  • I saw Munir Bashir playing the Opera of Paris in 1976 and it was great :).

  • Wait, are these compositions all based on Western scales and conventions? Will someone who knows help? Thanks :)

  • It sounds so big, I can't believe its less than 2.5 minutes long!

  • yes, he was awesome and he also influenced a lot of oud players. I used to play that piece.

  • i wish i could see him play in real life

  • @wang0fett

    he`s did 6 years ago ,,

  • mmmm

  • This guy is an amazing musician!

  • Arab music is read by right to left or left to right?

  • they use western notation

  • were can I find the tabs for this

  • coooooool

  • Why not?

  • Unbelievable..

  • and the "kurdish" song, Ez Kevokem, type it in youtube, it has a pic of a old guy, that is his song and he playing in the song, but he gave it to a kurd.

  • yes he is assyrian

  • @Yeahdan23 will you stop with this crap already

  • Awesome!!!! He's Maestro!!!

  • I have what is perhaps a silly question, but is Munir Bashir considered one of the masters of the oud? I've watched a few videos of him playing and find him to be an absolutely amazing musician! thank you for sharing.

  • oh ya, he most definitely is

  • ممتاااااز

  • where can i get the audio recordings of this great piece?

  • go to munir Bashir WIKI, i think they have a link to World Music Store.

  • wiki is wikipedia?

  • yes,, i try to find it for you the next days,,i cant really remeber where i found that WEB then..i let you know..

  • thank u very much.... love mounir bashir....

  • Try the BBC arabic radio.

  • thank u... i will try it....

  • simply the master..........

  • صدقت

  • Although I dont remember the composer, El-Asfour El-Tayer is considered one of the most important and difficult Oud pieces ever, A show of absolute skill, virtuosity & Ability....This is Mounir Bashir after all

  • I have the printed version of "oud method" of Şerif Muhiddin Targan, which contains all of his compositions anda this piece doesn't exist there. But I can say that the style of composition is absolutely inherited from Targan (which is perfectly normal under those conditions!)

  • it's a Serif Muhiddin Targan composition... His Oud Teacher, and grandson of Prophet Mohammed(S.A.V.)

  • this is 100% munir bashir composition .

  • to Zihgir

just leave your Prophit a side

    this is Munir Basheer 100%

  • @zihgir doesnt really matter since this song's genius lies with its technique and not its notes

  • @Hfarah31 Without notes there is no technique. Without technique there are no notes.

  • @ZeitOner sure... but all im saying is that musically this song has nothing interesting. it just goes up and down a minor scale and various chromatic scales. Where its beauty lies is in its insanely hard to master technique that not a lot of oud players can pull off.

  • @Hfarah31 I see what you mean about appreciating the technique. I suppose you are listening to it from the performative aspect. Of course I can't argue about the composition while you argue about its transcription or performance. Agreed, the technique is great for this.

I don't however agree that the song has nothing interesting. What you said would be like criticizing Flight of the Bumble Bee for going up and down the chromatic scale.

  • THX uploader :)

  • the 2 Iraqi brothers, Jamil and Munir Bashir are truly legend Laut players..good peace of music,,thnx for the clip

  • the best ..

  • Thank you so MUCH uploader!

  • Awesome.
