@thatstheguy07 Some say the enzymes of some fruits and veges counteract the other's. Apples are said to be okay thus you see a lot of green juice recipes that include them. That's what I tend to do and you can also use carrots and beets to sweeten green juices. Do whatever you like though, the only real reason why I don't juice fruits often is because of the amount of fast sugars they have.
@FCM415 Cool, thanks for the reply. I already do just use either an apple or a pear in my green smoothies. I just have heard a cpl times this about fruits & veggies and always wondered why that was. Makes sense tho.
I also throw a handful of frozen berries in with my smoothies and/or juice.... Do you think this would fall under that category? (enzymes counteracting..)
@thatstheguy07 Meh, I'm not sure... Don't over-think it though, you're doing great regardless. I love frozen berries as they are alot cheaper than "fresh" and goes great with oatmeal for breakfast.
@nomadicexplorers Lemon is a good liver cleanser. Try sipping a cup of hot water containing the juice of 1 lemon every morning. It won't do much for you though if you drink a lot (alcohol), use drugs (street or pharmaceutical), or eat a diet high in fats. You can see the health of your liver by looking at the vertical line(s) between your eyes- deep lines means trouble for your liver- or by looking at the sides of your tongue- hold it out and relax it. There should be no lines or bumps.
@melindamarie870 What do you mean 'the verticle lines between your eyes? Wrinkles? above nose bridge? Also, no lines or bumps on SIDES of your tongue, is that right?
Oh, do tell us more. I like these natural diagnostics.
Thank you for this video, Drew. What is the regimen for this Liver cleanse? There are several recipes for a liver beet cleanse but I never hear about how often to do this.
The juice extractor that he is using is a piece of crap. It's fine for beginners, but if you want quality don't buy a Jack LaLane juice extractor. Names to look for in terms of quality juice extractors that are built to last? --> Hurom, Omega, Champion, Norwalk. I have an Omega 1000 juice extractor and yes it cost $200. if I had bought Jack LaLanes juicer I would have gone through 3 of his juicers by now compared to the Omega that's lasted me 15 years so far.
@melindamarie870 I had a champoin for years ,its better than the centrifugals for sure but its out dated now ,any masticating single or twin gear juicer is better .
@SpazChat your opinion, fine. i have a Jack juicer, its awesome, juices everything i put in it, and its tough. easy to clean. you dont need anything else.
@SixStringDeity , All, I can tell you is that the JLL juice extractor I have used was not good, and no, it was not tough. Perhaps it was a cheaper model. Yours looks like a fancy stainless steel model, the one I was using was all white and plastic. How do you know yours is good, you've never used a good one to compare quality?
@SpazChat you said it was a piece of crap. its not. is it the best? idont know what that means, it works, well, it juices everything, and, it doesnt break. never hd a single issue. just correcting your"piece of crap" comment so peole dont think they need to spend more than $100. you dont. if you want to, be my guest.
This is why I love YouTube. Info. or entertainment on almost any subject regardless of age,at your fingertips. Great video. Just wanted to mention there are many other fruits besides apple you can add to a recipe if it is too sour for you. Pear is 1 of them, blackberries are another, watermelon, etc. Lemon is a great salt substitute, and adds great tang to juice recipes. Ginger does the same, quite spicy though. Banana -great natural sweetener and thickener. All excellent for your health :)
@eph5121 If juice is too bitter, you can always add apple to it as he explained. Usually with juicing and juice fasts you can take anything that dissolves in water. Stevia could be used.
love this! I'm so jealous, I bought a juicer and it broke so I exchanged it for a new one and that one broke on first use so now I'm saving for a really good one but I'm dyyyinnng for a juice! Got any recommendations on a good juicer?
@edwards21416 Store bought juice is pasteurized and loaded up with sugar. It's essentially dead juice. It is a world of difference between homemade juice and store bought. You can get a juicer like the one he is using in the video for 100 bucks at target. They are worth every penny.
I was taught you can mix as many fruits and veggies together as you want..... there is no reason why you couldn't all fruits and veggies are good and benefit you in different ways. I make a morning juice every day with my JL juicer (wish i got a greenstar or brevile) I use Kale, Cilantro, Parsley, Orange, Lemon, Lime, Cucumber, Celery, Apples, Ginger Root, and to top it off for 3 Habaneros! Its a tweaked version of LOU CORONAS lemon ginger blast. It is spicy and really wakes me up and energizes
@livegreenjuicemore It's always best for assimilation to make the juice 5 ingredients or less. Also mixing more than 5 ingredients makes everything taste like soup. Which isn't bad but I prefer that my flavors stand out.
@TheEyedyed There is a such thing as too much anything. There are some vitamins like a,d,e,and k which can be toxic in overload. I have never seen or heard of anyone having adverse reactions to too much beet juice. However I have heard of people having their skin oranged by taking in too much carrot juice. heh. in new jersey that would be considered a bonus.
@emmas816 The only stuff that mixes well with vegetables is Apples or Pears, is because of the oils contained in these fruits, other fruits will make the vegetable juices will taste awful.
@mauricetheone I always find that lemon is the great equalizer. It seems to blend flavors together that are opposed to each other. but usually pear and apple are the ones. I made a juice this morning (carrot, orange, orange bell pepper). Tasted fantastic and mixed well. I like to balance colors because all colors heal different things.
Thanks for the recipe. I am just starting the practice of juicing and appreciate the help. Have you ever done a juice feat? What is a good juice to drink everyday all day for the feast? Thanks.
totally correct about buying a good juicer. Omega is awesome. I have used my Omega juicer for over 15 years!....Still running.....great juicer.
