It’s nice for people to show concern for an animal’s welfare. It is also nice to see that a person has faith in a higher power. What is not nice is ignorance. If you don’t research a specific breed’s trait first before speaking then you is libel to say something that might make you look less than smart, also if you show intolerance to another person’s religion you show your own deep seated bigotry. Bottom line is: Love is okay, ignorance is not!

1.) It is actually a common thing in Danes and Mastiffs to have protruding hips, regardless of weight. Our mastiff is like that, and he is a healthy weight.

2.) You cant see ribs, or the spine. They are not malnourished. They look quite happy, in fact.

3.) Even if they are too skinny, did you ever stop to think maybe they are rescue dogs? We got our dog from rescue, and he was bone thin for two months until we got him up to weight.

4.) stop being an ass when you don't know the situation.

If the people live in a country with no restriction regarding animal checkups it could be heartworms, they also have that sort of effect on dogs. Regardless when a dog look like that the natural thing to do is getting it checked out at the vet.

The Dane is absolutely fine. They don't need to be fattened up unnecessarily, Last 2 ribs should always be visible on a Dane.

You don't know how old the Great Dane is either. A lot of them stay gangly until 3 or 4 before they finally really pack on that muscle mass.

Too many ignorant people with large breed dogs commenting on giant breeds they just have no clue about.

There's a difference between fattenening them up unnecessarily, and hardly feeding them anything at all. These are too thin even for young gangly dogs. There's a hell of a lot more showing than just two ribs on these dogs. :-(

And FYI: I HAVE giant breeds, thanks very much. Danes and Mastiffs. ;-)

I have a 180lb 38" male who comment that he's underfed and underweight all the time.

Really though, he eats 6lbs of Raw food every day and is just by nature a lean dog.

I've seen Mastiffs and Danes that look much worse off than these two. They are on the skinny side but they most definitely don't look like they're neglected.

These dogs are very poor Representatives of the breed and are also in very poor condition! They are WAY to small for their breed standards, their underweight by A LOT! I could write a book about everything wrong with these dogs!! ( Their very short and thin for the breeds they are! )
