BTW, a little analogy, just because someone has driven a car for 50 years doesn't mean they still should when they hit their 80s. People get old, lose certain skills, memory, etc. and still want to drive. Should they? No way. Bobby doesn't have what he used to IMO and it's not his fault. He's much older but there's a time when you have to tell old people they just can't drive anymore.
Penn St. would never do Paterno "DIRTY LIKE THAT" of the so called classy FSU program.....will be a dark loom for many years to come hanging over your program....and "JOE FISHER SUCKS" just wait and see..
Joe Paterno and Penn State had a similar skid with worse records than 6-6. Paterno is now just an icon non-play caller similiar to Bowden's former role. I really enjoyed the years these 2 were swapping the record or maybe it was second place before Paterno broke it. I will say one thing. If Bobby Bowden was the coach of Penn State he would not be leaving under these circumstances. Never forget who got you there FSU fans. Where is the FSU football alumini when you need them? Where's Deon?
Big salute to coach Bowden from Gator Nation. Rivalries aside, BB is an absolute legend in this game. Thanks for all you've done for college football coach. Happy retirement!
Great Hall of Fame Caliber Head Coach perhaps one of the Top 5 HC in College Football History. But it was time for Coach Bowden to step dow. When Tallahassee becomes the 4th best College Football Program in Florida when they should always be 1-2, then thats a pretty good clue its time for a new direction which is what New HC Jimbo Fisher represents in Tallahassee.
I'm not a FSU fan, but I'm a huge college football fan and a fan of Bobby Bowden, one of the greatest coach ever. FSU did him wrong! He should be able to leave in his own way and not force out like that. FSU footbal was shit before he came. Damm shame to see such a legendary coach go in such a embarassing fashion. God bless! Bobby B!!!
It's embarrasing because of how Bobby decided to leave the program. On a losing note. The program has just gotten worse and worse over this past decade so for people to say he should stay as long as he wants, and keep losing, is ridiculous. There comes a time when change must be made. And Bobby is getting old and obviously has lost what he once had. FSU doesn't win the games it used to. It's time for a change with FSU and I'm all for sooner than later.
I'm a Cane fan....and have absolutly no respect for a nole fan with a response like that.......Guess you forgot your program was nothing until that man stepped foot on that campus..your winning history,NC's,respect in the rankings is all owed to Bowden...your a pathetic bandwagon fan who is undeserving of even claiming yourself as a nole fan..FSU should have given one more year and let the man leave on his own terms....Look at Penn ST...Joe didn't do much until recently....BIG MISTAKE NOLE FANS.
Much easier to say when it's not your team you're talking about. What Bobby did building the program was brilliant. But the past decade has not been. With Jeff Bowden, the academic scandal, and our team worse than it has been in decades, it's time for change. And FSU fans have been sick of waiting for it. Since it hasn't happened, I think FSU did the best thing to move forward.

The best thing that ever happened to our conference. As soon as he joined, the ACC was taken to a higher level. Thanks for "THE RIDE"!!
Happy retirement from your ACC family
