  • Well done. Darn close to very usable tracks. Some guys commented that he hated the toms. I think they, and the rest of the kit sounds great.

  • @MrDarinWarren: Thank you. And yeah, "everyone's a critic"... especially on the internet. Doesn't bother me. I am not a sound-guy nor recording engineer. I am actually quite happy with what that sounded like personally. To each, their own, I guess.

  • Thanks for the replies. Again, I am not really a sound engineer - as some of your comments punctuate - and this video was more about the quality of the mixer, not the quality of my ability to engineer/produce a drum sound that everyone here would like. :) Having said that... I am actually quite happy with what the kit sounds like in this video. Obviously better & more experienced sound guys and engineers can do so much more with the console than I can. Peace.

  • not liking the toms...AT ALL

  • Could you share with us what microphones you are using? I like the sound. Does sound a little bit compressed though. I tend to do a little more compression on my recordings. Gets out a good metal drum sound.

    Cheers!

  • 360p sounds better that 480p

  • BAD OVER COMPRESSION ON MOST CHANNELS. THE AUDIO IS LAME AND THIN.

  • @JVD: it was either the main or control room outputs. Mixed from the board. I did a few "test" recordings and kept tweaking the mix then made that video once I was happy with it.

  • How did you go about recording the final mix? How where you able to record the FX from the board? Whenever I add some FX to the drums such as reverb, the final sound does not sound like it did through the mixer. The FX don't get recorded.

  • Man that sounds great! I'm gonna have to start saving my pennies to get one of those!

  • dude what skins are you using?

  • Excellent sound. Been researching the 16.4.2 and it seems like a terrific piece. Thanks for posting this! btw - nice chops too... :D

  • These mixers are a bit high in price for some people but you look at the cost compared to buying lots of external gear and a recorder along with a standard digi-mixer and you see that you save a lot with this unit.

I wish I had the cash to buy one of the Studio Live mixers now...

  • @SonicOrbStudios : What makes these worth every penny, is the fact that not only are you getting a mixer for that amount, but a gate/expander, HiPass, Compressor, Limiter and 4-band parametric on EVERY CHANNEL as well as on your Aux'es, Subs and mains... Then the ability to SAVE and RECALL entire scenes or individual channel strips (awesome)... And then on TOP of all that, it is a recording I/O for studio or live. It's not just replacing some outboard FX... it replaces expensive I/O devices.

  • Hey awesome sound. What daw are you using with that

  • Did PreSonus pay you? They should. I was looking for some examples like this.

    Thanks sounds great

  • @RobbieOtto : Heheh... GOD, no...! :)

I'm just an owner/user of this board and wanted to try getting some quick sounds using the internal dynamics and processing. I'm sure experienced engineers can get it to sound MUCH better. Thanks.

  • I'm very impressed with the sound you are getting. Can you tell me what you used to mic the kit with?. I have 3 more days before my 24.4.2 arrives :-)

  • @madmaestro43 : I just updated my description text with a link to the PreSonus forums where I explained my setup. I am sure you're gonna like the SL24.4.2
