really help, however they are not for everyone. Practice breathing this helps with the tingling in the hands, face ect. I take them every day of my life i can tell you if you dont stop them now it could cost you your job, family, friends and so on.
I tend to have specific fears when i have one - but anything will be brought into it as a rationalization, if i'm in one. I tend to hide in the bathroom if its happening pretend i'm going to the toilet :P I think the paranoid fears that pop in my head mid panic attack (and how obviously false they are) made me the skeptic i am? Mine are pretty mild i think if you got serious problems you need meds.
A friend video taped himself 'withdrawing from panic attack meds i might link - it wasn't nice :S
I had panic attacks all my life but never took any medication I learned to live with it. I seen some NASTY side effects in friends with OCD who took them kidney stones and corneal deficiencies and shit. Choose meds wisely. You probably needed if you got to almost 30 without controlling them but be careful.
@shittyclothing56 Mine can come on from playing video games. It doesn't come on from stressful situations. It doesn't come from codes(someone dying) and doing CPR/intubating patients. It can but hasn't. I can be talking to people I have known for years and I will get one. I can be alone or in a group of people. You would have to ask specific questions to me for me to adequately answer them. If I am home, I ask my wife to come outside and talk to me during my attacks. She laughs at me.
@shittyclothing56 Panic attacks are different for everyone. I just start to panic and it doesn't outwardly show either. I can feel it come on. It feels like an adrenaline rush, which is probably what it is. It feels like warm water flowing through my body. I mentally(intellectually) know that nothing is wrong, but it does not do away with this feeling. It goes away on its own given time. There is no mindset that you can do. It's doesn't matter positive/negative thinking. Continued...
it's true that marijuana doesn't cure everything... i myself have panic attacks where i completely freak out... a few puffs of weed calm me down to the point where i'm actually able to talk... it's much easier for me...
1) I quit all milk products, some foods can put your immune system on high, this is known to do that, 2) Changed laundry detergent to unscented (Purex), quit using Bounce altogether, re-washed all laundry, made a noticeable diff, 3) Cleared out everything in bedroom, under bed, & nearby that was a VOC or made of petrochemical, 4) Currently trying cold therapy with a non-latex cold pack, 20 mins on, then off of forehead, this constricts vessels in brain - reduces swelling which causes headache
My approach, drugs are not the answer, what could be the root cause? Ubiquitous contaminants in the water, food, & air. We have never seen this before in history. I purchased a 1 gal water distiller & drink distilled (don't drink fluoride). I try to only eat organic fruits and vegetables (don't want to eat herbicides, fungicides, pesticides), I use a crockpot & food processor to make the vegetables edible (I put a combo of cooked and raw in food containers, and store in the freezer).
Air quality, got rid of all particle board furniture, contains formaldehyde. Put down a dust mite barrier on mattress. Use the Neti Pot w/ distilled water. Got rid of all scents in soap & cleaning products. I now make my own handmade soap to get rid of formaldehyde & SLS. Use natural toothpaste, Redi-Breeze oral irrigator, & salt water to swish-use distilled. Lookup uses of Borax, salt, baking soda for cleaning. Take a look at home & work for irritants (mold on shower curtain, in sink drain).
What you need is a way to eliminate the panic attacks for good, not calmly deal with it until the next one. The fear needs to be eliminated, Cymbalta will most likely just coat it, plus the health danger. people dont care how habit-forming these pills are. Its a serious hazard.
perhaps a change of diet, but mostly any changes, will take a few weeks to see if they work, due to the bodies need to change whats already in the syystem
keep us up to par, on whats what might help others eh
