I think the person was referring to how much was left out of the anime that was in the novels. Taking Umineko as an example (because I've barely played any of the Higurashi novels yet D: ) the scene where Rosa kicks major goat-kun ass was SO watered down in the anime. Many crowning moment of awesome scenes in the novel were skipped over or watered down horribly in the anime.

This is because the anime took many days worth of novel material into 26 eps.

Because people complain about anime-only people, like myself, but if they arent translated (which I assume, but I can be wrong) and people can't read or understand japanese... then can we get a little more credit for only watching the anime?

Visual and Sound Novels are kinda different from regular games. All you have to do is read, and sometimes interact, (choose something to say to somebody among several possible choices etc...) but in Umineko you don't. In Sound Novels, the music is more important than in Visual Novels, if I'm not mistaking. Umineko is a Sound Novel, you can enjoy some really epic music while the way characters are drawn is not something most people would call "damn beautiful", but it's actually rather cute IMO.

Yep, and you read, of course ! In fact, it's more about reading while listening to the music and also looking at some pictures of the environment and the characters. There are dialogs, descriptions, the characters' inner thoughts and all that stuff. I'm not sure whether I'm clear or not, sorry xD

Its just so hard for me to comprehend how the VNs and SNs of both Higurashi and Umineko can be so drasticaly amazingly better than the animes when I think that they cant get any better xD

Yes they are. There is just much more in the SN ! How should I explain it ? Well you know more about the characters in general, what they think, you have more explanations about why they act like this or that. There's just more of everything xD

Also the VN tends to really stress some things, and to stop on some details (relevant or not) and all of this can set a really paeculiar atmosphere that you don't really get in the anime, even if you think you do.

Another thing I'd like to add about the SN. Konfizry hit most of the points I would say, and this is my opinion, but when I played it I understood a lot more of the play on words that can only be explained in Japanese lettering and stuff i.e the epitaph itself. Basically like he/she said earlier the SN just gives a lot more information in general.

to be fair, the Higurashi anime was even worse about leaving stuff out. the SNs of the whole series are definitely better, but if you dont have the free time to buy and read the SNs, the animes are good substitutes

As for how to get Umineko, you can either order it on the internet, or download it (but that's illegal ;D) And the team Witch Hunt did a great job translating it into Shakespear's language, so yes, can get Umineko in English. DEEN didn't exactly do a bad job, and you can't really blame them due to their budget and time, but it's true that the anime missed a lot of details that are essential to the story, thus causing a lot of anime-only watchers to misunderstand the meaning of the story. That's why some VNers are pissed off.

There's more to it than that... the only things in common so far are Bernkastel and Lambdadelta who are based off of Rika and Takano respectively.

It'll probably take a while; after all, Umineko has been released just recently and even though 07th Expansion's popping out games like crazy, the anime creators still have to wait until the game series is finished before they can make the anime so they don't have to stop in the middle to wait for a new game to come out. It may take YEARS. Higurashi took that long.

It won't take years. Keep in mind that Higurashi wasn't super popular when it first came out like Umineko was, many didn't know who Ryukishi07 or what 07th Expansion was. The Umineko anime may start next year because even though the games aren't done releasing, they'll have enough material to use for the first season. Also the company already stated that the project started this summer and two voice actors were confirmed.
