The dog is just using its weight, and he is a little overweight, his belly should be noticeably smaller than his chest, this is a large chested breed. There is a standard for a reason, and German Shepherds should be bred within 66-88 lbs.

I know what the experts say, but I have never found that to be the case and I have had many shepherds over 25 years, and over dominance comes from lack of discipline, not tug of war. if you dont' use strong discipline when your dog needs it no amount of NOT playing tug of war will help. does'nt matter if he is a gsd or a maltese if you allow dominenet or aggressive behavior it will conintue an get worse dominant behavior toward me has never been allowed at my kennel

@Royalairdogsrule So very true. I play tug of war with my Shepherd all the time. No dominance problems, and he is by no means a super well behaved dog, but if I say "release" he lets go every time, the first time.

Shepherds are Loyal, strong, and obedient in whatever you use them in. You can't call them weak for fighting, attack, or pursuit because they are the most common police pursuit and attack dogs. They are also the most common military dog because they are good at whatever they are trained in. There is a reason they use certain dogs in dogfights, because some dogs are naturally more aggressive.

Dog fights are illegal anyway, why the hell would you brag about that?

german sherherd is only a medium size breed.

Caucasian Ovcharka, Kangal and Central asian Ovcharka is Huge and Heavy boned.

German sherherd can NOT on any level compare to the big strong livestock guardian dog breed like the Central asian Ovcharka.

A small game pit at 35pound will beat any german sheperd.

The only real good thing with german s is that they have high IQ but as working dog they are worthless.

Have you ever seen a King Shepard? Their ideal body weight is 135 , but they can get as heavy as 152 lbs. They are at an average of 73 cm in height.

Central Asian Ovcharka is about 78+ cm. The weights are different, with the Ovcharka at about 15 lbs more, because it is "big boned." But that is the only reason, King Shepards have [mostly] a muscular frame and build, much more so than the Ovcharka (wider).

The reasons Shepherds aren't used in fighting in Turkey, or any country for that matter, is because of their Jaws. They may be unnaturally strong, but there are many other dogs that lock their jaws when bitting and the only way out is to tear yourself away.

However, dogfighting is wrong and I'd prefer we'd try to prove our points in other ways. Dogfighting is a very odd thing to use for comparing. Too many variables. Lets stick with statistics, not preference.

Dog fighting is not good when you have 2 pit fight for 1hour+

in a small cage. But seriously in turkey when 2 big dogs fight there it's no broken bones almost no blood and the fight goes on for less than 5minutes then the owners split them appart and the fight is in a huge grass/weed field. In the wild it's only natural when 2 dominated males meet, they will start to fight. There is huge difference between staged cage fight and weed field fight

When i was younger, i was walking my German shepherd, and my neighbors vicious Akita came after us,, my German shepherd tore it up in less than 10 seconds!

I love this video! Despite the fact breeders of other dog breeds might try and claim there breed is the next big thing, the German shepherd is one of the strongest dogs out there,, its a matter of body mechanics and what they were developed to do! Thats why they are the #1 police and military dog. Plus, dont forget, they were used to defend there herd successfully from dangerous predators! BTW, Mark is a great looking dog!

Max von Stephanitz was the father of the German Shepherd dog and if he saw what we all made of it he'd turn around in his grave. The German Shepherd dog is suppossed to be a working and herding as well as family dog. They are never suppossed to be as big as they are here. For those of you thinking of the old style shepherd, size should be only part of what you are looking for there is temperament of main importance for the family not show or schutzund for me but if you are breeding a dog for that great we need good police dogs outthere! We have that too, just not oversized like yours. We breed them smaller so they won't lose their agility. They have a normal back, strong bones, healthy hip and a great temper. The only difference is the size.

it's harder to get good silvers anymore, but I am getting more and more what helps to get a true silver is adding some white but my goal is to get the silvers with just as good a temperament and health as my black and tans with the same size and bulk and hips and elbows .. thats the hard part.

I am the human in this video who is also buyng a puppy sired by the dog in the video (Silver Mark). Royal Air dogs are large sized and straight backed GSDs. They are not AKC show dog standard, but are AKC registered. Silver Mark is about 29.5 inches tall and about 124 lbs. He is very lean and muscular. Some of his sons are taller. Royal Air is a great breeder developing great bloodlines for those who don't want a sloped backed or roached backed show dog.
