  • Reminds me of Wednesday night cruisin' up and down Van Nuys Blvd. in the San Fernando Valley.

  • She's gonna get a ticket, now, sooner or later 'cuz she can't keep her foot off the accelerator.

  • Great band, but this is surely one the of worst pieces of crap ever recorded.

  • never heard the beach boys do this, too me it was always a jan & dean song.

  • Takes me back to when I was driving on Colorado Blvd. in my shiny red Dodge Challenger R/T conv/440 sixpack and the 4 speed early one sunday morning and this song came on the radio (KRTH).

  • That's going to me when I'm old....can't keep my foot off the accelerator! WHOOOHOOO!

  • Great hearing Brian on this song, he's spot on as always... it's just a shame about every other aspect of this recording!

  • The 1964 Dodge Polara Super Stock edition with a 426 Max Wedge Ram-Charger motor with Stage III cylinder heads and 12.5:1 pistons was factory rated at 425 bhp but was more like 500+ hp to the keep insurance prices down. No doubt there was nobody meaner! :-)

  • @jerseynev fast and furious 302

  • a good time to mobs to bother with advertising. Appears every Monday on breeding! The latest concoction of super worm. Monday. Remember those days. Monday.

i used google translate for this.

  • For a show at my school, people rewrote this so that it was a soccer mom from my town :)

  • It's better by Jan and Dean!

  • @zijnemajesteit aslkdjj fajsoid fajlsdkjf huhsdudhuu diiif dsiajgi aijsdf saidgi gidsig ij dsi gij

  • should have been there

  • This is the best arrangement of this song.. the studio recording is rather slow, but this live version has a certain zip....

  • my favorite Beach Boys song. I just love the image of a renegade grandma in a suped-up hotrod.

  • What you are hearing here is an actual Beach Boys recording of this tune, not Jan and Dean. The tune was written in 1960 by Jan and two other guys and first recorded by Jan and Dean.

  • Yes, it was Jan and Dean that sang this song, not the Beach Boys. Brian Wilson only sang back up. Beach Boys did Barbara Ann, and the singer from Jan and Dean backed them up on that. They collaborated alot which is why their sounds are very similar, and it used to anger their managers when they did.

  • @jerseynev

It was used on a cartoon (Animaniacs) once.

  • jan and dean's song. Brian helped on it. :)

  • this is the actual beach boys version thanks!!!!!

  • Great cover recorded live at the Civic Auditorium in Sacramento in July 1964 ;)

  • listen to Brian sing go granny go

  • Audio seems as if speed enhanced - [§:(€]. I Like the surprise additional verse. Also appreciate the streaming lyrics, but puzzled by the non-English insertions. Thanks for the interesting upload. 4-stars.

  • @zzgizz01 Yes, faster speed not as good IMHO. Some of the Beach boy songs sound slowed down also. This was my generation and never could figure out the differences in speed then. Maybe that is the answer: Speed? or sometimes the Lack of 'Speed' if you get my drift.

  • Jan and Dean?

  • Puro VaRrio Jan and Dean RiFando mas que los Beach Boys vaRrio!

  • there was a song on this broadcast called Long Tall Texan. PLEASE>> can

you put it on youtube too

  • @oldermusiclover /watch?v=4iIQFeJD7ss here it is :P

  • I am singing this is in coru and we made up an awesome dance!!

  • The Jan and Dean version is SO much better!

  • @Simps4ever like their version, but tgis oe has extra verse.

read a book about an authur that toured with Jan and Deans

oldies show for two years. Al Jordens son played and sang with them the year Jan died.

I posted by mistake to someone else that it was Mikes, but

knew as soon as i hit send it was wrong Beac Boy.

  • @oldermusiclover Yes, the "missing" verse! I have an old book that has the lyrics with that included. I guess it was this version I heard years ago on local oldies radio, as I was blown away when that verse was included. I wasn't paying attention I guess, as I've looked for it for years, thinking it was an extended Jan & Dean cut.

  • iT SOUNDS LIKE THEY'RE PLAYING THIS SOUND TRACK TO FAST .

  • according to wiki this version reached the top 10 in the philippines.

  • Reminds me of my mother-in-law driving my corvette HaHa

  • God Bless Betsy Freck!!!!!

  • whats with the german?

  • Dutch. :P

  • @cantcatchme420 huh whast german

  • Their live voices are featured in this clip.

From left to right: Carl Wilson, Dennis Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine and Brian

    Wilson.

  • Brian Wilson wrote this song for Jan and Dean so, get it right, it's not Jan and Dean's song, though they immortalized it.

  • Brian Wilson did not write this song. You are thinking of "Surf City" which Brian wrote and sang falsetto on the hit recording. It was his first #1 hit, and it wasn't with the Beach Boys.

  • @cobrajetter brian did in fact write this song, for jan and dean..

  • Respectfully, Don Altfeld, Jan Berry and Roger Christian wrote this song. They are the ones credited with it and the ones who receive royalties from it. Check any Brian Wilson discography, and you will NOT find it listed.

The confusion probably comes from Roger "Hot DogRog" Christian's involvement, since he collaborated with Brian on so many of the car songs the Beach boys had success with.

  • cobra, i stand corrected ,you are right..

  • Nope, Brian wrote Surf City for Jan and Dean and also he wrote Dead Man's Curve with Jan and Dean.

  • @hammerbrother Co wrote surf city. It was unfinished and called surfin woodie.

  • for about 6 months after brian had his nervous breakdown

  • When the band recorded this Jan & Dean song, was this during the time when Glen Campbell was playing with the band? I remember that he was a Beach Boy for awhile, but can't recall what years he was with the band. Can anyone tell me that info?

  • Glen Campbell toured for about six months in the 1965-66 time frame. He was one of the session musicians Brian sometimes used during his early recordings. When he left the touring band, Brian said to Glen he was dumb. "Guess I'm Dumb" was Glen's reported response. Brian then wrote the song for Glen. I don't know if it's true, but it makes a good story.

  • Jan&Dean are much more better.

  • therse nobody meaner than that granny from pasadener

  • This song comes from a pitch used by used car salesmen in California, when asked who was the last owner of a certain car. The answer they gave was "A little old lady from Pasadena, and she just drove it to and from church on Sundays." Now we see what that little old lady was really doing.

  • Hey that piece of info is great...I always wanted to know the reason and that is why U TUBE is a great thing. Thanks

  • Any jan and dean fans on here check out jason seymour jan berry tribute song, well worth a listen

  • Hey, Jan and dean's version was better, But this is a live on stage recording with out the sound mixing.

  • im singing this at the choir concert at my school

  • Comment removed

  • *shrugs*

    just saying

  • i would appreciate you not calling me a bitch

its not racist its meant to be funny not racial

so please do not insult me

  • THEY LOVE IT !!!!

  • not exactly-they dubbed on the vocals in post production as the original which you can hear on "Live in Sacramento" was a bit rough

  • California "lifestyle" song at it's best!

  • Believe it or not....my 98 year old grandmother used to live in Pasadena, Maryland. Ok, ....its not the same Pasadena, but still she was the little old lady from Pasadena, lol.

  • @BurgerChefGuy Did she have a red 426 Hemi Super Stock Dodge?

  • @4thstooge I wish, LOL!

  • Key change on last chorus really wakes it up!

  • "what a bunch of faggets." YES!! WE ARE!

  • se me ta yo ga lted kjiti gemesde

  • 昔のアメリカの明るいサウンドが懐かしい!

  • Sha KOOpa TEE-la neDEEE-NOOOOOOOOOO!

  • The Beach Boys pwn this.

  • too fast. Jan & Dean is better.

  • This song reminds me of Forest Hills, Queens, in the early 1980's. There were all these old ladies who drove sedans that they could barely see out of. When my mom saw one of them she'd yell "shit another old lady behind the wheel" and she get out of the way FAST.

  • ILU CASS!

  • jan and deans version is better. Mike is too nasaliy

  • thats very true :D

  • good song
