Really great video thanks...... But one thing bothers me. Ok so you want to watch blu-rays? I can only assume that you have an HDTV and Blu-ray player. Why not watch it on the HDTV? You paid for the TV to display HD and you paid for a blu-ray player, you should watch blu-rays on it! I mean.... Makes sense!
@urbanitegeek well I'm actually more interested in it as a burning device. Since I do pro video jobs as well as YouTube reviews and stuff, it would be nice if I were able to burn my finished projects directly to Blu-Ray without having to buy an external model.
Go to system preferences and you can customise your magic mouse and actually make it so you can have right and left click disablie swiping. Try it out and if you get this message after you try it please reply if you have all ready found out the dismiss this comment.
continued: i use alot of RAM intensive programs such as 3ds max, zbrush, photoshop, After Effects xnormal ect. sometimes at once and my 7GB RAM windows Vista 720 HDD hp would experience lagging issues with too many programs open nothing too too bad but sometimes it was an annoyance so i was wondering what you would recommend 8GB or 16GB?
@Drastic1586 get as much RAM as you can afford. BUT you don't have to get the RAM from Apple. Just make sure you get the right kind. Apple's RAM is way overpriced, and it's the same RAM you can buy somewhere else. I have 12gig and it's probably not enough, but it works pretty smooth.
@MindPower009 Awesome thank you, so then replacing the ram in the system is relatively easy? o thought once these things where built you couldnt replace the size of anything.. just for purposes where did you get your ram? and what are some good makers? i supposed it what im asking?
@Drastic1586 HellHammer on MacRumors recommends 204-pin DDR3 PC3-8500 SODIMM from Crucial .com - and others seem to agree. I also like Kingston RAM but I am not sure it makes much of a difference.
@Drastic1586 ...also, it's pretty easy to replace the RAM. Just pop open the hatch on the bottom of the monitor. However if you replace the CPU or hard disk you void the warranty. They changed their policies a year or so ago to allow consumers to upgrade their RAM. I didn't know this at the time, so I bought mine from Apple, only to find out after the fact that I didn't have to.
love your video very informative I am looking into getting a new computer as Graphic designer I decided finally to go for a mac after being a windows user my whole life I just like the ease and just sleek performance of a mac 27" IMAC 3.4GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 1TB Serial ATA Drive AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2GB GDDR5 so my question is since I work as a designer i am also working to jump into my passion as a 3D modeler/animation artists so which size RAM should i go with 8GB or 16GB?
@mijboogie Yeah I'm with you. I don't like the magic mouse either. I'm going to shop for another Logitech M570 trackball and an Apple Trackpad to keep the swiping actions separated.
@matrixyoda Thanks, I love it. I hardly use my PC anymore. Even though it is a KILLLLLLLER PC it doesn't come close to the iMac. Yellow screen? I haven't had mine crash at all, and I've been using it nonstop since September.
@warmidgets Yeah I love it. Almost completely trouble-free. Only issue I had so far was the missing menu syndrome, which Apple seems to have updated itself out of, but was related to the HDMI cable being plugged in and unplugged, and some of my old 32-bit hardware and software doesn't work with 64-bit OSX, but no biggy, just a good excuse to update my old gear :)
@applefanboy98 Yeah, but not enough for my taste. I will probably end up switching to a pad and a Logitech Trackman Marble mouse like I use on the PC. The Magic's swiping functions really get in the way in some apps, unless you turn them off completely (which means now you gotta figure out another way to do things, like scrolling up/down, changing screens, etc....) So I'd rather just have a mouse with a regular wheel and then a pad for other stuff.
@BroBryce2009 Cool. I was kind of the same way when I switched to Mac. The other reason why I got the Trackpad is because I'm used to the one on my MacBook Pro.
honest and informative. I am looking to spend around $2,500 on my first Apple Imac this January. Your information helped me. I am a PC fan boy. Thank you.
It takes a minute to swap the keys if you don't want to learn it. Do you have an SSD iMac? This review is kind of terrible, no offense. I was hoping for some in depth PC to iMac insights.
@setite I'm not sure what you were expecting, if you think it was "terrible". This review is just that, a review. My own opinion, and it features the information that I personally felt was important to me. Each person has a different reason for buying a Mac or a PC, and I pretty much covered mine. No I don't have the SSD. I feel the SSD's are way overpriced for the capacity they are. Folks are just paying extra for novelty, IMHO.
Well I've been thinking of upgrading a dinosaur and I know very little about apple I bought a iPhone to use face time to talk with my family cause I am on the road working away. Are the video soft ware we use going to be compatible , cross platform?
@sprfitter1 What is the video editing software you're using? FaceTime for the Mac I believe is different from iOS, though they both use the same online network to do video chat and such. If you're thinking Final Cut or Premiere, I know Final Cut is not available outside of MacOS, and none of the PC video editors except for Premiere work on the Mac.
Just remember bryce, that Mic has one ring... pcs and macs accept 2 rings on the headphone style jack, so u can buy an adapter to make a one ring act like a 2 ring
@TheNews1990 Good info for the viewers, thanks! yeah I haven't looked at the Mac's jack, but I am a professional audio engineer. I'm pretty sure I can do it :)
@DoubleODude yeah when I built my PC I don't think the i7 had been conceived yet. It supports all the new Intel processors EXCEPT the i7. It seems to really make the difference for this Mac.
@Piznick64 I dunno. Depends on what you want to do and what your goals are. I can tell you I saw youtube channel spike in activity sharply when I started doing videos about the Mac.

Try to go in to your preferences and select speech. Then select the in line for your mic option. Should work.

MagicMouse app software tool:
MagicPrefs
MagicMouse is not a real good mouse, I still prefer the "Logitech Performance Mouse MX"
