  • Every time the first 14 seconds of this piece played in Deep Impact I was so annoyed because i've heard it so many times before...after finding out that it was written by James Horner I realised it was played in Titanic as well...a film i've seen a thousand times! And my that scene was beautiful :)

  • Everybody knows Deep Impact was far superior to Armageddon.

But hey, what can you do about american thought patterns? Armageddon had badass yippie-kaye-Bruce Willis, oil-support, spacecowboys, american patriotism, and a huge amount of hype.

  • This piece of music always gets to me when I hear it. I start getting really sentimental and I'm not even sure for what or why. It's amazing how music can do that. Nothing else seems to cut through the "stuff" and bring up emotion the way music does. It reminds me that I can still feel.

  • james horner should won oscar for this. i love theme on 1:20!

  • He used this exact piano theme in The Biccentenial Man...

  • @jazz4 It's very, very, VERY similar, I agree. This is a much stronger piece/soundtrack in my opinion though. :)

  • beautiful theme

  • Heavenly music.

  • This song makes me want to fall in love... and i'm a guy.

  • One of my biggest wishes right now is to go to like, Montana or something, mountainous regions and such, sit outside somewhere, and look up at the stars while playing this. What comes to mind is me sitting on the moon in a space suit, sending a radio broadcast to the rest of the earth and my loved ones, telling them that I will be gone for a while, and that they shouldn't sit around and wait for me everyday, but that I will return, and that I promise.

Imagination, such a wonderful thing :)

  • é uma maravilhosa sinfônia! E este filme [e inesquecivel!

  • This movie is MUCH more "real" and emotional than Lameageddon.

Don't get me wrong I like Armageddon, has some cool stuff going for it, like of course the legendary soundtrack, but I think the campy unrealistic approach they took for that movie was lame.

  • Dammit, Horner. You're a very talented and creative guy, but you take on too many assignments and rip yourself off and then lamely tell the press you "don't remember" your past scores. How much more money do you need? You always moan about wanting to score small, independent movies, but how many do you really do? You're cheating your fans by ripping yourself off repeatedly....you're better than this!

  • i loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove

    deep impact.

  • I thought of Jurassic park too when i heard this! I guess the majestic and bitter-sweet tone makes them like that , mixed with those amazing melodies. Its a pity this one isn't as well known.

  • a friend of mine rearranged this song for a specific ensemble and we played it backstage while he went out to the audience, got his girlfriend, took up her to the stage, and proposed to her right after a production was completed. just about the sweetest thing I've ever seen

  • SERIOUSLY underrated movie. The movie and sound track penetrate the heart and soul and provoke thought and emotion. Can't believe that Holywood hype shit Armageddon was more popular. Shows that most people are emotionally dead inside guess that's partly why the world is so fucked up :'(

  • @galaxything i couldnt have said it better myself. amen

  • @galaxything Fuck off, Armageddon was epic.

  • @LukeNAESA10 lol no :p

  • Close your eyes, and leave the world you knew behind. Just dream.

  • yo vi esta peli en el cine, y me gusto, la banda sonora me encanta, por cierto es casi igual a la de la pelicula del hombre bicentenario . I saw this movie in the cinema and I liked the soundtrack, a lot like , if you gave you mind, this soundtrack is very similar to the movie Bicentennial Man. :)

  • This is worthy of being played in an honor band!

  • This movie makes me cry.

  • 1:12-2:08 horner should won Oscar for this soundtrack!

  • 1:20 - 2:00 a perfect part !

  • Um seriously??? Guys, listen to the song from Bicentennial man called Wearing Clothes for the First Time, you can find it right here on Youtube, particularly at 1:49. Does he enjoy ripping off himself?

It is also hidden in Titanic when jack first sees Rose, but he didn't put it on the soundtrack. I love James Horner, don't get me wrong. But, can't he write new music each time he makes a movie?

  • @xchochotax

haha @ "enjoy ripping himself off" XD

you are very right, i've been having endless discussions with ppl who've bruoght that up. If we're lookin at it from this way, there's no breaking the copyright's if you own it, is there? so yeah i agree, he does have very similar tunes in his composition, but i think perhaps it's his signature, everyone has someting which makes them stand out in some way, maybe this is what makes people think "aaahhh.... this is none other than James horner ";)

  • when 2012 comes im gonna listern to this lol jk i am now :)

  • For 3 people this has a shallow impact

  • this song makes me cry!

  • @BlekoBadBoy Yeah, same here. And at the scene when the Astronauts are saying goodbye to their loved ones, and the mother was telling her kid she loved him. Thats when tears formed. And then when the it was the blind guys turn, his family was not their at first, and I just broke out crying. So deep and touching.

  • This has always been one of my favourite soundtracks by James Horner! It's a gem... and the second I bought after 'Titanic' infected me with his music when I was young!!!!

  • This movie is filled with such greatness and such a wide range of emotions it cannot be articulated. Just love it.

  • @redhairking

I wasn't reffering to you, I was talking to someone else

  • Three people have listened to this and failed to hear the heart behind it.

  • awesome music by Horner. He has done amazing themes. Titanic, Deep Impact, Legends of the falls, Braveheart, Casper

yes the music sound the same with the choir and all but every composer has familiar music, Thats how we know its them

But the themes are different everytime and so is Horners. That is what people are forgetting here. he is a brilliant composer

  • exelente video..exelente musik mas bien diria yo muy buena banda sonor.

  • This is my favorite movie of all time. So much emotion, such a human story, and great acting all packaged into one. It makes me cry every time!

  • This is my favorite movie of all time. So much emotion, such a human story, and great acting all packaged into one. It makes me cry every time!

  • @dearanna

Take it easy there, I wouldn't say great acting, that Sarah chick, forgot her real name, pretty much almost ruins the whole movie for me with her horrible acting. Her acting was literally very distracting. I wish they had casted someone else.

  • a composer is a writers greatest attribute.

  • Beautiful!

One of my favourite films of all time!

The single piano at the beginning and the end of this really makes me cry. It's Leo and Sarah's theme <3 x

  • Morgan Freeman played the part of President better than anyone ever has in film ... or TV. If he had run for office, he would've been elected

  • @MrSpice5 i thought danny glover's preform ace was quite good in 2012, but Morgan Freemans was fantastic

  • I love James Horner; I have since ST: The Wrath of Khan.

  • Pretty.

  • Check out my renditions of movie scores on keyboard!

  • this movie's soundtrack vaguely reminded me of the one for the first Jurassic park movie. They both sound similar in that they speak of. . . well, I mean, you know. Music is a language that words cannot express. But the soundtracks of both have the same unspoken beauty to me.

  • @Quincy0047 "Music is a language that words cannot express." Wisely said...

..thanks to ALL of you people commenting, it's awesome to see this "hidden" little treasure from James Horner being appreciated as much as it has. It is wonderful, and I love it too!

  • @linvik1 i have this movie i think i seen it in the theatre looked scary and gave me chills wen i seen that comet made a huge great wave

  • @Quincy0047 ya i know wut u mean... the "good" parts are kinda light and cheery...

  • seen this have this looks scary gives like goosebumps seeing a very giant wave like that some reason this movie good like 2012 and day after tomorrow

  • I just watched this movie for the fifth time and I cried again. It is so sad, so beautiful.

  • make me feel alive again

  • Remembering beautiful memories of 1998..........

  • wen i saw this movie in the theatre first time, i cried.

  • nice dream the end of world nomore time give no more have time join it islam bevore to leaht

  • just watched this and almost teared up made me think of what i would do in an event such as this... more emotions that some movies like this

  • piece*

  • I hate Nazis. I love this song.

  • @MagnusRulerHardt

What does this song have to do with Nazis?

  • @Spino162

Nothing, I just hate Nazis and love this song.

  • @MagnusRulerHardt So why bring up Nazis and just love this song like the rest of us do.

  • @Tom6093

Are you saying I don't love the song?

  • @MagnusRulerHardt -Lol No !!! we are just wondering how you putting Nazis and this song together.

  • @Tom6093

Maybe it reminded me of Hitler killing himself <3

  • sit outside in a really dark place and look at the stars while listening to this ,thank me later

  • @crazybeautifulworld - I have a friend who owns a house in Eastern Virginia. We listen to this all the time on the beach !!!!! We even look for Biederman !!!!!

  • @crazybeautifulworld Thanks a lot. ;)

  • @crazybeautifulworld: i'll do it

  • @crazybeautifulworld

No thanks, the sunset fits better.

  • @crazybeautifulworld Now I really can't wait for summer to come.

  • @redhairking

What's wrong with looking at the stars?

  • @LasergunExtreme Nothing! I love looking at the stars at night. Especially when there's no light pollution.

  • i love this soundtrack sooooooo much...

  • *nods* this has got to be the sweetest bit of music EVER!

  • so do i.. ita amazing

  • this movie looks like so sad story...

  • actually, it's awsome! i cried at one point near the end, but it's a good cry. :D

  • one word... WONDERFULL

  • brilliant piece!!

  • "When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I looked like a child, I reasoned like a child.

Then I became a man and gave up the childish ways..."

  • love the music...can't say the same for the film though.;)

  • I have a whole bunch of music from this soundtrack on my i-pod and I listen to them often and each one has a different effect on ones heart and mind.

  • *sighs* OMG! this is so pretty! i feel like tearing up every time! :D heartwarming at its best!

  • Segajohan's video response is the piano piece at the beginning and end, but longer, its beautiful.

  • i love this song, it always inspire me to studying

  • BEST SONG FOREVER !!!!!!!

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!! ♥

The music of James Horner is great...

do you know "Legends of the Fall"?

    It is wonderful, too!

  • i love the first 22 seconds of this song

  • This is such a beautiful peice. To bad Frodo and that girl had to marry so soon. I wonder if they stayed together after they survived. Maybe they took the elf ships to the east along with Gandolph and Elrond.

I always listen to this music when I'm in Virginia Beach. I liked this movie because it had all the places I go to in the summer.

  • i love virginia beach so much. too bad it gets hit by the wave in the film.

  • a deep sound such as horns is very good. Titanic was also wonderful.

  • Comment removed

  • I'm not much for disaster films myself, but this was one of the few I could actually watch and enjoy, thanks in no small part to the ever awesome Horner.

  • reminds me of saving private ryan

  • I'm telling you...or anyone, life seems like it's dead, music, visulization, memories, close your eyes, smile, you have to let go sometimes.

    Smile

  • I watched this movie at least 3 times in cinema and countless at home! And i assured you this was one of the most touching disaster movie ever made!!!Tea Leoni and Maximilian part was so touching...

  • this feels love in the spirit.

  • I love this score !!!

  • Tout simplement magnifique....

  • Love this song so much, best disaster movie ive seen yet.

  • Although I love the film ( and James Horner's soundtrack is, as usual, brilliant ) I have never been convinced by the final scenes.

Elijah Wood + girlfriend and baby, escape the 1000-foot+ tidal wave on a motorbike, while everyone else stands by their cars in the biggest traffic jam of all time. I'd like to think that, in real life, people would be a bit more intelligent about the matter

i.e instead of waiting around on a highway to die, let's get to HIGHER GROUND and we'll have a chance.

  • they knew they were going to die anyway when the second comet hit.

  • "they knew they were going to die anyway when the second comet hit."

That's true... but even if all hope was lost, I'd still rather spend my last moments enjoying a pleasant view from a hill/mountain, than be stuck on a damn highway! lol

  • Morgan Freeman was absolutely amazing in this film...

  • #agrre one of my favorite actors

  • @cheif5001 I know right?! I cried so much at the end when he made his speech!

  • Deep Impact was 1 of the movies that was full of surprises :) I expected a really shallow, special-effects oriented movie but was pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be a poingnant & touching film which tried its best to hold onto a thread of realism- & the icing on the cake was yet another sublime score by James Horner :) all we can do now is perhaps take heed from the movie's lessons & try & tackle our future problems in an agreeable way & not to take those dear to us for granted...

  • well said my friend

  • i saw that movie and make me cry this soundtrack is so nice...

  • love the movie as much as i love the soundtrack...best ever disaster movie just hope that this never happens allthough there are chances that our planet might be hit by an asterioid like that...god bless us all

  • this would be another reason to have a good space program. Not just for bouncing around, but to better understand what lurks in the universe. If we would learn an asteroid was going to hit in a year, are you confident our governments would be prepared? I like movies that make you think.

  • This has to be one of my favorite soundtracks of all time. The movie was great, in fact, more believable and real than Armageddon. Better soundtrack as well. There are a whole lot of great tracks on the album but my favorite is the pretty, lush and choir filled Goodbye and Godspeed.

  • i agree !!! this music was created by a genius and the movie was great especially the part where she reunites with his father on the beach....

  • Omg that seen at the end... It has lways made me cry. When the astronauts say goodbye to their family.

I love this movie so much. It's one of the best soundtrack I've ever heard, seriously.

    <33333

    --see ya :D

  • Me to I can't wait ... We'll watch it this weekend! :D

I'm sure that I'll love this movie ^_____^

  • You do? Well we actually we can't dislike this movie. It's juz... too good. :P :D

  • I've seen lots of movies and I never ever cry. Except when it comes to deep impact. This movie throws you into the shoes of these actors and you think of your close ones. Strange I never cry but this movie makes me burst out crying everytime!... (I'm too ashamed to watch it with anyone - doesn't fit the macho image! lol) But that's my favourite movie of all time - the best combination of (excellent)special effects, soundtrack and drama I've ever seen.

  • Hey me too! Wow!^^

I've seen soooo many movies, and others from this kind... But I think that only two of three movies really made me cry. In my whole life! And Deep Impact... I'll always consider this movie as a very special one. Why? Heh, I think you mentioned the reasons I had in mind!^^ And yes, I cry Every time I watch it. It's a beautiful movie, one of the bests ever made in my opinion. <3

I think it's my favorite too.

  • i so love this music!!!

  • Deep Impact is much better than Armageddon. Armageddon rules too, btw. Deep Impact is my favorite movie of all times. Especially I like the music. 5 stars.

  • Morgan freeman's performense is outstanding in this movie and you know what i think he would make a good president lol

  • i love this film

  • This is my favorite disaster movie, it have almost no disaster really1 Except the girl die, and the music goes away sometimes disaster!! I' always love this music

  • girl die? wich girl?

  • i cannot tell yoyu if you not see the movie , now can i?

  • is it tea leoni? I've seen it

  • should i tell you even ifd people here haven't seenthemovie?

  • Yes

  • but fon't do it then!!

  • @MichelleSeven Jenny, the reporter. She died standing on the beach with her father. One of the most touching scenes in the whole movie :'(

  • @PeaceForMiddleEarth Yes I know ='I

  • @BASilAndSAPhronyummy Do you mean Jenny? Because Sarah doesn't die... x

  • this is so sad when you here this music and see the dad and his daughter finally having a moment in the end of there lives. great movie

  • You can hear the similarities in this music and that of titanic. I think its really neat.

  • Yeah, I was watching Titanic, and then I said "That's the theme of Deep Impact!"

  • ugh I cant find this song anywhere. I want to put it on my ipod

  • Thank you so much I love this soundtrack, so emotial :)

  • Thank you linvik1 for posting!

  • Agreed! Awesome movie that was totally underrated. Beautiful story line of life, family and the importance of the bonds of love. One of my favorite movies with a AWESOME soundtrack. James Horner is awesome!

  • This is my favorite movie of all time. Deep Impact never got the credit it deserved. Armageddon came out around the same time and that movie was crammed with so many well known actors that it towered over the superior movie. This movie had very good actors in it as well, but it wasn't as fake/action packed as Armageddon. This movie focused on what would really happen if the world knew it was going to be destroyed. How society would react knowing the date of doomsday. Deep Impact is incredible.

  • Totally with you on that one, very much underated, ive watched this about ten times, gave up with Armageddon. You look after her now, im going to kill myself:: lol just stupied.....

  • Plus, it managed to balance both aspects of the 'end of the world'; both the mission to stop it, and the events concerning regular people on the ground beyond NASA.

Underrated, and a better movie than Armageddon.

Though I always get a kick out of watching Armageddon.

  • awesome, gets me nostalgic

  • I like this track

  • I really love this track from Deep Impact. This one is titled "THE WEDDING"

    Thanks for uploading.

  • Oh, thanks! I've added that now.

    You're welcome. :-)

  • ^Yeah, it's a really awesome soundtrack!

To the last one who posted that (very) nice comment, I managed to delete it.. I was near that god damn 'Remove'-button... That was not my intention, sorry :( But, you are very welcome, I'm happy to hear that! His music is indeed unbelievable, it gives you the will to carry on and see the positive things in life. I adore this soundtrack. :D

  • My favourite composer! James Horner! Awesome!

  • awesome

  • lovely
