first of all for the people who have the first generation itouch ipods, it doesnt make sense to up grade it because your wasting $9.95... you wont be able to get certain features like the new itouch has, like motion censors etc, you will be able to download apps. cause the app store is 2.0. 2.1 application so all the 1.1.4 when away.... Lame.

oops lets clear that up. i ment the new ipod touches allow you to move your ipod like the wii does.. as if you were using it as a steering wheel when your playing a racing game . kinda like mario cart. the first generation itouch does not allow you have that option. so the upgrade to 2.0 would be pointless for the first gen.

TubeYou2848--Should be! Don't see why how it will be unsafe. And if the Apps you got in iTunes are still in there just add them on your iPhone should not cost nothing since ya already got them. And you will get the new features in 2.1 that 1.1.4 did not have. Like the new style calculator and other stuff. And when you get 2.1 you will get the App Store! Which was release in 2.0 but you will still have it in 2.1. And no problem! Hope you enjoy upgrading to 2.1! :)

TubeYou2848--Your settings should not change. I don't think mine did. And I jailbreak my iPod before on 2.1 and I had all my apps and stuff and the installer and the app store. But I return to default 2.1 non jailbroken thou.

Apps can cost anywhere from free to 20 bucks... to my knowledge however you can always jailbreak it... and most of those are free. Like sketches is like 7 bucks on the app store but free on the installer when you jailbreak it. It may void your warranty but you can just restore it if you experience problems.
