  • damn, they luuuuv u

  • love this video

  • @SilentCurse008 I'm so glad!

  • OMG!!! that's crazy

  • They go to bed early - at dusk!

  • How do you sleep at night?

  • man i was werein ear phones

  • It looks like you attracted an entire state-full of hummingbirds! Wow!

  • Some people dont phuck around

  • WOW, that is unbelievable, I've never seen so many feeders and hummers in one place.. thanks for the great footage... Kym

  • Yes, they come in all colors and sizes. The red ones are actually more of an an orange or rust color. They are the rufous...

  • I've never seen red looking ones before. All we have are green hummers.

  • The local bar for humming birds! LOL

  • awesome.....

  • This reminds me of a beehive.

  • GEEZUS!!! THTS A LOT OF THOSE

  • I was happy to read(well, not actually *happy*! lol) that others have noticed a drop in the amounts of hummers they have seen this year also. My population is down by at least half. Not sure why. I live in CA near Yosemite Park. We havent had much in the way large fires near us, but our weather has been really off! Much cooler than usual, getting late start for springs and so forth. I am suspecting that is was something that interrupted the normal migration pattern, just not sure. :(

  • We are down in numbers this year, too. At our peak we had 18 feeders. We think it had to do with the drought we were going through (gone now!) and all the wildfires we had in the region that created so much smoke. Where are you located? Sounds like you're doing great with 11 feeders. We've found that they like congregating together, despite their rough antics toward one another...

  • I thought I was king of the hummingbirds until I saw your video. I guessed last year that I had about 100-150 birds each evening. I have 11 feeders, but spread them out about every 15 feet. This year I seem to have only about half the amount of birds. I would guess that you easily have 300+ birds here. You have to consider how many aren't even showing up in the video.

  • i live in canada mabe see 1 or 2 a year i wish we hade more

  • Holy f***!

  • I wish I could send you several packets of sugar

  • Wow!! That's amazing. I've never seen that many in one place at the same time, ever!!

You must spend most of your time making nectar and filling the feeders. :)

    Thanks for sharing the bounty!!

  • amazing vid

  • so what was that one you zoomed in on, the one with the longer bill?

  • wow! year 'round hummers! That's great. We at least get a break during the winter months. I have seen where folks use chicken feeders to increase the amount of nectar they can put out but we have not tried that. Might be the solution for when we want to be gone for a while, at least we wouldn't need someone to come on a daily basis....

  • We also have a tremendous number of hummers; refilling 11 one quart feeders once a day (some of the feeders 2X). During the winter we can go down to 5 one quart feeders every other day. Have you tried making a 7 gallon feeder, just wondering how it worked (there is a utube of one)? Best wishes - John.

  • that is my favorite feeder also

  • woww! this is remarkable

  • Dude I love humming birds best birds ever

  • A hint: Drill more feeding holes in btw those Perky Pet 32 oz feeders. Works great. Do you use 2:1 nectar? If not, try it - cuts the amount of refilling in half.

  • Yes, they are gone from my location in southern Indiana now. Sure are wonderful little things aren't they?

  • Very Nice. Looks like mainly rufous. I thought we had alot of birds!

  • wish it was in 720HD,...its sooo relaxing to watch these wonderful litle birds...great vid

  • Thanks! This is a private home? That makes it even more amazing. I might take you up on your invitation some time. People call me a "hummingbird groupie". LOL

  • This is amazing!! I just visited Lake Hope Park in Ohio. There were lots there, but not this many.

I was visited a great place in Mississippi last week. Lots of hummingbirds, but still not that many. What kind do you get?

I have to come and visit. Is your location open to the public?

  • @ronsig We have broad tail, Rufus, black chin and calliope. Our place is not open to the public, but if you happen to be in Santa Fe in July or August, drop me an e-mail here. We'd be happy to share them with you. It's quite an experience!

  • So many of them, looks like a swarm of bees. Have to make sure I put out more feeders next year. Had a lot this year and took videos of them too.

  • @rrbond07

That's the trick! Put out more feeders - you should get more birds. They are leaving us, now. We are down to less than 10 feeders...

  • Beautiful! Excited to see so many. Thankyou for sharing this video, can't help but smile : D I live in Nevada; the hummers come to visit often. Their wings move in the shape of a figure 8 and love the sound of their vibrations. Thanks again!

  • so sweet how they move.. like little pilots and the sound is cool when they pivot.. awesome. vid i love it

  • FANTASTIC!

  • thanks for feeding them that nectar hepls them alot on their way back home ...

  • This really should have more views. When would people ever see sheer numbers of hummingbirds in one place like this? I've never even heard of anything like this. Truly remarkable. Thank you for keeping that much sugar water constantly replenished.

  • Wow that a lot of birds....Great video your so lucky to be able to see that in life....

  • Good Grief..Where do you live?!?! XD

  • Northern New Mexico... Outside Santa Fe.

  • Talk about a sugar rush!

  • Actually, I encourage them all the time to put out more feeders but they seem to be content to have us feeding them...! It's a work-out so you have to be committed to it...

  • the neighbors must be pissed that u hog them all... hah

  • Awesome video, I was wondering how much food they eat each day i am lucky to get two hummers at my feeder at the same time. Keep making the cool videos and share a few birds with the rest of us lol.

    Thanks

  • We get them from Pet Smart. They are made by perky pets, I believe...

  • Where do you get these feeders? Online somewhere.. share?

  • Really great video of hummingbirds

  • we got some hummingbirds, but they don't eat from the feeders. We plant beebalm, and they perfer the flowers over the feeders.

  • It would be great to see some of your videos. Do you have any to share?

  • This is insanity. One of the most intriguing videos I've ever seen on Youtube. Wow!

  • omg

  • WOW !!! I have never seen that many hummers in one spot, Ya'll are SOOOOO lucky,Thanks for posting this video !

  • I have never in my life seen something so spectacular. Thanks for the post!

  • congratulations,grate¡¡ you a hero of hummingbirds

  • wow! now that is cool! Can't wait to see the video. Please send me the link when you post it... A pet hummer... right on!

  • OMG I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE HUMMING BIRDS I ACTUALLY HAVE ONE AS A PET AND ITS RIGHT HERE LOOKING AT VIDEO TOO LOL GREAT FELLA NO CAGE NOTHING GREAT FELLA

  • I love Hummingbirds.

  • I love these little guys

  • It's good to see someone love them as much as I.

  • They live here during the summer months. The amount of hummers that you see here are in July and August. We must be right on their migration path.

  • are these hummingbirds residents? Or are they just passing through the area?

  • 0_0 es increible

  • They are our dependents, that's for sure! Course, I don't mind seeing those who need help get it. There's more than enough to go around...

  • Awesome video. My mom has hummingbirds but nothing like that.

I just cant get over the political lesson I see over and over when watching the video...All those parallels between this video and the welfare system.

  • hosome i never saw one unlisse on tv and stuff i´m from portugal know way they come here beautiful

  • I'm speechless...amazing!

  • that is a crazy amount of hummingbirds...

  • Lots of poo

  • HWOW!!! i've never seen so many!

  • cool is it

  • its kind of sad in a way

  • Nice but a lot of work cleaning those and Perky Pet feeders aren't cheap. I sent you a video of an alternative you should try. Easy to clean, easy to fill and not breakable. I have Rufus' but not that many - you must be on the coast somewhere.

  • looks great! I could set some of those up on posts. I like the chicken feeders that hang. We should definitely try some of these options and see how it goes. Your right on both counts about the perkey pet feeders.

    Thanks!

  • They sell these things mostly in spring at seed and feed places or on the web, in 3, 5 or 7 gal models. I cut off the clips, rough the edge and paint that part brown to look like a twig. One costs about as much as the 48 oz Perky. The 7 gal is too heavy to lug - I put the sugar in before, dissolve in hot water and then fill the rest with a hose at the final site. I leave the jug out when I want to see 360 degrees but 7 gal lasts a week.

  • This deserves a higher-res version--good stuff.

  • just a question.

Is artificial bird feeding harmful for ecology ?

I mean since the birds are feeding over here, wont the flowers loose out on cross-pollination ?

  • My understanding from all that I have read and heard on this question is that we are providing supplemental feeding, only, and that the birds continue to feed off the flowers and insects for the bulk of their diets. We see them on the wildflowers all the time and we see them going after insects. In fact, we seem to have less mosquitoes around our house - or so it seems... Good question, tho, and one that I have had as well.

  • OH MY GOSH!

  • WoW! back to you! I didn't know our hummers made the Houston Chronicle. Cool! Thanks for letting us know!

  • WOW!! I had no idea they would congregate like this. Thanks for filming, uploading and sharing it with Houston Chronicle readers.

I'm off to go buy a few more feeders..... ;-)

  • Soooooooooo amazing!!! Thx so much for taking the time to share this :)

  • Wow, that is very amazing, and very cool!

Thanks for taking the time to post this!!!

They are my favorite critters to watch, and I thought I had a lot when a dozen or so show up to feed...geeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

  • holy %!#$ ive never seen THAT many hummers in one place! its an awesome thing to experience i bet

  • Whoa!

  • OH MY GOD... that'S AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is so AMAZING! I have three feeders that are constantly fought over by Anna's hummingbirds. We never get more than five or six there at a time. Do you get nests? We do! I hve photos of babies developing in the nests. It's wonderful. But, WOW! What you see is awesome. Have you ever been involved with hummingbird banding? Check into it. It really should be done in your area. (I've seen it done in Southern AZ.) One more thing...Can I visit?

  • Oh my goodness, I hadn't a clue hummingbirds were so abundant, even in New Mexico! How wonderfully spendid!

  • WHOA!!

  • Great video, wish i could get more than one to four. You might like to see my video of one eating out of my mouth. youtube search for odlaw18 Thanks for sharing your beautiful hummingbirds

  • Wow! Too cool! Absolutely mind blowing to see adult male Rufous Hummers sharing with each other let alone other species! Thanks for sharing this!-

  • WOW! Looks like a swarm of bees.

  • Holy Cow. That must be cool

  • Your lucky to have any, as they are new world only, here in the UK we have nothing like it. Saw my first (Broadtailed) in Wyoming last August on a coach trip, got some good pics. One of the hightlights of our holiday. This is amazing.

  • Preciosos. Me alegra mucho ver que hay personas como usted que cuidan de los colibries. Adelante y buena suerte siempre. Gracias

  • WOW. I'm jealous. I've never seen more than 3 hummers in my backyard at once.

  • Northern New Mexico...

  • Unbelievable! Where is this video taken?? I have never seen so many hummingbirds in one spot like this before!!

  • AWESOME!!

  • Oh my God!! I'm shocked!!!! We get 9 hummingbirds at once and we thought that was a lot!! this is amazing! you are very lucky!!

  • They are all filled with sugar water. 1 part sugar to 4 parts water...

  • Are some of those feeders filled with water instead of a nectar solution? Just wondering.

  • What part of the country are you in? Ours came in a bit slower this year but then they arrived by the busloads! Do you know of any one else who has been getting hummers in your area? I remember growing up in Ohio, we only occasionally got hummingbirds and it was always a big deal. and now that we get hundreds, it's still a big deal!

  • not one hummimgbird came to my garden this year.

  • Do you hang feeders or are you relying on the flowers in your garden?

  • I have a feeder and tiny red flowers that have not bloomed yet. In the past I always saw hummingbirds, even rescued one that was trapped between grass fences around the garden. There was a dark pink crepe myrtle bush blooming behind the fence too.

  • It's really amazing! God is so amazing! He created different creatures for us to enjoy! I love your place, hope i live in that kind of place too. say my hello to your hummers!

  • WOW! i was shocked with this video. i only have 2 hummingbirds in my backyard, and sometimes i get tired of waiting for them. but when i see them even for seconds, im so happy! where do u live? can i visit your hummers? hahaha!

  • saw your post on the video. I had 1 hummer show up at the end of May. She came to an old feeder that the landlord had. I was patient, now I have at least 20. I love to spend time with them. Different markings, different personalities and lots of fun. Good luck.

  • We have an extremely territorial female ruby-throated hummingbird that will sit by our feeder, at several times throughout the day. She preens and scratches a lot, and chases all the other hummers away from the feeder. It's amusing to watch, when she zooms off after one hummer, another one swoops in to grab a drink before she comes back.

  • HOLY CRAP!

  • Awesome!!!! That's a lot of Hummingbirds

  • wow!

  • Oh my!! fantastic!!

  • I need help instead of humming bird visiting i got more ants going into the feeder then them PLZ SOMEONE TELL ME SOME TIPS IM NEW AT THIS thank you

  • Put a large glob of vaseline on the hook where the feeders hang. Makes it so the ants can't get past the vaseline and won't be able to go down the wire to the feeder... Not entirely foolproof, but mostly... Good luck!

  • thx i will try now

  • Why do hummingbirds look up after each little sip?

  • I can only imagine that, since they are wild creatures, they must be on the lookout at all times for predators, ie: hawks...

  • Thanks!

  • gravity helps them swallow. Most birds do it.

  • OMG! I thought I had lots of birds at my two feeders! The noise must be incredible.

  • You mean the music? ;-)

  • hi! im in Chamisal. up in the mountains. we only have 3 feeders up right now but im planning on adding more. the air is constantly full of them and they stack up at the feeders waiting for ports. I just added a video of ours!

  • Just keep adding feeders and you will be amazed at how many you get. We're up to 20 feeders right now... Can you send a link to your video?

  • WOW! somebody else in northern NM with swarms like i have! beautiful!!!

  • Where are you located? I guess we are right on their path, eh?

  • You guys are amazing !. keep up the great work : D

    Charlene

  • shoot them thats dinner hahahahahahahahhahahaha

  • This so nice to see Here in fla we have only four tht come and they like there sugar water clean! I cant keep up with them they emptied at least four a day last year and its too much on me...wow keep it up

  • If you mean that you are having to fill one feeder 4 times per day, then sounds to me like you need more feeders! Course, more feeders will probably mean more birds... We usually make a whole bunch at a time and always make sure to have plenty ahead which we keep in the refrigerator. That way we can fill them not only as needed but also when we want to.

  • Awesome! Must be a lot of work refilling and cleaning those feeders.

  • That is amazing!

  • OMG! I want to live there!!!!My parents house gets about 30 in the summer, i get about 15-20, nothing like this!! wwow!

  • The longer you stay with it, the more you will get. Being consistent and Grouping them together like you have is the trick. Enjoy!

  • Yes, we get a lot of hummer action here in the Pine Barrens of NJ. Well over 100 individuals last year and every year we get more..... Nothing compared to what you have though!

I've favorited your video. Totally AMAZING!

    T H A N K S

  • A W E S O M E ! ! How much sugar do you go through in a season? We went through 70 lbs last year and I thought that was a lot. Are they mostly Black Chinned and Rufous? Things are really hopping here in NJ right now. I've got 6 feeders out all as busy as the one I filmed last week. It will only get busier as the season progresses. JUST LOVE THEM HUMMERS!!

  • We get Black Chin, Broadtail, Rufous and some Caliope. I didn't realize that there were that many hummingbirds in New Jersey. I would say that you are doing really good!

We usually buy 75 to 100 lbs at a time several times throughout the season. I couldn't tell you how much we actually go thru but it's a lot!

  • how did you get so many hummingbirds

  • We are consistent in making sure that there is food for them from the end of March into October. They just seem to know that we love them...!

  • I've never seen that many hummingbirds in my life!!!We've only had 2 come to my feeder, that's amazing!!!

  • If I had that many feeders I'd be spending my whole paycheck on sugar.

  • Looks like you need even more feeders! LOVE & ENJOYED IT!!!

  • WOW! We get all excited to see 2 on the feeder at the same time. This is madness, lol. Great video!

  • i would like 2 witness that i know they live in southern ontario but its been probabley 2 years since ive seen 1 ill by some feeders

  • Good luck! They are just starting to come back for the season. We have a half dozen or so, now. Love to hear that sound!

  • wonderfull n_n

  • Will one be more likely to get more hummers depending on the number of feeders they put out??
