The thing that always bothered me is why, throughout the whole story do they never think of their child? When I first read the book I thought Daisy's reason for putting off leaving her husband was because of her child, I don't know what divorces were like back then but I imagine it would have been difficult for Daisy to get custody without her husbands money or influence to back her up. And Gatsby doesn't seem to care about the little girl either even though she's Daisy's offspring!

The only thing I hate in this scene is the carpet color. Reason being is in the book Scott says the carpet is red, a dark shade of red of frustration. He used the color of the carpet to semblance the heat of the sun. The tension of the air, and the coming of a temper too much to bare.

There are several problems with your theory though. You see; Tom is high class. Notice he lives in East Egg, he was born into money. Doesn't have to work for it. Myrtle is lower middle class. Tom would not marry her, he can only use her. The same concept for Daisy and Gatsby is he was still alive. Gatsby is West Egg, he earns his money. Daisy was his "American Dream" and he died trying to obtain her. It just wouldn't work out in anyway for this story

Many people hate it, because it is kinda slow and strange, but i think that it was supposed to be that way. when I see how this fucked up monsters interact with eachother i feel disgusted and glad that I wasn't born in this era. This movie is hard to watch, because it forces you to hate the characters and their mindset , but it's still very interesting. After watching this I feel reminded why I hate people.
