It says on spotifys website on the page where you buy spotify premium that you also get 320kpb.

At least thats what it says on the swedish website but i doubt its different for the US

Spotify gives 320 kbp at most which is more than what rdio gives

I've been using Rdio for about a year now and love the service. I tried out spotify and came to the conclusion that rdio seems better for discovering new music and spotify has a larger library. Rdio allows you to find new people and hear what they like where as spotify limits you to people you already know.

I enjoy rdio but like the size of spotify's catalog. No big reason to switch right now.

I believe you do need to be connected for speech-to-text to work. (Just like Android.) That's how they process and send back the results.
