  • johnny you were the song that came along for all of us to behold and listen to now for 76 yrs...just lovely.

  • Yes, this is a nice version - Johnny Mathis has a great voice and knows how to use it. But the songwriters ogf these great songs are never given enough credit. If it weren't for them all the great singers out there would be singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star over and over again. Hal David is the lyricist behind numerous top 10 hits of the 60s and 70s. I'm not familiar with Archie Jordan, but he certainly wrote a beautiful song here.

  • I just love this version of this song--mind you I love Johnny Mathis's voice. The bass playing is so very very beautiful and very understated.

  • By far the betther version of this song, beats Ronnie Milsap hands down! - The 'Master' shows how it should be done!

  • he says purr feck , that's what makes him great ,no one else interpets song like he does , I can't imagine him not being discovered , ,he said in an interview their were others like him , I would not have thought it arrogant at all if he had said their was no one out there like him , he has a beautiful soul and it comes through in his voice , I hope that he has gotton as much pleasure from his singing as I have , I don't even want to think of a day when he might not be around

  • First time I have heard this song and I thought I had heard everything Johnny had sung. Thank you for putting this on youtube. I love J.M. more than anyone and this song was such a great surprise,

  • @cymboi I've searched for this song many times and have never been successful. The only ones I have ever found were with Ronnie. He sings it well but I do prefer Johnny. Thanks for posting this. Mark

  • Really great interpretation here by Johnny on a Ronnie Milsap song and great orchestra backing too.

  • @pick4guy, I'm not sure what you're saying, are you saying that Johnny recorded the song "Don't Give Up On Us Baby?" If so, I don't have it but would love to hear him sing it, great song.

  • Dan, What a beautiful video. I love Johnny Mathis, we saw him at the Palace Theater 5-6 years ago, what a wonderful show. He is not showy, he's just a fantastic singer. So romantic. I loved your black and white version in the beginning. Great Job!
