Actually no. R = Reaktivnyy/Ruchnoy P = Protivotankovyy G = Granatomyot. реактивный/ручной противотанковый гранатомёт in Russian. It doesn't mean Rocket Propelled Grenade. NATO just gave it that name because thats basically what it is in a nutshell. In Russian translated to English "hand held anti-tank grenade launcher".
