  • You know, it's just a little bit Suspect when you see this Gentleman wearing a Gold Chain and Large Gold ring. I came to understand that Yogis are people who seek higher enlightenment, yet you see this person dressing himself in Gold.

  • @MrSupertwo The man isn't allowed to receive gifts?

  • i really dont understand why everyone is so obsessed with him. he has got whatever he has with his own efforts. whether he wants to flaunt it or not is his personal choice.why be so judgemental. if any of you are so good as him, then why are you even here to see the video. you should open up your own Institute. he deserves what he gets. and if he asks for more its his life. not yours. he has achieved it. not you. so stop being the supreme court of morals and look at yourself first.

  • Thank you for posting this video. In Italian: grazie per aver messo questo video!

  • Ahimsa brothers and sisters, love and be gentle.

  • Only someone who has never studied Iyengar Yoga with a qualified teacher could dismiss it as acrobatics. I studied with Guruji. He emphasizes the holding of asanas in precise form because he believes the body must be prepared for pranayama.

Most classes ended with 20 mins or more of pranayama--with the caution not to engage in the more advanced breathing if there was any discomfort. However, we regularly did pranayama for up to 90 mins sometimes. Each time I entered a trance. Acrobatics? No!

  • Enlightened my ass. He's one of the most egoistic pricks around! His knowledge about human anatomy is woefully poor. During a visit to this guy's institute I had a hard time explaining to one trainer that there are intervertebrae discs in the neck. And these people actually take medical cases. There is plenty proof that years of practicing yoga turns one into a first rate narcissistic idiot, as is the case here. What are u gonna do with a harmonious body if ur top floor is fucked n full of shit?

  • @amitnewyork How do you think an "enlightened" person should speak about other people, including those with home he or she has had a bad experience?

  • if you get me or not if i didnt start drinkiking alcohol i wouldnt be alive now. good on you mate,

  • Haha, the first time I met him he was talking on a cellphone doing a book deal.

The second time I was there in Pune he was walking through the reception area with a huge armful of cash.

And my experience is that these incidents pretty much sum the man up.

Hey don't get me wrong, I actually like the guy but he is a gymnast and he is a very successful entrepreneur and businessman. He pretty much admits it in this video, hey, let's just be honest about all this that's all.

  • @cspace1234nz

Dude, your words show the lack of an understanding and distorted perception

1.everyone makes business deals and walks around with $.that's how we survive!

2.gymnasts retire in their 30's.. lucky those who manage into their 40-50's due to excessive strain on a body. This guy will turn 91!That just mean he delivers a nothing else but TRUTH about metaphysics of a human's nature and the state of Union. He is a unique man and we owe him a BIG thanks!

  • Yes, it's a pity he sold out isn't it ?

Discovered those US dollars along the way like the rest of them. Oh and I am very clear about the matter, no muddled thinking here, unlike you who has clearly muddied the waters.

  • When you were sleeping at 5 AM, BKS was doing pranayama.

  • Ahhhh, the curse of assumption !

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

  • @cspace1234nz

I feel very sorry for you. It is so much harder for those you really believe they understand how it is....I hope you wake up.

  • @cspace1234nz since you know all the tricks why don't you do the same yourself , learn yoga, practice it, master it and then sell it. I am confident you will be a miserable failure in every field that you try.

  • Hey, that really makes sense now doesn't it ?

    Idiot !

  • @cspace1234nz you are a low IQ trash who has no business to talk nonsense and lies here, if you are better do it yourself

  • Now that makes even more sense.

Not very bright are you ?

  • @cspace1234nz

At least he is better than Bikram of California, who was hellbent upon patenting yoga asanas. Thankfully, sense prevailed, and his application was rejected.

  • @amitnewyork Fair point but the one thing I appreciate about Bikram is that he is unashamedly entrepreneurial. He has always been upfront and honest about being in it to make money, as opposed to these other ones like Iyengar who say one thing but are quietly cashing in big time since discovering the US dollar.

  • @cspace1234nz

Well...he isn't as big a money whore as Bikram is. This mutt likes attention. I remember sitting in a beginners' orientation class, where he announced that he'd figured in Time's 100 most influential people on earth, following it with an ugly Satanic laughter that reeked of criminal self-obsession. I may've been mistaken but my feelings were confirmed as I climbed up the stairs with walls laced with every big/small shield/certificate he'd ever achieved. Why such ugly show-off?

  • @amitnewyorkI know exactly what you mean. Same sort of thing happened with Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, among others. I think it all started out with a real and genuine purity of intent but with so many of these ones somewhere along the way they lose that when they remain unchecked.

  • @amitnewyork Iyengar is actually a hell of a nice guy. One time I was there it was his 81st birthday celebrations. The loyal students (the uptight fragile ones) were at the institute 4 hours early to get a good seat. I came in, saw an empty spot and sat there. I was told it was his seat but being an arrogant westerner I ignored them and sat down. When he came in, to the utter disgust of those others, he happily sat with me. He liked me, we talked about cricket all the time.

  • @cspace1234nz

If these ppl really understood the truth of what they were doing, how could they lose it? No, they never had it. He himself has said he pursued Yoga to prove to himself he was a worthy & capable individual. That was his sole motive. I don't wish to crucify him, but truth is his very presence is permeated with stubborn egotism. And it shows everywhere. His views on harmony between mind & body are pretty idiotic too. U will easily be able to infer this man has never expended......tbc

  • contd...an iota of effort in exploring the layers of his consciousness. Yogis are all about physicals. Even their meditations are all about physics - strictly correct posture, mudras, watching breaths mechanically. Shit load of Buddhists have been watching their breaths for over 4000 years, and all they've produced is tonnes of forced CO2, and not a single Buddha. No no no. Yogis have gone all wrong with this science. They're way off the track regardless of what they'd have everyone believe.

  • @amitnewyork I agree with you completely and I have been teaching "yoga" for many years, the difference being that I tell everyone from day one that this is not a spiritual path, it's a sophisticated program of exercise. It's a great way of taking care of your body but can also be a great obstacle to spiritual development.

  • @cspace1234nz

If u are doing that, my friend, I must salute your courage to let honesty & truth lead the way. Attainment of spiritual reality requires only one's availability to it - surrender, not action. And one fine day then, it'll hit like a bolt of lightening, both deafening and blinding the person instantly. Rest of the life is a pain. The only thing making it worth is the fragrance of freedom it gives. Keep up the good work, mate!

  • @amitnewyork Yes that's so true. The only thing I can add is that sometimes even the most genuine seeker has to work through many different ideas and concepts in order to make these most simple realisations. Even the Buddha worked his way through various forms of unsuitable practice before finding his correct path.

So if it means Iyengar's highly gymnastic approach for a while so be it.

"It's good to be born into a church but not good to die in one"

  • @cspace1234nz From what I'm gathering from the both of you gentlemen,I understand that you both disagree that yoga is purely acrobatics and stretching and that BKS is utterly arrogant?

  • @amitnewyork That laugh was meant to indicate that he found it amusing.

  • god bless pakistan and maharatra.

  • For a man whos on the verge of extinction to do these moves is quite incredible? Way to go oldie...

  • Namaste...BR

  • Does anyone know the music in the soundtrack? Thanks.

  • Thank you for posting this video. Mr. Iyengar has so much to offer. What an amazing human being he is.

  • Yes, he deserves the up most respect. It would be wonderful if all the the money in the world was given to such a man who in turn: further assist in helping people who live in poverty and are ailing in health in modern society who cannot afford yoga classes. The yoga teacher 'stars' today are so full of ego and ignorance and yet make so much money-this is not "yoga" as we know it-it is corruption

  • The one and only yogacharya
