I don't understand why people would be complaining about the music featured in this prod. It's spectacular, progressive, diverse and innovative. If anything, I wish there were more demogroups producing this style of music.
Needless to say, the whole production is stunning. Much love for ASD. <3
ASD should hold at least 5 of the top places on Pouet. Their demos are far better then Debris, Popular etc. Not just talking about the technical side here, but design, art, flow. Everything.
One thing that has been bugging me for a while, is that the the music by you, aMUSiC, and Leviathan, make very good soundtrack together, that doesn't have much of a sync with the visuals. It seems as if you just put a track over a silent composition, far away. It seems as if you and Leviathan are distant from the coder and the 3 graphic artists.
What groups did in the past, and what some groups continue today, is to almost make audio and video one. Maybe you should do so as well.
@LifeWaste1618 I disagree, the music in ASD productions fits seamlessly with the visuals in both emotive effect and composition. What they have achieved is exemplary.
@FoxAnteh It doesn't seem as if the two don't have any relation, but some parts feel pretty detached.
This one seems to have some of it off. LifeForce and Rupture seem kind of better in that same zone. The sync is rough and doesn't hold it's stance so well.
If you don't understand why people think differently from you, as in complain about the music featured in this product, which means one of us is blind-deaf.
@LifeWaste1618 Are there any specific sections of the production that you would care to reference? As a practising musician, I'd like to think that I have a pretty good ear so if you're suggesting otherwise then I'd like to know what you're referring to. Time points in the video perhaps?
Visually one of the most stunning demos ever. Musically, seems a lot of people agree it's lacking a bit. I've had that with ASD demos for a while.
Being a guitarist myself, I think part of the problem is the guitars just sounding too weak and thin. What you need is a mix with a level of bombast that matches the visuals.
This has to be the best demo ever made. One thing though, the music totally Kicks ass. The animations and demo itself are kick ass Just, why name the music "Tortuga turtle??"
Guys, I love your demo making style, it's really stunning, your art goes beyond just a demo, it's a form of modern art, should be shown on TV. Really awesome. Thanks a lot!
Demo's like this remind me what, digital art work is all about, the blend of code, art and music, bringing a 8minute piece of beauty. In a hundred years time I really hope that these pieces are not forgotten, and that the makers are revered like the classical painters and composers of old.
Constructive criticism here : while the visuals are incredible, I find the music very bland. I know it took a lot of work and care but it lacks -melody-wise- the "catchy" factor that makes a tune "unforgettable". Remember Purple Motion could create magic with only 4 channels but a real talent at composing. Production-wise, the drums should definitely be more punchier, yeah it lacks punchiness
@Boulotaur2024 I personally accept all types of critisism (I'm Leviathan btw) but it's just hard to keep everybody happy my friend and I would defenatelly NOT write a mainstream thingy just to win votes, above all it's about respecting what the team of the group really likes to do and vice versa. I hope next time we'll write a more pleasing track I guess.
Great to hear some metal riffs in this demo. Wish more demos had a sturdy metal track, it adds grit and punch to the presentation. Lots of work went into this. Good job guys.
Great Demo, I think you guys mentioned you were planning something special, you certainly delivered! Big thmbs up, and even with big competition from Fairlight with a (personnaly speaking) better demo than Agenda... a worthy 1st place for you - congrats!
@nurelgrc most of this track's composition is Leviathan's doing. I'm responsible for the keyboard parts, effects, the intro, some small segments and the priests =P
sorry but 60 mb demos just dont impress me ... how much of this is precalc ?
about the music, its not very bad, but little bit jumpy, too many switching between different styles, some may like it, some dont. What I found most disturbing about it was the electro guitar tone, sounds really cheap.
@jarjar2b Oh COME ON! REALLY? This was 3 guys who made this, and you whine about the music when the animation itself is some of the most impressive ever made, and it's real time!!!
@jarjar2b Textures and audio take up the vast majority of the size, as with anything these days 99% of it is just data. You want something to look pretty with lots of details? don't complain about the size...because if it didn't look this good then you'd moan about the crappy textures, can't have it both ways ;p
In the future, I'd love to hear the guitar have more power in the mixing in these ASD tracks. More low frequencies or something? Because it sounds quite lame and hissy imho, which is a shame because the guitar has an important role in this song and it's great otherwise. (Also maybe the hihats could be quieter.)
Don't get me wrong though, it was definitely a well-earned victory at the asm demo compo. :)
good job! although i found the music a little bit gimmicky in this one, there is always room for something new ;) apart from that, this is demoscene redefined, again.
This is jaw dropping as I expected. I find it somehow to be a part 2 of Lifeforce, because it has so many similarities. Still imHO Fairlight & CNCD won the ASD - Fairlight battle this time. This is quality, Fairlight is style. And keWlers were great too!
@extremrams yea, heard Navis say so after the compo but didn't know about it before :) Lifeforce however was much more powerfull than this one. Like usually the original ones are better than sequels.. :p
Hi aMusic. Is possible to have this fantastick soundtrack in loseless format? (WAV/FLAC)
The mp3 isn't enought! :P

@amusicgr You should've done more for your part. The visuals are amazing and the music ruins it for me. Hope to hear more from you in the future.
poorinreign 9 months ago
Actually, aMusic is on record that the guitar is real, because it's his guitar and that he writes most of the ASD sountrack on that guitar.
As amusic also appears to be the uploader, I'm sure he could confirm/deny.
Also? Genre jumping? That's why it's called progressive. I like that style, and I like this track.
