  • New rule: All the republican think tanks that agreed there were weapons of mass destruction, and thought Iraq would throw roses in our path if we invaded, and that things would get better after the Iraqi election, and that the war would last weeks not months should lose their right to be a think tank, and should keep their opinions to themselves.

  • I'm going to invent the get the fuck away from me room, based on the panic room. When come across really stupid people, and they won't get out of your face, you can hide in your own "get the fuck away from me room". In there you can read, watch your favorite tv program, or just punch the padded walls, and pretend its Mitt Romney, or Obama, and so on. When you come out, you will be relaxed, and calm.

  • When is all this bullshit going to end? All this talk about corruption, nitwitted citizens, politicians, Illegal aliens, deficit, economy and budgets mean absolutely nothing anymore. People are constantly getting fucked by the higher 1% and still wake up every day obvious. Why aren't people mad? Why aren't politicians being fired? Why aren't special interest groups Fined? Why aren't CEO's and board members, wall St execs in jail for ruining this economy? We can learn a thing or two about Egypt

  • @Audimaro "Why aren't politicians being fired?" The ones who do the firing are the top 1% or are getting bribed by the top 1% "Why aren't special interest groups Fined?" The ones who do the fining are being controlled by the top 1% "Why aren't CEO's and board members, wall St execs in jail for ruining this economy?" They by million $ lawyers and bribe people. "We can learn a thing or two about Egypt" Sadly true. Solution: Move to another country. Maybe Canada or Australia.
  • @Audimaro Because we all fucking suck. Simple as that.

  • What the fuck? I am lolling but I am thinking... this is so fucking comedy... I been watching all these its funny but its serius right? i am not american but if you are a prick you are a prick. i want to see obama on this show telling me he is bill mahars second cousin four times removed....

  • @RTGROY Its serious alright.

  • @toverkleet Think I was coming home a bit drunk... fairly strong language sorry...

  • I really want to know what "Churchill won" ... a sigar maybe?

  • Bill has a BA in history and English and he calls these people lunatics >.1,519 verified architectural and engineering professionals and 12,373 other supporters

    a truly independent investigation.

..You're nothing but a media whore pimping zombies

  • @salkkarisekoilija .a lot fo people dislike israel, not all musl,im surprsingly enough you bigot.

  • Good how you go back and see how they said about his selection of a vice president.

  • Bill Maher is a zionist shill.

    See...

    iamthewitness.c o m

  • CUNT! - Come on Bill you dont have to sink to this to make the ratings.

  • I agree with Bill Maher, I hate poltical correctness.

  • the contagious use of the "F" word by the hacks here, shows it is really never a good idea to use it in hi-profile settings, even though when Maher usually uses it in a more judicious way, IT IS FUNNY as heck!

  • and a couple years later...

  • no adds... kicks the hell out of CBS.

  • @supermario103 that's unconstitutional that he is denied citizenship based on his health

  • "There's no shortage of people who hate us(america)"

    Ever wonder why?

  • Who is this bald heated moron talking in football metaphors?

  • @ph03n1xamb1t that "moron" is first and foremost a verteran you fucktard! His name is Paul Rieckhoff and he is the founder and director of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America. The man devotes his work, time, and life to making sure that men returning home are taken care of. I'm not a fan of the military. I'm not sure how much I can identify with someone who signs up. Hell, I'm not even sure if I can justify signing up. But this is a good man who is trying to help. So fuck you!

  • I really wish HBO would just let us watch full episodes online so I didn't have to search through youtube just to watch video clips of episodes. So god damn annoying. I love Bill but why is it so hard for a college student with no tv and just a laptop to go online and watch his show.

  • McCain is no Churchill

  • one of the biggest things i cant stand is someone talking over me.

  • He actually knows what he's talking about which is a rarity; therefore, I don't want him to shut up. @genetatortoise You have the same media as America in your country?

  • The bald guy in the suit doesn't shut the fuk up

  • bald guy doesn't shut the fuck up.

  • Yeah, there's loads of great physics coverage.

  • wow

  • @supermario103 I cannot believe that. Denied citizenship because of HIV+ status, that's awful.

  • why the hell are the media involved in the war in the first place??? am i missing something here?? what is the point of some jackoff with a camera telling us that a SOLDIER DIED IN THE WAR? shit its war, death happens, and if the soldier didnt die in the war he would probably die at home from a gun shot wound from Cheney, media should stay the hell out of there, and if one of them gets kidnapped and a crazy muslim holds a gun to his head, hes on his own, it was his choice, he knew whats goin on

  • I like the Hillary joke.....and the audience does suck. they have an applause light that goes on when bill hits the pedal.

  • didn`t see palin coming did you beard boy

  • Here's a question the Iraq War defenders always ask. "What's wrong with us trying to spread Democracy in Iraq?" 1. We're not over there to "spread Democracy" whatsoever. 2. WE HAVE NO RIGHT BEING THERE AT ALL. And I don't mean the expression "you have no right..." I mean WE HAVE NO RIGHT, as in this Iraq War is an illegal war. Our invasion and occupation are war crimes.

  • this video is old.

iraq is pretty much done. i mean, it won't be long until we are no longer in it.

its back to Afghanistan- everywhere north of kandahar.

    the north east mountains.

opsec would not allow me release any more details, but yeah.same as the ones on the news, lol.

i operate in the MQ-1B system to provide cas for our troops.

    so i knows yo.

  • Bill Maher is an idiot. We ARE fighting A-Qaida, idiot.

  • @illusionistdave - I agree; we (that is the US and my country Australia - amongst others) are fighting a war against terror (and losing an unwinable war).

So why'd we invade Iraq? And why Iran next?

  • @freakystyley4000 Agreed. The "War against Terror" is like the "war against drugs". There is no single party involved. There are thousands of various sized organizations with varying philosophies involved in each "war". That they call it "war" is indicative of why the approach is so ineffective. A war involves very few parties and is quite black and white. This is what American politicians and the public they sell these ideas to are comfortable with. But it's impossible to win such a "war"

  • @illusionistdave

    Your kidding.

  • I'm not a fan of the guests on this one. They keep talking over each other and stuff.

  • Only in the US can McCain's war story be seen as a plus during an election.

The story IS amazing and what he did was great.. But how exactly does it relate to running a country? I don't see why it matters at all. There are a lot of people in the world who saved kids from burning houses or whatever and they are heroes for doing that. But that certainly doesn't mean I want them running MY country. :o

  • we're all fucked

  • @supermario103 Anyone who lives in this country in excess of 20 years & suddenly decides he wants citizenship doesn't deserve it! The man is also a proven racist bigot & America has enough of those. Who the hell wants to invite others in from foreign countries to spread their continued poison?!! So what he has HIV! How many others has he spread it too?

  • There is no solution to this that I can see. Sad.

  • 7:22

  • @supermario103 Andrew Sullivan is a disgusting little man who slanders others without evidence.

How anyone can like the odious little twat is beyond me. Never liked the guy since he attacked Chomsky and slandered him as a USSR supporter.

The man has no class. He's a horrible right-wing lunatic who lacks manners.

Having HIV would explain his nasty streak though.

  • @z0mgrugbyreturns Im not a fan of Chomsky, but you are 100% right that Sulivan doesn't even have the curtesy of making up half truths. He is a bald faced liar.

  • It's time that Andrew Sullivan appears on Real Time. We miss him!

  • Jonh McCain did not have a realistic chance to be released as a POW. It was a propaganda ploy. If he would have accepted offer it would have been huge victory for N Vietnamese propaganda. It would have disgraced his Admiral father and grandfather. John Kerry served honorably, period. Is it his fault he wasn't a POW?

  • the woman saying it's not as bas as it was about the word "pimp". Oh really genius? not as bad? Are pimp not still the people on the streets the abuse and assault women? Are pimps still not exploiting and treating women like chattle and commodities? I don't think typical pimp conduct towards their "product" has changed at all, so why would the term by less offensive? I think it's because the oversexploitation of women has simply turned our society into a pimp world in as sense.

  • @unfortunatebeam Shut the hell up, if you knew what the panelist were referring too, you wouldn't sound like such a prick. It has more to do with the association of money and power (sound familiar in relation to American culture?) with pimps, then their actions towards women. Both are bad, but don't have such an overreaction.

  • At HAndiman544: Nice lol

  • The Janet Jackson fine was around $400K, not a million.

  • "you have to admit, theres no shortage of people who hate us" why do you think peple hate you when you invade their country, blow up their homes, and kill their family

  • @genetatortoise whoops do the same thing that you condemn america for, my bad. typed to fast lol

  • @genetatortoise but lets not forget that the us of a have lots of friends stil.

its so depends on who is president

i am sure obama is going to make new friends and undo all the bad publicitie that bush did.and remember we in europe love americans not american governments.

  • @ThePeeterd That was a very nice thing to say. Thank you.

  • @genetatortoise but,you americans bring not only hardship,i mean to topple the taliban is a act of mercy to afghani,s,problem was the way your government lied to their citizen,s by saying saddam was al quada and have w.o,m.d. which he know he didn.d with other words invasion with the wrong mental reason,s

  • @genetatortoise Hmm, the ingenious argument that the cause of terrorism, if fighting against it.

  • @RebelWrestler45 "the ingenious argument that the cause of terrorism, if fighting against it."

With terrorism. Often hitting people who had nothing to do with the original act. Also like terrorism.

Weird but when you attack somebody and kill thier families, they rarely seek a rational discussion into the cause. They just want to hit back. & often they don't even care if they hit the guilty.

That's what happened to us after 9-11. Why would people in other countries be any different?

  • @booley What are you talking about? The initial attacks on 9/11 had nothing to do with US intervention, which up to that point had consisted of stopping the blatantly illegal annexation of Kuwait. You forget that the US went into Afghanistan first, for Al-Qaeda. There is a marked difference between collateral damage, and intentional targeting of non-combatants; trying to marginalize the two, to legitimate the latter is not just irrational, it is an insult to those who have been murdered.

  • @RebelWrestler45

    Clearly you missed my point.

When 9-11 occurred, what did the US do? We got so angry and scared that we bombed a country that had nothing to do with it, killing thousands of innocent people. Later we tortured and used chemical weapons on cities & all this other stuff we had previously condemned other people for doing.

All because we got hit on 9-11

So if we went crazy after being hit like that, why would people in other countries react differently?

  • @booley Afghanistan had nothing to do with Al-Qaeda and the Taliban? What are you talking about? You make the assumption that militant religious fundamentalists are somehow rational people, and their actions can be explained by a rational chain of events. The fact is that the greatest threat to religious fundamentalism is not military force, but liberal Enlightenment ideology; that is why the US is considered a threat, and that is why they attacked us on 9/11.

  • @RebelWrestler45 Ironically you illustrate why we keep doing this. Humans (and Americans in particular) have selective amnesia.

Yes us invading afghanistan came after 9-11. But before 9-11 the US was doing stuff like supporting brutal dictatorships in the middle east . That among other things was used justified attacking Americans. The us uses attacks on Americans to bomb Muslim countries. That bombing then justifies more attacks on Americans.

    Cont'd

  • @booley Supporting brutal dictatorships? We helped the Mujahadeen in their resistance against Russia, we deposed the most brutal dictator in the region, who we had previously kept from annexing another country. Once again, their is a marked difference between the intentional targeting of civilians, and collateral damage.

  • @booley Quit trying to justify these Muslim terrorists, they have an endless bag of excuses to commit such pointless attack.

  • @DawnOfTheDead991 I am no more justifying muslim terrorists then I'm justifying the US invasion of Iraq.

No one attacks pointlessly, killing themselves for no reason. That's stupid. They always think they have a reason. (whether it's a good reason or not is besides the point)

You're just playing into the same fallacy that others use to paint the US as the "great Satan"

  • @booley Well, I believe it was Ayatollah Khomeini who coined the term, "The Great Satan", he was Muslim?

  • @DawnOfTheDead991 Gee you mean it was the Ayatollah that coined a term that painted all Americans as somehow less then human and incomprehensibly evil?

That fact doesn't seem to refute what i said at all. You do realize that, right?

  • @DawnOfTheDead991 .lol!! wow you have just blown my mind. if hitler coined that term it wouldnt mean anything ,same goes for ayatollah you absolute fool.

  • @booley cont'd

Each side uses the atrocities (real or imagined) of the other to justify committing their own atrocities.

It's now ok to torture and bomb and kill scores of people. They would do the same to us, right? Guess what, there are American and Middle Eastern terrorists saying that exact same line. Each side thinks THEY are the victims who were unfairly attacked.

So YES, "Fighting Terrorism" as we are doing now does increase terrorism. It plays right into it.

  • @booley Don't even talk about waterboarding as torture unless you have been subjected to it yourself. Only 3 people have been waterboarded to date; trying to marginalize the brutal torture and decapitation of US soldiers to compare it to waterboarding is intellectually lazy, and is a direct insult to those prisoners who have been killed. The very idea that ceasing all military action in the middle east now, will decrease the terrorist threat is incredibly naive, and borders on ignorant.

  • @genetatortoise

    You mean Talibans?

The ones that sloughter civilians and threaten everyone who wouldn't abide by their cruel, hatefull and intolerant rules?

    fudge u

  • @genetatortoise So that is why Osama attacked us, when we actually helped Afghanistan get free from the Soviets or Kuwait get Iraq out? What garbage.

  • @genetatortoise

cuz they hates our freedom and stuff or sumthin

  • riggerrize: What an exclusively American comment. One that has absolutely nothing to do with anything.

  • Yes, England had Churchill, but we had Ronald Reagan, a man so old that he was sleeping through Cabinet meetings by the end of his administration. Of course we're going to be scrutinizing our older Prez candidates more carefully.

  • a man who was so old, that the only time he didn't have to pee, was when he was peeing.

  • Andrew Sullivan is brilliant. Bill Maher is hilarious. For anyone who cares google "Sam Harris Andrew Sullivan debate"

  • thanks

  • if mccain is going to exceed the average american life expectancy during his term in office, i think it is perfectly logical to question whether or not he is too old.

  • The guy to the left looks retarded

  • Well, he is British...

  • Wow. Paul Rieckhoff had it right. @ 7:21

  • Good job Mr. Maher, Thank you HBO

  • my brother Paul!!!!!! keep on brother, keep on

  • oil?

ever heard about the fact that there is a lot of oil there?

  • I would like someone to explain how we can go to Vietnam to stop the spread of communism, and then turn around and try to make Iraq look any different. Spreading ideologies with enforcement is the same for both wars, with the exception of the difference of beliefs being forced. We dont like one country under the power of a person who goes against our policies, so we sink to the same level and invade their country based on lies? Seems to me we are becoming what we hate.

  • very good, very good, bravo , didint know there were intelligent people in america

  • If the United States went to war against Iraq because of an ideology, then there are many other countries whose ideologies conflict with its much more (North Korea, Iran, Zimbabwe, China, Saudi Arabia etc.). Rather, the war in Iraq was part of the general war against terrorism, and of removing a mad dictator from a key strategic point, both in the region and in the world economy, and of stopping a man who was a danger to his neighbours and to the rest of the world.

  • i honestly cannot believe you said that, how ignorant and naive you must be, to believe everything you here on the news. im honestly baffled, absolutely baffled that there are people like you who still think this is a legitament war. (excuse my spelling, english isnt my first language)

  • becoming? I think you're several decades behind on that assumption.

  • Apparently you weren't aware of the whole barebacking fiasco he was involved with only a few years ago.

  • There are conflicts all over the world. The only reason why the US is involved with Iran, Iraq, Al Quaeda, Pakistan and all of the conflicts in that region of the world is because they have BILLIONS OF GALLONS OF OIL UNDER THEIR SOIL. The US needs to find another source for Oil instead "Making deals with the DEVIL" for cheaper prices on OIL!!!

  • Yeah that's what pisses me off about the whole "we got rid of a ruthless dictator, doesn't that mean anything?" bullshit. There are lots of ruthless dictators, but not all of them have oil underneath their countries.

  • Really? Well that's certainly news for me. Last time I checked, Afghanistan doesn't have any oil, and Pakistan barely has any either. So how come we are 'involved with them' if they don't have 'billions of gallons of oil'.

Could it be that your statement is just simplistic garbage? The US is not at war with Al Qaida because of oil.

  • Afghanistan is a number 1 spot for our military to position itself. I'm more concerned with all the poppys their and that their leader Karzi's brother is the leading drug trafficer

  • Afghanistan doesnt have oil,but the Caspian sea DOES!And the only way to get that oil to America without dealing with either Russia or Iran is to take it out thru Turkmenistan and then Afghanistan, and then down thru Pakistan. As of right now,2 of these countries are run by USA puppet leaders.Afghanistan has always been the problem! And this Caspian sea oil is a big deal! Its why Russia invaded Afghanistan in the 80's!They wanted to keep us from being able to get at that oil/ bypass them.

  • Are you referring to the old nonexistent pipeline conspiracy theory which has no basis in reality? After 8 years, no pipeline. If that was all they wanted, why not just pay off the Taliban?

  • Wow No one will let that woman speak!

  • Hitchens explained it already before to Maher that Al Quaeda WAS in Iraq, and an active force at that. Time and time again he said it, yet he keeps clinging to his own personal incredulity.

  • We still need to pull out, but it would be nice if we could use a little lube to ease the transition.

  • and now after terrorist attacked india we all know the r in pakistan... and they'r not fighting in pakistan government behalf

  • I don't think he knows what impartial means...obviously

  • I love Paul Rieckhoff!
