The fact that the language has developed a word disparaging the act does not mean that the act is foreign to that culture. Dude I have read Plato's original works! I've read the dialogue, that's why I'm taking about it! In the dialogue, the situation that started the argument off was two rival lovers (the dialogue is actually called "rival lovers" not "male lovers" sorry) trying to impress a male they were competing over. That wasn't a teacher pupil relationship, please. In the Republic, Plato makes references to homosexuality when he is taking about the structure of the ideal city.

@koreindian1 What are you talking about Plato's dialogues are not called by those names, they have the name of a participant of the dialogue (e.g. Phaidros, Kritias etc)... also if you read the original text and translate the words as i am saying, it makes sense (and i am not the only one saying that. For example there were fathers and sons in the Sacred Band of Thebes called "lovers"... this proves my point, (they could not be actual lovers in the SACRED BAND!.
