  • October 22. Not November.

  • He played it on 22th november 1956. Next day the revolution broke out...

  • Agreed a miraculous recording. This is an unprecedented historical moment for an artistic performance under extreme circumstances. The top military force in the world held at bay by heros long enough for a stellar performance and subsequent escape. Bravo !

  • An amazing historical document of Cziffra playing this concerto on the eve of the Hungarian uprising. He never to played it again. It's a pity he never recorded the work commercially as he performs it with great style and virtuosity.

  • Thank you for the upload, by knowing the background of the performance, it is very meaningful and it is a miracle that the recording exists. The music surely may express the feelings of Cziffra, it was during that auspicious occasion, a frightening memory of the 1956 revolution and his second escape, that time successfully.

  • wow, i can't believe this was recorded.
