I haven't forgotten I'm reminded of all those people who died from this every time I go shopping. I have yet to buy another ML product... I mean people fucking died, I don't care how safe they say it is, now its a matter of principal.
Not once is there any mention of being sorry that people died from this, no mention or sign of compassion towards their families, what is MLF doing to help them. I understand the importance of letting the public know what MLF has done to improve & gain the public's trust again, but you would think Mr. McCain would make reference to the deaths in some form to also let the public know they were responsible for more than making people ill...they were responsible or deaths & they don't own up to it
Mr. McCain said "I'm sorry" in the first commercial regarding the recall four months ago. That in itself was almost unprecedented, certainly in Canada.
Actually if you listen to his interviews when it first happened he apologized multiple times. 3 months later, he's just trying to explain that they fixed the problem, he doesn't really need to keep apologizing, they're trying to look good again not bringing up the bad. It's called good PR
Most companies would try to evade the issue. MLF recognized the problem, which was incredible in itself, and took full responsibility. More importantly they did something about it even though they knew that for many the damage to their reputation was irreversible.
Is the response perfect? No. But at least they went way above what anyone was asking of them, and for that they merit recognition.
You guys wouldn't believe the stuff that goes on behind the scenes with food, not just at Maple Leaf Foods. Shit happens. Some people die. Life goes on. You wouldn't be able to convince me you never had anything to do with the death of some living thing.
"The recall is over and the problems that led to it have been fixed." Is it now safe for the elderly, pregnant and immune-compromised to eat MLF cold cuts?
"All ML products in stores now meet or exceed the CFIA and Health Canada requirements." What are the CFIA and Health Canada requirements?
"If our safety experts have any concerns, the product won't leave the plant." What qualifies as a concern? Are there any guidelines? Is the product being tested and held until results are available?

Michael McCain, President & CEO of Maple Leaf.
Do not ever forget this name my fellow Canadians!
His next job is CEO again but, we should all hope,
not in the food industry.

Why don't you write an essay on that...or research instead of bashing MLF

You are 11 months too late. The public has already forgotten.
