  • release it on itunes you fuckers!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ditch084 download Danny FOngs multi track version , its right up there with this

  • i've watched this shit a million times and every time it rocks me. champions

  • Great! Congratulations, what a syncronism and beautiful voices. I loved it!

  • Love.

  • Heard this at an afterglow. I was blown away... There are certain experiences one can have with music that are so emotionally intense that they defy explanation.

  • Currently learning this with my barbershop quartet. Absolutely gorgeous piece to sing/listen to and these guys do a brilliant interpretation of it.

  • I love Vocal Spectrum, but nothing beats the first time I heard this on Gas House Gang's 5th. Rob Henry was diagnosed and later died of esophageal cancer and this song was dedicated to his son. Enough to bring tears to your eyes, when anyone sings it well.

  • @BarbershopHero For real dude. What a great chart.

  • pls watch my band videos too.... thanks

  • Sing, the arrangement is by Kirk Young.

  • Does anyone know who this arrangement is by?

  • goodness

  • Beautiful!

Bari is hiding behind a mask :p

  • I want to thank you guys for singing this song. Simply beautiful, it gives me chills.

  • does anybody have sheet music for this?!

  • What three people were nuts enough to say they didn't like this??? Superlative job and incredible interpretation of the song.

  • I appreciate that they used the full, complex chords, without the simplification of other groups, and that the highest voice blends without standing out. Beautifully done!

  • Beautiful voices.

    trevororrel

  • Billy Joel would be so proud.

  • I think they should slow it down a bit (I know Billy joel doesn't), but it is a lullaby. They do it beautifully, but my personal taste thinks it should be slower.

  • great job!!

  • i saw these guys when i was in barbershop

    and they are awsome

  • holy crap this is gorgeous.

  • simply stunning. I love this song so much - and this arrangement and rendition are phenomenal. Vocal Spectrum is just amazing.

  • Goosebumps. Unbelievable.

  • I don't know anything about singing or musical keys, etc, but I know good music when I hear it. The bass singer gave me shivers. They are phenomenal, and I wish more people heard music like this. It made me transcend my usual state of mind and go into a peaceful place, dark and deep, as the song says. Beautiful.

  • search out a barbershop chorus in your area. They will teach you and it's a ton of fun.

  • @AnonymousViewer1

I agree. check out the king's singers's rendition of this same arrangement. they actually did it first and I believe, superiorly to Vocal Spectrum, having six singers and a purer sound and overall recording. it's in related videos. enjoy :)

  • @AnonymousViewer1 do you sing barbershop at all?

  • @jamesbeining8790 I have tried my hand at some Barbershop singing, but I don't know if I have the voice for it. Instead, I've started making my own multi-track covers of choiral pieces by Eric Whitacre (which, if you haven't heard, I highly recommend you look up on YouTube, "Eric Whitacre Virtual Choir 'Sleep' " or "Lux Aurumque")

  • @AnonymousViewer1 This is One of the Great Quartets in the Society. Great Singers and awesome people.

  • My best friend sang this lullaby to his 6 month old daughter, and my Godchild, as she died. May you be in a better place my sweet little Claudia.

  • That's going to have to be one of the most touching things I've ever read. :(

  • Wow. That's really powerful. Brought me to tears

  • When I read what Terry46619 wrote: I Instantly started crying. I have a daughter her name is Katie and she is 6000 miles away. I miss her so much. I haven't heard this song in a few months and haven't seen her in over 6 months so I was already pretty sad before I read what terry46619 wrote. I'm so sorry terry. My that little girl rest in peace.

  • @terry46619 that is so sweet... that made me cry a little

  • @ashleyk329 80 of us released white balloons on the worst day many of us had ever had.

  • @terry46619

    sorry for your loss

..... may you find peace in our lord jesus christ who your godchild is playing with in heaven.

  • This song makes me cry what beauty and emotion. I cant stop playing this over and over. breath taking!!!!!

  • I dont know why but that watch beep at 3:19 kinda makes u feel the atmosphere in the hall. dead silence. its really intriguing....

  • i love vocal spectrum like no tomorrow, but this is def not one of my favs from them. i prefer the king's singer edition

  • This isn't technically theirs this is Gas House Gangs. What's so amazing about the song is when Rob Henry passed away the album came out after his death and he said he did this for his son. Since GHG was a big influence of Vocal Spectrum they dedicate this song to GHG and Rob every time they do it.

  • i love the kings singers and they are the best at what they do...but it's too clean (rigid) for something like this. their version, although perfect balance, timing and tuning lacks expression. I think this version has its faults, but i'll take it.

  • I don't want to get into any kind of arguement :P but i completely disagree. I think the way they sing this song emphasizes the lyrics sooo much i just love it. I don't think this arrangement is something to just "take" but to cherish. Just my opinion.

  • Good lord, what a beautiful version of this song. I love the bass.

    I love this quartet.

do you know where I could get this song because I have both cd's and it doesn't have Lullabye on it.

  • Gas House Gangs last CD that they come out with.

  • it's going to be on Vocal Spectrum III

  • i heard! im so excited!

  • Eric said it might be out by june or july!!

  • Vocal Spectrum III will have it! hopefully it should be out this coming summer

  • I agree with HauoraRock. (haha) This music makes me want to sing this song over and over again for the rest of my life. It makes me happy, peaceful and inspired all at once. The harmonies are so amazing.. the voices fantastic and over all is a buttery, phenomenal piece.

  • This is just amazing. Inspirational stuff right here

  • They guys are just incredible! I want to sing this to my two gilrs.

  • the tag is like butter!

  • Geez the bari gliss at the end is just sublime!

  • ich mag die Wise Guys Version lieber...

  • I was lucky enough to book Vocal Spectrum for their 1st ever Canadian performance in Ajax, Ontario on May 6, 2006, less than 2 months before they won their BHS quartet gold medal. They are an amazing quartet, and 4 of the nicest guys you could ever meet. I am honoured to continue a friendship with them, and look forward to seeing them again in a week's time in Anaheim. This video is just one of many fabulous performances. Constant ringing chords is their trademark!

  • breath taking absolutely amazing

  • Comment removed

  • Well done! Nice control!

  • 4:03 the bass and baritone gave me shivers, then i cried the rest of the song. beautiful guys. absolutely goregous.

  • No one in their right mind is going to give this to you over YouTube. The arranger asks for $100 over the BHS catalog. That would be a serious fine if they got caught.

  • nice very nice

  • the one on the left is my uncle...

  • do they have a cd?

  • two, actually.

  • they have two cds out. go to vocalspectrum. com

  • Two CDs so far ("Black Album" and "White Album"), and a third one coming this summer.

  • @COMALiteJ where to buy?

  • @Machigtree, nowhere yet. When it's available, it'll be for sale on their website, just like the two they have now. It'll also be available through other sources.

  • I wonder what colour =P

  • Your uncle is awesome.

  • the overtones make it sound electronic

  • It will be on Vocal Spectrums third. :)

  • Absolutely beautiful. I wonder what Billy Joel would think of this treatment.

  • The King Singers set the standard and you guys do remarkably well

  • I agree with you there Fairy, this style of music is highly under appreciated. Coming from a vocal background these guys have true talent and people should learn to aprreciate the arts ever so much. Fantastic performance!!!

  • I saw them live once, and they are one of the best quartets I have ever seen. Barbershop music is so under appreciated, but it's what I listen to most.

  • Group members: Tim Waurick (Tenor), Eric Dalbey (Lead), Chris Hallam (Bass), Jonny Moroni (Baritone)

  • VS doesn't have it on any of there CD's. All you have is GHG

  • WOW i love it

  • Just google "Gashouse Gangs Fifth". It should be the first one.

  • i am pretty sure that i have already favorited and commented on this video, but its HEAVENLY! this version by this group cannot be touched.

  • This needs to have like 10 times the number of views it has. At least

  • if not 100 times...this is music. right here...this is music.

  • Beautiful!!

  • does anyone know where you can find this arrangement? i know its arrange by Kirk Young but i just cant find it anywhere.

  • VS does do this song justice but you really need to hear it on Gas House Gang's Fifth CD. They recorded it just weeks before their baritone Rob was diagnosed with cancer.

Rob passed before the CD came out...on the CD this song is dedicated to his very young son.

I can't listen to this song without thinking about how profound it was that Rob had the chance to record this message for his son.

Even if he didn't realize that it would be one of the last songs that he would ever sing.

    RIP Rob

  • I second that, I also like Matrix quartet singing this.

  • My husband sings this to our son everynight...... not in four part harmony though!

  • incredible overtone at 1'23 we can hear the E bass

  • this is my favorite song

  • This is my favorite song.

  • this song is so pure and the leads voice is amazing. one of the best barbershop performances ive seen...its the perfect slow song and they make it perfect

  • god im trying to lift this song for my quartet and its soooo freakin hard.

i cannot pick out that bari part at all!

  • Wow, if you manage to lift it PLEASE send it to me!!??

  • will do

it make take a month or so to get it all and make sure its right and write it all down NEATLY but yeah.

    ill message you back probably

  • This song makes me cry every single time I hear it.

  • you guys are amazing.

you should learn josh grobans' lullaby

  • Oh my gosh, that would be amazing!!! Yes, please do that!

  • so pretty. it has been stuck in my head for days

  • Also I really love the baritones part. Hes got a really sweet voice, reminds me of the baritone from realtime. I dig his "squishy" part in this song.

  • I cant belive what im hearing. It is quite possibly the most beautiful song I have ever heard in my life.

  • Absolutely Amazing!

  • Eric does such a beautiful job with this song. So pure, so tender, just like Billy Joel would want.

  • this is sooo beautiful. they maintain perfect harmony the entire song.

  • Who arranged this? Was it David Wright? I can't find it anywhere on his website or in the BHS catalogue.

  • Kirk Young arranged it.

  • And it is in the BHS catologue, but there is a $50 arrangement fee. well worth it if your quartet can pull it off. Kirk young has also arranged some other killer songs like the Muppet show of Four Voices

  • Thanks :) Just checked, actually seems to say $100 arrangers fee. Understandable I suppose.

  • these guys are simply amazing lol, favourite song!

    lyxx

  • first time i see this performance live, I'm going to cry like a baby...

  • me too..i love it..gives me chills EVERYTIME i hear it. :)

  • i sing in the new tradition and they just did our spring show - this song does it everytime man, i was tearing up backstage

  • Amazing!!!! Simply Amazing!!! how can I get the music for this! I want to sing it with my fellow "first in state" music friends here in Illinois

  • When VS came to Sioux City, I had them sing this song to my wife. I know its a song being sung to a little boy, but my wife loves it so much, I figure why not have them sing it to her while on stage. Thanks VS for doing that!

  • I'm pretty sure Billy Joel wrote this song for his daughter, who was having some difficulties and questions during Billy's divorce (mom's leaving...are you going to leave me too...what happens when you die...etc.). You should check out his master class DVD; he describes the history behind this song, as well as many others.

  • amazing, my quartet did this, kinda, but this is way better.

    come to kansas! lol

  • Actually, they live not far from Kansas. :-)

St. Charles, MO, to be precise.

If you get a chance to hear them in person, DO NOT pass it up for ANYTHING less than a life-or-death emergency!

  • so beautiful

  • Love the original by Billy Joel and love this version. Amazing!

  • Absolutely amazing!! My quartet Back in Business absolutely idolizes you guys. We competed against you all, as Random Harmony, in 2004 for the CSD collegiate contest. Great sound, most important, GREAT people!!

  • I'am so touched! even i cried to the message of the song!

  • Yes, the song is dedicated by Rob Henry to his son Ryan Henry. Every time V.S. sings this song, it is a tribute to the Gas House Gang and Rob.

  • Sounds outstanding. Who sang bari on the CD when you and GHG did Scarborough?

  • mike slama

  • Hey, Tim, good to see you here on YouTube!

So, when're'ya gonna post some MultiTracks of yourself doing tags, to show off your Learning Tracks? Especially the ones in the SWEET ADELINE voice range (e.g. "'Smile' Medley" Tag, "Puttin' On the Ritz" Tag)!

You could post them as "The One-Man Sweet Adeline Quartet"! :-D

  • Amazing, And the audio is very good even if it is recorded with a hand camera! This song can be found on Gas House Gang 5th album, but I've been wondering to whom it is dedicated? The track title is Lullaby (Goodnight my Angel) (for Ryan)...

  • i've said it before, and I say it again: JESUS FRIGGIN CHRIST!!!
