I see you keep looking, like watching this video and hoping, hoping to find a way. Hoping that you can be the one who can control the world and your addiction but you keep getting the same results that you cannot quit. You to lash out and blame.
Keep coming back it will work for you when you let go and let God. Till then you'll remain angry and sad. So sorry for your pain. I am saying a prayer for you now hoping you'll find a way that will work for you.
this is for anyone other then just an alcohol problem. its for headaches, drug problems any issue u may have. Christ based recovery for ANYONE with ANY problem. Everything is based on and from GOD!
Great kindness in making the video.i hope though, you"accept"with an open-mind,that although well intentioned, the video is not representative of "AAs programme"nor do its end titles reflect accurate sourcing.P47 BB tells us"much to our relief,we dont need to consider anothers concept of God" A"willingness"to believe,or choice of concept of God that makes sense to us( P47)is AAs message.if using spiritual termsBB says"we must ommit our own personal religious convictions however strong they may be"
I was abused in the catholic church, but through A.A and my psychologist i've been able to completly releive myself of my resentment. I can't believe i'm that awful feeling went away, I even went to church, and i actually pray now? what an amzing problem, tremendious amount of respect to you and all those who posted, thank you very much.
I am so grateful to Bill Wilson and all of the early founders of AA. The program comes from The Bible because God is original author of all recovery. For those that got sober/clean/healed without Jesus, think about this...God loves us so much that He heals even those who don't call Him by His Name. The secular 12 step programs were my paving stones to Jesus and to Celebrate Recovery. I am forever grateful!
@supercrevolution ..Well just to share a piece in the Big Book of AA by herbert spencer says, " a principle which blocks information and is bound to keep us stuck ..contempt prior to investigation... man the words are beautiful to this song, Believer or not. Give it a chance my friend. Love you and Please, keep an open heart.. AA says how quick our minds snap shut when God is mentioned, and religious ideas. Dont miss the blessing my friend
This is great, 25 years without any mood altering drug. I thank the people in the fellowship, God and my family. I accept today, I try to stop fighting every one and everything on a daily basis, I am still learning thank all that have helped me along this wonderful journey, remember to help others. Love to all
AA done more harm to me rather than help me. If your a newbie, you give away all your power to them and they tell you "I can help you" but they can't help themselves. Any addiction can be conquered and it's a choice.
AMEN!!! wow this was such a great video and reminder for me, I go to Celebrate Recovery and today i couldn't make it to the meeting, but seeing this beautiful video was like a mini-meeting for me and was a great reminder to my goals. Thank you! :) And i also agree that the HP can be any higher power..and if yours' is Jesus then WTG girl!! you see the Truth that some can't see, i am glad to see a fellow Christian sharing these beautiful concepts on youtube!
I totally agree. I am a recoverying addict and Though the process I choose jesus as my savor. I have a few friends in Celebrate Recovery. I love the idea. Alot of christians believe that the process of recovery is against the Bible and God. I always ask them then how did I find God though the Rooms of NA. I normally comment on the haters site. But I am giving my-self a break for the insanity. Thanks for your comments. God Bless even the ones that don't believe.
You have just done AA a GREAT DISSERVICE by assoctiating AA with Christianity. You have just shut out Muslims, Jews, Buddistists, and any other religious body from thinking they might find help in AA. I would ask you to voluntarily take this video down. THE ONLY REQUIREMENT FOR AA MEMBERSHIP is a desire to stop drinking. Read Tradition 3 carefully.
Your thought is that I am not allowed to let MY HP be Jesus Christ or show others what I see. At some point hopefully you will see that just that fact you feel you must control this video you are missing the few hundred pages that come after the preamble. Keep comming back.
These are the steps as adaped by CR, Rev Rick Warren's Celebrate Recovey. There is a big world out there keep your eyes open and your mind open, you'll learn so much. Keep Comming Back
sorry andy, but our friend jchp is correct. god is the higher power. not a rock,, not a tree, not "nature' nature is wind and rain. no one prays to wind and rain anymore. they pray to they creator of wind and rain, god. it is the judeochirstianislamic god. aa is about a god, as your higher power . you can turn your will over to your god, you cannot turn your will over to "the group" you cant pray to the group, you turn your will over to god and pray to him for your salvation
There is a Creator of the Universe oe COTU and it does not matter who or what you pray to. eventually it will all come together if you just keep on keeping on, maybe Jesus and Bhudda and The jewish and the Muslims and all other religions had helpers here tyo help COTU or the creator of the Universe. maybe they are all here to try and help, who are we to judge anything or anyone, even our own species is arragont and dimishes the other species here on earth, we have a lot to learn. Thanks
@bbadydnar While it may not mater you YOU who YOU pray to, it matters to ME and it matters to THE Creator. THose you mentioned also have a creator athat in a ONe AND ONLY. Please feel free to speak for yourself but you at least 66 books away from speaking for me,
The 12 steps give us ALL that choice!!! I've been in A.A. for years and it's never brought up about WHO or WHAT our Higher Power is!!! I found out through A.A. that my 'drinking problem' was actually a result of 'SELF' problems.I was the problem..There are many if not most members who's higher power is Jesus. We had to have a Spiritual Awakening and then a PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP with him to make any progress.I don't care what a AA mwmbers higher power is. We are all in the family of recovery...
great prayer but truth is there's no such thing as alcoholism/addiction. so-called alcoholic drinking/using is just one expression of a compulsive personality. the key to lasting and satisfying recovery, therefore, isn't simply to stop drinking and using but, rather, to move beyond the entire compulsive lifestye. takes more work than your typical recovery program but well worth it in the end. anything short of this will leave you struggling with depression and anxiety, as well as relapse.
i dont think you have to be a christian to be helped by AA because the serentiy prayer has helped me through loads of issues and I'm about as atheist as they come..
You are so right. In fact you only have to change one thing for the 12 steps to work. Once you find out that one thing life starts to get better. The Serenty prayer tell us exactly wha that onething is.
a great video, which touches on some of the core elements required for quiting. But i should stress that the vital thing to understand when seeking divine help in giving up is that God is one, has no equal nor partner, and doesnt share in his divinity with his messengers. peace be on you.
Although I don't share this sentiment in this way nor the Belief in this way I found this an excellent video. Thank you - I found it very interesting.
"over religion?" In any case, not many religions talk about a personal God that will attempt to intimately take care of you if you'll let him. You won't find that in Pantheism or Islam or animism. Really, only in the judaic-christian world view.
Yes, the 12 steps can be applied in any situation. Yes, it is a text book to learn by and become strong in anything that has power over you. Did you also know that Bill and Bob who founded AA and wrote the book as well as the 12 steps were God fearing men? I didn't think so. This IS a spiritual program. That is what Step 11 is all about. Actually ALL 12 steps. If you'd read only the foreword thru Bill's Story, you might understand more about this being a book that COMPLIMENTS the Bible.
Nor is it a cult. I double Amen your and goodnews69's comments. It is a God bearing sect to be truthful. It is us that help them who seek that introduce them to Christ.
This is truly beautiful, my husband went to rehab today, I pray it works..

"If you find self-reform too hard
In spite of your intense desire
For lack of firmness to discard
The habits that stink of the mire,
There is no reason to despair,
Try what you can time and again,
Beseech your Maker to repair
The faults and you in strength will gain."

The original AA came from the Oxford Group.
It was a christian organization.
I am happy to see this video, even if one is no a believer the bibles teachings are a moral and a psychologically healthy way of life.
