@popstone1 Leary himself would assess you as limiting yourself to your reality tunnel. By that I mean that you obviously construct your perceptions of Leary from Robert Greenfield (who has a VERY negative bias) and others with similar perceptions. There is always more to the story (and reality) than the selective reporting, is capable of showing. Leary's contribution to both the use and study of psychedelics blazed a trail for all those who would follow.

@popstone1 Maybe when you have read several sources other than Greenfields defamation tome you will see that despite his personal drawbacks his positive influence created seeds of growth in this country that are just beginning to sprout. To limit yourself to one source of information and allowing that to taint your entire perception of what is what is very unfortunate. Greenfield's biography was ridiculous. It was so blatant in its biases.

@popstone1 Please keep in mind that the people who have studied psychedelic drugs for decades have found little if nothing wrong with LSD, cannabis, and their analogues when used by responsible adults (yes, it is possible; there are historic cases) in normal or even large doses. These substances are practically non-toxic and non-allergenic. Aversive psychological reactions are rare and typically result from misunderstanding the psychedelic effect. There's also a lot of sheer myth going around.

My degree in psychology means something.... but it would mean nothing without LSD.
I am GLAD to have taken LSD numerous times... however now maybe every two to three years... it helps me break apart the fabric of my reality and piece together something that is more pleasant... to rearrange my priorities and become interested in new and interesting topics and activities... to press the "refresh" button on my soul being and mood, to accomplish more than I could have dreamed!!! It always seems to help me when I use it every 2 to 3 years. Haven't had it for too long now. It seems to break up any dogmas I may have developed and go back to that sacred place.

I'm always looking and the hundred people or more I've talked to about it for the last ten years can't find any either and have no interest to do any. It's like it simply stopped existing in this town a long time ago. The only other thing I can think of is to ask random people off the street and everyone I meet but I doubt that will produce any results, I guess I'll have to make my own.

If I could give one earnest recommendation, I would urge everyone to take LSD. If you can provide original reasoning that shows why a+b=c then your views will be considered. But I've looked into this, there is no evidence whatsoever. Tim Leary was a true thinker and I respect him for what he did. When I took acid for the first time, I could identify with him. I wanted everyone to have the experience I had.

So your reasoning is that if Crowley was a satanist, Leary was a satanist for making passing comments about their similarities. Leary's 8 circuit model of consciousness plays heavily on the use of astrological sun signs. Both Leary and Crowley were Librans. I think he made a joke about being a reincarnation of Crowley. He was an odd duck for sure, but his beliefs play heavily on mysticism not satanism. I can identify with Leary wanting everyone to experience psychedelics. If used wisely and in moderation, they can be wonderful tools for working through personal difficulties in your life and establishing a basis for positive interpersonal growth. Direct experience of the divine.

@jwsyt2 Psychoactive substances don't produce the same end results. Different drugs have different qualitative effects. They also effect different areas of the brain and different neurotransmitters. Also, some drugs stimulate brain activity, while others decrease it. BTW The second sentence had some pretty shitty grammar.
