I would say as long as it does not affect your ability to do the work on the fire grounds/ in training you should be ok. You could run into problems when wearing the SCBA though. Not sure I have not seen anyone with asthma so I'm just throwing MO in there.
No the SCBA is positive pressure so you have the need amount of air for breathing, its just getting use to the face piece. Some people feel claustrophobic when putting on the mask. That's why I say you could run into problems. Now we do SCBA confidence drills and they tamper with your air supply so you're not always getting a full breath of air. I don't know I suggest talking with someone who is a FF and has asthma.
@slicknasty36 i have asthma and my training isnt affected at all with an SCBA,running,climbing ladders,stairs etc.trust me if you can run three miles the SCBA is no problem with asthma

It didn't DQ me i do just fine with a SCBA and all the work heck i even smoke so you should have no problem
