Well said. McCain/Obama not much of a choice and not much difference. They both voted the same way in the senate for 8 years- both on the payroll of corporate America. Both way too deep in the CFR.

I have no reason to believe any are on drugs but there is no reason to believe I am either but still I have to prove my innocence and so should they. Humiliating? I think so.

Like Naomi Klein, I'm not disillusioned by Obama because I never believed in him. My decision to not vote 3rd party, which I now realize was a mistake, was based on thinking that the race was closer than it seemed (instead of less so) & the valid assessment that no 3rd party was close to reaching the fed. funding threshold. I also saw some potential influences in Obama's past which I thought might have some sway over his policymaking, like his childhood in Indonesia & his yrs in Wright's church.

Obama just unofficially picked Tim Geithner this afternoon. As soon as this was announced stocks rebounded sharply. This pick is just more of the same old thing. Geithner is the head of the NY Federal Reserve, he along with Obama and congress will continue to serve the Fed and not the people. Shameful pick! Not like there was a good one to begin with.

I'm looking forward to that snow here in Wisconsin soon, but I suppose I'll be cursing it soon after.

If I were more conspiratorial in nature I might wonder if Obama wasn't the perfect "sleeper" meaning he can bring "change" in a way that no white politicians under massive criticism & scrutiny from the public can because he's half black and a LARGE portion of the white population is AFRAID to question blacks because they are afraid of being branded as politically incorrect/insensitive/racist (these people AKA gutless pushover sissies).

If that truly is the intent, we will see peripheral but controlled-media attack Obama on account of his "blackness". These will be attacks without any substance, and be dilligently dismissed, and it will help change the psyche of the american public: "Obama is beeing unjustly attacked because he is black".

Curious what you liked/didn't like about the Clinton era..I believe we are so far away from 1998, it is not possible to re-create those days. Once Obama gets into the nooks and crannies of what Bush has messed with in our government, it will take eons just to get back up and running as the free country that we once were.

I am hoping what Obama says about liking to hear many opinions but remaining true to his own voice is the case...

My concern is not that superficial. I'm more worried about the modern state because what concerns me is sustainable autocracy, which the Chineese seem well on the way to perfecting.

The Chineese people are setting all kinds of standards, the most important is how little actual freedom people need to get by while still thinking of themselves as a free people. It's part of a worldview that's being sold that increasingly looks at freedom purely in economic terms.

Good of you to vote. I wish there hadn't been so many third party candidates running this year - it was kind of an embarassment of riches. I think there should a variety of voices, but the reality of the situation is that I would like a party to get to the federal funding threshold so it can work on getting a permanent seat at the table and breaking the stranglehold of the 2 party system. I wish there had been one candidate who could've focused everyone's anger and built a sustained movement.

I have to agree with you there. We do have too many (and I really really hate to say this) "fringe" parties. Maybe what we really need is another "cult of personality" candidate like Perot was in order to unify everyone. -Well, I have a strong feeling that after the disappointments of the Obama presidency, enough will be sickened to outright vote third party in 2012. What we saw with this election is just a tip of the iceberg with regards to third party support.

I'm a huge enemy of political correctness - I think people should talk exactly the way they want to. This isn't because I condone racism or bigotry or sexism or anything like that, it's just that I want to know where everyone stands. I want the racist to feel free to use racist language so everyone knows he/she is a racist scumbag and can treat them accordingly. I'm going to stick to my guns on McCain being significantly worse. It's more than McCain being bellicose, it's about him and his vice president actually being ignorant people who have a limited understanding of the world, and they both had serious anger management issues for folks w/ access to The Button.
