Not the first 3D 1st person. There were others. Dragon's Lair was a 3D 1st person that played first on the Coleco ADAM in 1985. You went around an old castle on several levels with a broadsword then in the same fashion, in the end you had to slay the dragon. Wolfenstein was originally shareware, which made it very popular and allowed the commercial version to be introduced. People never get tired of the 1st person shoot 'em ups. Amazing.

I was playing Wolfenstein 3D this morning on PS3. It's very entertaining. As well as an essential piece of videogame history.There were first person tank sims and fighter pilot games before Wolf, but this was definitely the first with you seeing from the guy's perspective with a gun in his hand, a trick used thousands of times in games since. I miss the old school FPS games like Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, and Duke Nukem

Atleast things aren't edited out on the Ps3 port, like on snes, like the swastikas, bone piles, bones on the floors, enemies laying in blood, and giant rats on snes instead of dogs, I guess snes didn't want its system having a game where you could shoot dogs.

If you havent play old shooters you might say that you had iron sights on old quake 1 mods such was a dday normandy from 1997 or 1998 cant remember the exact year it was basicly the first "game" to have ironsights and it dint change the gameplay one bit.

Halo has regeneration, weapon limit etc... and doesnt have any exploration value whatsoever.

In old games exploration was essentials since you got healthpacks, ammo, armor or powerups.
