  • Just love Bing Crosby and I am only 2 and a half.....

  • Maybe someday i'll go back again to Ireland

If my dear old wife would pass away

She nearly has my heart broke with all her naggin

she's got a mouth as big as galway bay

See her drinkin 16 pints of Pabst Blue Ribbon

And then she can walk home without a sway

If the sea was beer instead of salty water

She would live and die in galway bay

  • My Irish stepfather used to sing me this song. It's one of my most cherished memories.

  • I'm fine, I just need to roll up the windows, turn the heater on, and blast the lullaby station.

  • I like Bing Crosby music, but he beat his children, so that changed my mind and about his reputation .

  • @beccaiscolness4life With Logic like that Jesus was a necromancer rising the dead!!

  • i FUCKING hate him!!! FUCK BING CROSBY

  • Fuc!!k Bing Crosby !!! He was nothing But a Child Abuser.. I love his Voice. I could Give A Shyte about his Legacy.. I Try to sing like him for no reason...

  • I agree with73Mister T Bing had a very unique voice!

  • what??? Bing Crosby....singing Galway Bay..that is mad..I cant believe that....a small irish song like that covered by Bing...cool!

  • Her beautiful eyes always stand out.

sus hermosos ojos siempre se destacan. Felicitaciones

  • Bing is amazing

  • Beautiful song very nicely sung by Bing! Thanks for sharing it! 5*

  • I like the comment by an English poster claiming that a British army officer wrote Galway Bay. Made my day. :o)

Having images of him downing pints of bitter in the army mess as he writes :

"Oh the strangers came and tried to teach us their ways,

They scorned us for being what we are,

But they might as well be chasing after moonbeams,

Or light a penny candle from a star"..

Thank you for the comic relief and please feel free to simply enjoy our cherished songs. :o)

  • Bing had a perfect voice.

  • the album came out before he died. i bought it and still have it. i went to his last concert before he died and am a huge fan

  • @kzule1 Hi kzule Since you;re a Bing fan, keep an eye on my channel: I'm about to put about 20 Bing Crosby songs up, gramophone, in the coming days. Lengthy process! My Dad wrote to Bing many years ago and sent him some poems my Uncle wrote about golf and fishing. Bing replied with a signed photo and a nice letter and promised to show the poems around. The photo and letter are still on the wall, 35 years later. :o)

  • the photo was taken after he died, when he sudenly acquired the mick accent i dint know

  • How long after he died was the photo taken? I know he loved that hat.

  • @samuel17517 Actually, the picture was taken a few weeks before he died. Might even have been a few days, I can't remember.

  • Thanks

  • Thanks! Enough to bring a tear to a glass eye.

  • There was none like Bing, he could, and did sing any type of song, and do a very good job of it.

There is no one like him today, worst luck.

This head bashing noise that they call music today should be banned

  • @73MisterT I love Bing and I love motorhead. Maybe I'm a freak. I love Doris Day and Metallica. I can't help it!

  • Silly old fool! Rant rave! In my day you could leave your door unlocked and children had respect for their elders, etcetera etcetera! Give it a rest for God's sake!

  • @NSL165 So which one was written by your 'British' officer? And what the fuck does a British officer know about Ireland?

  • He was born in Enniskillen. Get a life get the facts and get a job.

  • Which is in the British part of Ireland by the way.

  • ........and a happy Saint Patrick's Day to you,sir!

  • @73MisterT mark as opinion

  • I got Bing's Irish album. It's very good. I especially love his renditions of That Tumbledown Shack in Athlone and Isle of Innisfree.

  • Five stars. This is marvelous.

  • my grandmother came from the claddage

  • wish he would have cut this with a traditional irish band, its still wonderful though

  • johnny cash version is the best!!!!!!

  • @utmindfreak

Not as good as the one by Rosanna Barr

  • Great song! Great singer!

The lines "The women in the uplands diggin' praties speak a language that the strangers do not know. For the strangers came and tried to teach us their way They scorned us just for being what we are... " were not allowed to be sung in Ireland by the 'strangers' ie The English.

  • Wise up. The lyrics were written by a British Army officer.

  • @NSL165 There are two songs named Galway Bay. This is the older version, written by Francis A. Fahy (born in 1850). The air is My Irish Molly, O.The other version begins:

If you ever go across the sea to Ireland,

Then maybe at the closing of your day,

You will sit and watch the moon rise over Cladagh and see the sun Go down on Galway Bay. That version was was written in 1947 by Dr. Arthur Colahan.

  • @NSL165 Get a job! Get a life! Get the facts!

  • Although I respect Bing, this version sounds so 'Hollywood'. I would love to hear him sing it with a traditional Irish band.

  • Can't believe Bing Crosby sung this song

  • why? he was irish.

  • Didn't know he had connections with ireland till recently

  • LOVE BING CROSBY AND IM 15

  • thats because you have good taste!!! age has nothing to do with it!!!

tell your friends... id love to turn on a radio and hear someone with half this talent singing today!!!!

  • I'd be glad to hear someone a quarter as good! (and I'm 17!)

  • @asianboy7777 thats mature of you! :) i love celtic woman's version of this song :)

  • Incomparable.

  • I dont care for this pic of Bing... It makes him look so old. There are so many other pic that show his true greatness..

  • It was taken 3 days before he died.

  • Bing loved these Irish ballads and gave them a wee bit o' the lilt as he tunefully crooned each one. Blessings to der Bingle.
