You can get the nightmare pickaxe by killing the eater of worlds. You can summon him two ways

1. Break 3 shadow orbs

2. Craft worm food with 30 vile powder and 15 rotten chunks

You can also buy purification powder from the dryad after killing the eye of Cthulhu which turns ebestone into normal stone, so if you do it this way it is vary easy.

So I have a question : If you need a nightmare pickaxe to get to the shadow orb, how do you get the Shadow Scale for building the nightmare pickaxe? Cause the Wiki says that you get Shadow Scale from the Eater of Worlds, and as far as i know, you need the Shadow Orb to wake the Eater of Worlds up. That confuses me, i hope you understand, if not, i can explain it ;D

@LeaveMeTheFkAlone You can spawn him using Worm Food which can be crafted with 15 Rotten Chunks and 30 Vile Powder. Another way is to kill Eye of Cthulu so the Dryad can come to you, then you can buy Purification Powder which removes the corruption from the Ebonstone Block and you can mine it (it becomes stone block). Then you need a Iron Hammer or above to destroy the orb.

@JakeAnaimations use bombs/dynamite to break through the corruption stone, or use the powder from the dryad to turn it into regular stone that can be mined, or kill eye of Cthulhu again until you get enough demonite ore to craft the pickaxe

@TheNaz01 There should be one at the end of each chasm in the corruption. So yes, if you just keep making new worlds, there are endless shadow orbs.
