  • Is this stunning? No, BUT it is really good,

  • Dam, classic track, im glad to say i seen him perform at disneyland in the mif 80z, i was about 11yrs old. I also have the 12" single... R.I.P. MR. PALMER thx for the menories....

  • @vdoscanr I envy you.....probably you didn't realize that you're watching a coming legend.. Cheers from Germany

  • To hear a fantastic live version check out the Live at the Apollo Theater concert. It's so tight and they vocals are mixed fantastic. Can't say enough about it.

  • beautiful man

  • 2 things:

    1) They pitched the song up in this duet, only the key they transposed to lead to some "uncomfortable" chords, that's why this whole thing sounds so unsettled.

    2) It's pretty clear they're having monitor or sound bounce issues. That's 100% on the sound engineer. Ever listened to someone singing with headphones on? It's pretty bad right? That's in effect what happens when your sound engineer fails and you have a bad monitor mix. Even the most accomplished singers will sound like crap.

  • HEY THAT WAS AWESOME.

  • She didn't mean to mess this song...

  • can't listen to this..who is that woman?--I think she's messin him up

  • @AlandChrissy They changed vocal parts so his part would stand out. Check both originals . The other by Cherelle

  • Hey dont diss this video, its the fault of the sound enginner if the vocals aint right, you all should know this!! if it was a small venue or club then maybe the singer has control over their vocal presence, but this is a big concert venue!!

Frank Blair on bass,, is, as ever one cool m'fkr on that bass guitar!! awesome ,

Robert as always , smooth moover!!

  • OMG...this performance turned me off!!

  • Everyones a critic, STFU.

  • omg sounds terrible

  • A horrible rendition of a great fucking song!

  • Sorry...but this performance was not very good. She's the harmony and she was too loud for that. Noticed some of her notes were way off key. He is missed. He had a great voice.

  • I Didn't Mean To Turn You On !!

    OOOouuuyeah!!

  • Any black person will tell you, we play the heck out of some Robert Palmer, he has so much soul, r.i.p

  • Not to be mean but he messed the song up and who is he turning on he is not sexy @ all

  • RIP Robert. Thanks for such great, soulful music!!

  • Wow he's sexy :)

  • you were the best robert i will always miss your voice rip xox wil always love you xo

  • I do not like the harmony at all with this chick! I know it isn't his original song and it was originally done by a woman but this song is not meant to be a duet IMO.

  • @SapphireSister

I was looking through the comments for a response like this. I thought it was just me that thought this. Their voices don't go well together...and on another video "Every Kinda People"....her voice is just plain horrible in my opinion.

  • @RapIsDeadly its nothing wrong with her voice..what they are doing is not easy.. for you maybe its because of the voice sound or level quality.. listen.

  • @RapIsDeadly

It is difficult to listen to great music when you're so use to listening to crap. They sound fine together.

  • @TheOnedeal

I've listened to musick since the 50's. They do NOT sound fine.

  • You might not have meant to turn me on Robert but, dammit, you did x

  • Director of Photography: JYOJI IDE / 井出情児

Directed by :MICHIHIKO ONOGUCHI / 小野口道彦

  • but you did turn me on

  • sorry!!! lol.. but this is LIVE, ok!!! thanks... i love this. i have become de-sensitized...lol

  • the rift at the beginning. minus that high pitched female voice, that really hurts. can this not be reedited to tone that down some bc althought i love this version, it is difficult to get through that vocal. :Phew

  • wow! this version is AWESOME!!!

  • Thank you. What a great man.

  • MAN...this is funky, true this is a wicked performance. So in control of the song & vocal....just perfect...shame about carmilla LOL...she still rocks!!

  • BJ ruins this song!!!!!!!! I wished someone would turn off her microphone so we can experience greatness

  • I like this duet between Palmer and Nelson. Although her voice carries a little more than his during certain parts, they still pull it off well. Great tune from a classy guy and girl. Bravo!

  • I feel the Sound Enginer was asleep, but the performance is still impeccable with a

dance beat to die for. I love the band and

the combined efforts of all the musicians and vocalist making this a great solid performance. I don't think there is anybody quite like RP to this day that personifies class and elegance onstage. I never get tired of watching his past performances on You Tube as they are memorable classics and highly appreciated. You don't hear this kind of music anymore

  • backing vocals ruin this performance.

like charleybones posted, it just overpowers robert's voice to the point where it sounds like he's backing her.

    depressing.

  • Definatley.

  • i agree, classy male would need a classy duet partner, e.g. Sade Adu

  • IMO I wish all of Robert's live performances did not include Ms. Nelson. She always took away from HIS performance. It was not BJ Nelson in concert. Just my opinion though.

  • ROBERTO PALMERA Que grosso que sos !!! Por dio !!!

  • does not need accompanied on this one...

  • The female singer's voice is too dominating. It distracts from the song. The vocals do not seem to fit together as a duet. The female singer should only come in with the chorus, but its everywhere. I suspect its Robert just being generous with her guest vocalist. But it definitely detracts from the song and overall performance.

  • Well, this song is hard piece and both of them were doing just fine, at least. However, after listening this version, then live version in some TV show, and his studio version of this song, it seems to me that Mr. Palmer loved the way the lead vocal line and backing vocal line make confusion about which is which. And - of course - this was Mr. Palmer's gig and - she wouldn't sing higher line if Mr. Palmer didn't allow her to. Or even asked for, or demanded. Great respect to Mr. Palmer. R.I.P.

  • I had no idea Robert Palmer was this good live

  • hes not,hes dead.

  • can we still be friend es mi preferido se lo dedico a maria teresa

  • She rocks! I love her singing.. ;)

  • Actually Cherelle has the best (original) version, but Robert is jammin.

  • yes i agree, but I can't find the video on here for her version.

  • she had to be great for robert to pick her! he had such style and class and was pretty funky at times! so smooooth! he is sadly missed. RIP ROBERT

  • ROBERT is GREAT and GENIAL

  • Super...

     Always Robert...

  • what happened with the pitch???

  • what you on about pitch???what do you think they are footballers.

  • She wrecked it!!! Robert had a beautiful voice. xxx

  • Great song she ruinded it!. I would signalled the cain and neck pull routine. Get off the stage woman! Turn her mich off.

  • Is Bernard Edwards on bass?

  • OOH! & I'm a straight guy!

What a classy guy. We guys can take a lesson, ?

  • Love that song!

    So sexy...

    R.I.P.

  • yummy!!!

  • OOOOOOOOOOOOH!

  • wow !!!! thanks man! no disrespect to the lady but shes totally singing over him , not cool. Robert Rules!!!

  • PartymanDaniel, soooo agree with you here! One of my favorite RP song covers, but just can't seem to make myself like 'this' version though. She does sing 'way' too loud and off key at times. (Sorry B.J!)

B.J. was his backup vocalist for over four years, and she was pretty good...but there were times, (like these) that she did 'over sing' him...(he's still so cute!) tehe!

  • She thinks this is her concert. Someone should've told her the name on the tix is Robert Palmer

  • agree . This is not a contest to see who can sing the loudest lol. She should know her place . R.I.P. Rob

  • Right. Her place as background singer given a chance to duet not upstage. lol

Her voice is nice but this is ridiculous that we're hearing her more than him.

1986? Where is she and who is she singing over now?

  • lol

  • Comment removed

  • What are you talking about? It's not her song. Cherelle sang it first and that's not Cherelle.

  • oop i thought that was cherelle. i thought that was her becuz she was black.

  • agree

  • I don't agree, it was not her fault that Palmer's voice was lower and not as strong as hers, or maybe he used the wrong mike, I don't know. If it was anyone's fault, then maybe the sound engineer's. Actually, I think she did a very good job, judging from what I have heard here, she could have crushed Palmer in terms of voice, but she restrained herself.

  • Still crying because he is dead......so sad.. no more Robert Palmer.........

  • the man.

  • esta morena acompaña a Robert Palmer desde sus inicios como cantante por eso le ssale muy bien hay que recordar que estan cantando en vivo

  • Great live performance.

We miss you Mister Robert Palmer...

  • la morena que acompaña a Robert Palmer ,canta como los dioces tambien ,lo ayuda mucho tambien tiene una voz increible realmente buenisima cantante la morena, very good the miss ,,,,,,

  • temazzzzoooo de robert palmer realmente bueno

  • Robert was so cool as always. Every time I see

one of these You Tube videos of him, it makes

me wish I could have seen at least one of his

live concerts. But, thanks to this website, I can always use my imagination. RIP Robert!

  • i had to stop playing the song sounded like baying dogs or yowling cats ..its a favorite song of mine but damn there was no harmony .the lady sang over him and he sounded like he couldnt sing ..there just was to much confusion .if i offened anyone by these comments @#*@ and other 4 letter words

  • Yeah I agree, I like the song but bad harmony with duet. His singing reminds me somewhat of Boz Scaggs.

  • BJ Nelson. He performed with her a lot. She is just a bit high in the mix.

  • This was one the suaveset performing whites dudes I have ever seen. I used imatate his just standing and swaying in his video

  • Not really digging the duet

  • Yeah, she overpowers him. She was just the wrong choice.

  • RIP Robert!! Seen him twice in concert once solo and the other with Powerstation! Mr. Smooth never even broke a sweat under the hot lights, suit and all!! Both Kickass shows!!

  • He is a god (almost) he was so underrated, I love him to pieces and love this too.

  • This clip makes me want to start a jazz band . This version sounds so good. I like the style of the vocals and duet with the female singer.

  • Unlike most rock singers today, he could deliver live consistently.

  • The best song of the king of music!!! He had the best moves!!

    RIP ROBERT
