  • dumb ass - i dont like this man at all

  • Lastly, this guy complains about the car not selling well (while talking to the M-B product planner), then half a minute later says the car has been a success in Canada.

Also, the B is not sold in the States, because most buyers think small cars should be cheap and basic transportation there, especially hatchbacks, whereas here in Canada we like European style/type cars that can be smaller and have all the quality and features of a larger car.

  • Continued...

Someone turned left in front of me the other day while doing around 80km/h (the speed limit in that area). They chose the worst possible time to turn in front of me. It was late at night, who knows if alcohol was a factor.

I slammed the brakes (Brake assist notices panic braking and will apply brakes to the limit just before lock-up), steered away from the car in front (yes, they panicked and stopped in the middle of the intersection), and the car stayed will in control.

  • Continued...

Comparing the B to a Matrix is like comparing a Mini to a Yaris. Come on. Are you a real automotive journalist, or is this a side job? The B has ABS, Brake Assist, steer assist, Traction control, Stability system that will brake individual wheels to help regain control, seat and pillar air bags in addition to the usual two in front and more.

BTW, the facelifted B is basically identical inside too, which you erroneously implied at the beginning.

  • I knew the person reviewing the car was a clown as soon as he complained about the location of the wiper stalk. The hat and body language just confirmed it even more.

If you have to see it to use it you've got problems. Most driving control tasks should not require you to look away from the road and mirrors. Nevermind the fact that M-B has had the wipers and speed controls in the exact place for at least 25 years.

  • In Europe, most B Class are sold in Diesel ! I have a B Class 200 CDI with CVT Automatic transmision. Nice little car for th city and around...

  • What an idiotical review, B class rocks.

  • @Dejanpezdirc lol, not as good as most other mercedes.

  • @tududecarfreako we have it for 5 years, it have 150.000km and not even one little mistake appears, it is worth of each penny.

  • @Dejanpezdirc well thats the power of mercedes for you :D but my dad bought an e class 3 years ago, and we also have not had to spend anything on it (other then scheduled maintenance), thats just how benz is. i have to agree though, this is a rather idiotic review.

  • @tududecarfreako don't worry, we own also S w221 420CDI, i'm just saying, that B class is very good and it's not much expensive than others 2nd class cars.

  • @Dejanpezdirc what year?

  • @Dejanpezdirc haha no its not

  • @lexusfan100 haha?

  • The position of the wind shield whiper is perfect, just there where it has to be. I never did see a person who had to look for the whiper control all the time. You just learn it in no time, it is really easy!

And to critism the hand gear shift isn't fair as well. By now, it is more efficient to shift by hand! Maybe in some years, it will vice versa.

Last point: For euro standards, the B 200 Turbo isn't fuel efficient!

  • don't be bamboozled the arms are easy to use while driving. and the wind shield wipers are automatically computer controlled.

has helped avoid few accidents with all the safety computers...

  • Obviously not an usual Mercedes driver...........

  • in england its only 16,000

  • We call our "Fido" because it's a dog. Most unreliable car in fifty years of motoring. And I have had some rubbish.

  • Thanks for the review, very relevant and helpful.

  • The B Class is coming to the US in 2011.

  • @nycprep73 ?? it isnt there yet? We've (Canada) have had it for years

  • Actually you do no not need the windshield wiper control that much, because it (also) operates fully automatic. I have driven the Mercedes B-Class and the BMW 1-series. The BMW 1-series is a much smaller car and you have far less room in the Beamer 1-series.

  • this merc is so stupid, when you compare it to the competition, a bmw 1 series, this merc fucking sucks. In the bmw you get correctly mounted turn signals and cruise control, AND RWD, not this FWD junk that is supposed to be luxury. You also get many other features that this stupid merc doesnt have, oh and you get a decent looking car

  • ya but these get amazing fuel economy. AND bmw's break down more than anything else on the road

  • Can a bmw 1 carry drum kit in the back? you are missing the point here. Merc B is some thing offers a interior space of cars that are one class up yet keeping the package small enough.

  • the indicator and the cruise control are always like that on mercs... and i have no probs with it at all... you get used to it and its not an issue. If you cant use it... you're a moron... sorry

  • Almost $30000 O_O

    Too expensive imo

  • very level headed review.

    I really enjoyed
