I was there at the fun frolic when they filmed this video, I was just a little guy around 11 years old. There was a small crowd, but it was kind of relaxed, we were all real close to John and saw them filming. I doubt you could get so close to musicians while they filmed videos these days. But it was Bloomington, IN and things are usually more calm there than other places. Thanks to John M. for representing Hoosiers so well for all these years.
Hadn't seen this in decades. It probably remains the best of Mellencamp's "character studies" of small-town American life. A true classic. Thanks for posting!
if you don't like the shit don't fucking watch it or listen to it or any thing just because you got the internet to talk trash about shit that you would not speak in front of somebody so shut the fuck up and go suck yourself
Never will figure this guy out. He talks like some Michael Moore devotee who thinks America has abused the rest of the world. I doubt the people in this video agree with his populist rhetoric that I'm sure he doesn't live by. REAL easy to talk the way he does when you've acquired that kind of money. Its so funny to hear the Mellencamp's, Edwards' and Kerrys of the world talk about the plight of the poor. Anyone know how much John Kerry donated before he had to show is tax returns?
@squeakens Like Mellencamp, Charlie Daniels is a talented musician. However, I doubt you would reprimand him for his outspoken political views. Why? Because he is a staunch pro-Republican and so are you. Yet you can sit there and go after someone like Mellencamp, who is just as outspoken as Daniels, and chastise him because he DOESN'T hold the same political views as your own? Can you say DOUBLE STANDARD? Besides, Mellencamp is a great musician. So get over yourself, relax and enjoy the music.
@squeakens Do some research on the guy before you start to question his "rhetoric". He came from some of the most humble beginnings. He knows exactly what he's talkin' about when it comes to the plight of the American blue collar worker and farming community. He has never lost sight of his roots. How he views how America treats others and it's own is hardened by the fact that his money has made it possible to SEE first hand around the world the effects of our nations decisions.
@squeakens And before you say or think it, I'm not a communist, socialist, terrorist. I love our nation. People should do actual research on topics instead of believing things because "My daddy said so".
Once again, Mr. Mellencamp is instilling his small town values in his music, and, once again, it works. I only wish that big cities could get on board. Tragically, they don't, and that sucks.
I like this song a lot and the video. I like Cherry Bomb. I like the idea of John Cougar changing his name to Mellencamp just to become more popular (OK so I got it backwards). I like the idea of the woman not being great looking in theory but then the video would be a little better with a little more beautiful woman. I like the fact that John seems like one of the few rockers who would hang out with ordinary guys like me. OK - I am extraordinary and might not talk to John but look I'm sorry.
i can honestly say i have never drank a starbucks coffee. why you may ask? well i will tell ya. i dont drink coffee period. ive tried it every way they make it and cannot establish a taste for the stuff. even when i worked on the rail road around some rough and tough men i would order 75 coffee.s to go and one hot chocolate with extra marsh mallows with a spoon. lol and i couldnt grow a beard either. funny i still got the men to work for me . lol
Haven't seen this video in a LONG time ! I was working at the carnival there in Bloomington the night he filmed the carnival scenes. I got to see a couple friends working that have long since traveled / Moved on. Me and my co-worker , being Guy's had the scene we were in cut out of the video. the tracks for the film crew run right past our game. I did get to meet John and the band though which was nice. If Rosie and Debbie see this video and this post........Lil Tim say's "HI TO Y'ALL " '

@jncarlos007= He's a jackass. He has no talent, and he always has that stupid angry look on his face. Around here, he's about as popular as Richard Pryor at a Ku klux klan rally. And he is a drama queen.
