  • Much love to Annette & The Beach Boys.

  • Who said white people can't dance?!?

  • annette was certinly the hottest hottie ever! all natual too.no implants, botox, silicone, fanny lifts, tummy tucks,or celulite issues.

  • I bet Dennis had his pick of which wet- bottom he wanted to jack after this gig.. Lucky Guy !

  • Watch Annette 1:50 into the clip. The way she looks at Mike Love, I swear she's thinking "C'mon now, Mike...remember your line...DON'T SCREW THIS UP LIKE YOU DID DURING THE REHEARSAL!"

At any rate, it's one of my favorite B-Boys, Annette clips!

  • Fendertones A must See best beach boys cover band they are just awesome !!!

  • hAVE THIS ON THE ORIGINAL 45 and the Original Picture sleeve with Tommy Kirk and some old fart who's name I can't remember!

  • the federtones? give me a break. not even close.

  • I love Annette Funicello

  • I have this song on my iPod but I would much rather watch the video of Annette singing!!

  • Why doesn't Mike Love do something, like pretend to sing backup?

  • Typical Mike Love, standing their dancing on his owns where he sings like 1 word throughout the whole song..

  • in terms of subject matter, this song bears a resemblance to "abba dabba honeymoon."

  • The Beach Boys do the same dance in almost every early video.

  • silliness

  • @biblerockets Tough words...Bible Rockets.

  • 1:25 Heel fetish!

  • Drums could use more echo.

  • Wait a second! When they showed this on "The Wonderful World of Color/Disney," were the opening credits still superimposed over this number? Or did they show a credits-free version? (I ask because it's my vague recollection that the TV show never included theatrical credits on the movies themselves - they would do those separately over the shot of Cinderella's Castle.)

  • Ok seriously, they should show more of Dennis!!

  • Yea yea!

  • @heehawkdown then by all means heehawkdown...have a cup or two!!!!!

  • @heehawkdown Want a punch bowl, listen to RAP!!!

  • the fendertones are great there sound takes you back to the old days of great beach boys music.there sound is as close to the orignal sound as you could ever get.

  • So...why exactly did they decide to sing a song about a monkey's uncle???

  • Lovin' the Love!

  • Comment removed

  • The Beach Boys must have actually met Walt Disney.

  • The world needs more Sherman Brothers!

  • I hate to think of Annette being so ill and fighting for her life!!

  • @desert3347 Theres a place in heaven for this great lady after all the happiness she brought us over the years. So sad she has to suffer all these years.

  • @Robert4770 AGREE!

  • I too recommend tuning in to The Fendertones! Their rendition is incredible! listen i am a diehard bboys fan but these guys take the cake

  • @thebchbys Yea wow i was hoping they would get back together

  • @thebchbys OMG you can't be serious.

  • @thebchbys Its really great that they are back together isnt it who sez you cant surf in pennsylvania

  • @thebchbys they arent that great its like a group of 10-15 guys trying to get the sound of 5

  • @bobluman4 the reason the Fendertones use that many vocalists live- is to cover the fact that Brian would over dub The Beach Boys voices several times in the studio.

  • The great Fendertones have a new version of this song out now on youtube. They have a hot blond girl singer doing Annettes` part.

If you haven`t heard them, the Fendertones do incredibly good Beach Boys stuff.

  • @joebubbadude But the Beach Boys do it better!

  • This world needs more Annettes.

  • Annette was so gorgeous

  • @coolsweetgroovy aw thanks, D.. one person comes to mind, Sir Mick the monkey man..

so dedicate this to him, and yes no doubt i would love 'his chimpanzee', lol

  • @FinallyunderstandU Good one CC

  • @coolsweetgroovy hehe hi D

  • @coolsweetgroovy cute share, D i am ape for it lol

  • @FinallyunderstandU me too LOL

  • One of the greatest ironies of the movie business of all times is that the clean model of an American decent and moral girl was actress Annette Funicello. But, She is also the record holder of inducing more masturbations, mainly in teenagers. In this category, Funicello just by modest twist dancing and singing, by far surpasses the lewdest porno-actresses playing the raunchiest tricks.

Boys in the 60s did a lot of exercise with Anette´s Do it Yourself Courses.

  • I LOVE THIS.

  • So what was this even about? :d

  • So catchy! I love this song!

  • Alguem sabe o nome no brasil desse film?

  • It's also on track 16 of disc 2 of "The Best Disney Album in the World...Ever" IN STEREO (as seen in the related/suggested videos here).

  • My uncle has every album. I heared them all but the first time I ever hearer'd this. What album was released on if it ever was

  • @ps3matty It was first released on "Annette At Bikini Beach" then later also on "Annette Sings Golden Surfin' Hits".

  • @ps3matty

Sure your uncle was one of those boys infatuated with Annette.

  • all those dances back in the sixties for this type of music was nothing but pure excersize but fun. I do this all the time because I love this type of music. Thank you mom for raising me on Annette and Frankie and all. From your 20 something kid! ^_^

  • The lyrics instantly made me think of the spoof musical "Stop The Planet Of The Apes: I Want To Get Off!" on The Simpsons.

  • Back when Mike Love had hair, though it was in the early stages of sliding backwards!!

  • The monkeys uncle...it's the dogs bollocks !

  • This is my favorite opening title sequence to ANY Disney film!! Annette and The Beach Boys....unbeatable combination!.....and written by the Sherman Brothers!

  • Annette's skin is flawless! :)

    Love this song!

  • Classic Carl Wilson rif in theme song. Annette was lucky "Uncle Walt" had Beach Boys under contract. Brian didn't care for this type of thing but Murray, ever the promoter, thought it was good PR. Probably was.

  • What the hell was that? But it was hot ,sort of

  • she looks as if she's plastic omg

  • The Beach Boys perform the main title for a predictably crummy mid-'60s Disney film, but it's still a good Sherman-Sherman song. Plus, it breaks my heart to see women in pretty dresses and guys in coats and ties. I was in court yesterday and was utterly disgusted by both the attorneys' and defendants' attire. We have become a nation of utter fucking slobs.

  • @ignoranceandwant You're absolutely right, most of the so called suits that work in the city of London don't wear suits anymore. The Police very rarely wear their helmets or caps when attending a minor incident neither their clip on ties. It seems you can wear any colour of shirt, tie, shoe and you don't even have to have them polished. Here, here lets have a renaissance in smart clothing and dressing smartly.

  • Cool and innocent.

  • @cubbiebear528

Not so innocent, we know now of Ol´fart Walt faggricating teen males stars, trying and testing the young males to-be-actors, prior to accept them for the movies, just to make sure that they could stand the pressure and still go.

  • im only 13 but i love this!

  • I have this 45 with picture sleeve .

  • god annette was one hot peice of italian mickey mouse club ass

  • I miss these old songs.

  • It just don't sound like the Beach Boys throughout…

  • I can't stop watching this!

  • Absolutely great! Greets from Freiburg

    princess-estefania . com

  • Excellent! Good clean fun with a taste of rock & roll. Thank you for posting.

  • to mikethekhotmailcom; you have to watch "the girls on the beach" the way you do any of the old beach movies....with a suspended state of reality. if you can you may find them at least somewhat entertaing. I do. I like the film for what is...silliness.

  • Back when Mike Love almost had a full head of hair!!

  • FYI the beach boys also made another film that is difficult to find called "the girls on the beach". they played a larger role in it then this one. in it they appeared playing several of their own songs in various scenes. its a funny little film so I cant figure why its never showed. if anyone has it upload it and we'll all enjoy.

  • next to the beatles the beach boys were the biggest recording artists going in 1965 when this movie was made. so it makes perfect sense the film producers wanted the beach boys singing and playing the films title song along with every boys favorite hottie annette funocello. she and they did a very good job with this song. it grows on you the more you play it.

  • Annette was at her most beautiful here. The best song The Beach Boys ever recorded. Just a GREAT FUN SONG.

  • @ScrapNfight Hahaha I think God Only Knows or Good Vibrations might hold that title...this is a nice little song though. Mike Love is so awkward dancing with her (or in general lol).

  • they should have showed Carl's solo !

  • c'mon guys act your age

  • i wish i was a beach boy.... but im a girl

  • @River2Leeds You could lol be a Ocean Girl?

  • Some decades I had an Italian girlfriend looking very similar to Annette!

She lived in Florence. The song is great!

    princess-estefania . com

  • Love this song! so funny!

  • Now this is classic! The Beach Boys AND Annette! The 60's rocked when it came to music! Love the fashion and dances too!

  • Yeah, mike love didn't like 'Smile'. He didn't want to 'mess with the formula.' Douche!

  • super!!!!!

  • What do you call that dance?

  • ASTUTE!

  • I am amazed at the amount of witty, insightful comments that really a throwaway piece would trigger. I especially liked the comment how it was crap like this that probably put Brian over the edge. I agree. Also how this Beach Boys performance has 'Murray' written all over it. The best was Mike Love is a horrible person and they would've liked to have seen Annette Funicello replace him. One thing about Beach Boys,REAL Beach Boys fans (and that basically means Brian Wilson fans:) they're pretty as

  • @Brianbellew Brian Wilson fans... as well as Carl. An underappreciated and talented teddy bear of a guy who we'll all miss.

  • I remember seeing the movie when it came out in the early 1960; I'm that old!! Love the song.

  • Whoa!! I saw this on the Wonderfull World Of Disney when I was a kid in the '70s, and I remembered the song, but I had no idea it was the Beach Boys!! I'm not sure when I watched this, but I seem to remember finding out that it was Annette Funicello when I saw it at a later time. So if I knew who she was then, I must've known about the Beach Boys. But I guess I just didn't recognise them. (I'd only seen them with beards in the '70s.)

  • Great song, and a great video. Thanks for posting. It's also a very hard to find movie.

  • Its true ! Annette was HOT!

  • This is weak for Brian. The Beach Boys make this song. Go BB's and Brian's falsetto. Mike you need to work on your dancing. lol

  • Disney just gets better and better

  • @strangebutnormal666 not really. you dont see this kind of stuff anymore

  • Brian didn't write this song. The Beach Boys were just hired to sing it.

  • Is that Captain Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters?

  • I bet that Dennis could have bagged anyone of these chicks at any giving time. Ha I bet he did ..

  • @tigernut100 :Shit, I had a woody for Annette in the 50's, and I was only 5 years old!

  • What a weird song! But still I like it, sound very 60'ish and that blends very well with the Boys style.

Now I only wonder why I had never herad about this? I don't remmeber eny biography of the Beach Boys saying a thing about them doing this song or appearing in this movie,. Ten minutes ago, I ddn't even now this existed. And that's a waste.

  • I was looking up Disney child stars and found out Tommy Kirk was messing around with a 14 year old boy.Mr.Disney brought Tommy back to do one last movie and they let him go.Yeah the kid from Old Yeller.

  • @TheDragonknee71 Tommy has had a troubled life, and Walt "discovering" him in a dressing room didn't help. But I think TK was a talented actor.

  • This is classic footage, Annette and the Beach Boys? Two So Ca icons from the early 60s. The song is pure pop and Brian Wilson certainly wasn't anything heavier than this at the time.

  • Annette doesnt mix well with The Beach Boys.

  • Isn't Mike Love just a dreadful person? Look at him. He increases the fail factor of this already awful pastiche by (just a minute while I ask a scientist) 2378478%.

  • She is so CUTE!

  • Annette's name should been on the beginning credits!

  • I wanna be BOTH her belted pad AND vibrator!!!......(wooooaaaaa)

  • 1965 I would have love to tear up that Monkey on that girl...

  • I think it's a very catchy little ditty I always have. But if you think it's corny, cheesy, you can count on it that so did the Beach Boys as well as Annette.

  • Everything about it is undeniably catchy, but the words "cheesy" and "juvenile" invade my head. How in the world did they talk Brian Wilson into this ??? I like how they drop Annette Funicello's last name in the credits. She must have been so big at the time as to glean first name recognition status like, Sting, Cher, Oprah ect.

  • @LOOKN450 I recommend the Tom Hanks' movie "That Thing You Do" to see how record companies debase any semblance of music talent that a group may possess. I believe Hanks explored the phenonmenon when he had the group, the Wonders, currently with the number one hit in the country performing in a teenage beach movie as Captain ? and the Shirmp-Shack Shooters. It's a very common theme, and it has undone many a band. I remember seeing Sprinfield on like the Andy Griffths show. Embarrassing.

  • @phddddd yea that movie is ok if you read the rolling stone history of rock the chapter on johnny and the huricanes it says their story isn typical a local group that had regional hits then national hits then they didnt make any money [ if you put the two movies about the beach boys togther summer dreams and an american family you get something like what happened to them that tv series american dreams about a girl that wants to be on american bandstand you get some of that ].

  • @phddddd Good comment! BTW it was It was Captain Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters.

  • @LOOKN450 Gifted Brian Wilson may have been but he wasn't completely blind to commercial realities, especially at that stage in his career.

Of course the alternative is that *he* wasn't talked into this. Murry or someone else was talked into it and the band were made to comply. Total conjecture but not impossible.

  • @eszettfromhell That's so true...you never know what kind of contracts they had with the record companies or who was really making the decisions for the band. Some people really think that any publicity is good publicity.

I find myself enjoying the tune in a "mindless" way (it's no In My Room or Please Let Me Wonder) but it's nice, sweet pop music and that's okay too.

  • Her singing is cute and the BB are awseome as always

  • Actually, "Annette's" singing is spot on. As cringe-worthy as it must have been at the time for great artists like the Beach Boys to appear in this low-budget flick, the shame never rubs off on great artists. They're like stainless steel: they still shine!

  • A real testament to The Beach Boys and Brian Wilson's genius is how they can perform such an excruciating song (with a tone-deaf Annette Funicello accompanying) and make it sound like a classic piece of music. Bravo! Another (and much better) Beach Boys' movie song is "Girls on The Beach", aka "Summer of '64", which is still unavailable on dvd.

  • @weightfeather1 No, that was the original Beach Party in 1963

  • This is the song for my dance for halloween

  • Awesome song and Annette gives me a stiffy.

  • an Italian American beauty hubba hubba!!

  • You mean you think Annette's vibrator is dirty?? hmmmmm....

  • @FOSEEBOY You took something wonderful and turned it into something dirty - how dare you

  • @mikethekhotmailcom Welcome to the internet, honey...

  • @FOSEEBOY Hahahahaha

  • @FOSEEBOY lol, it's kinda dirty. but you can't blame a fella :)

  • @FOSEEBOY Back then or now?

  • That is some fine piece of hotness. :D

  • Wow, Midvale could really pull in the talent!

  • Stupid song, but $@#^ing awesome "wee-ooh"s on the chorus - Brian Wilson salvages it

  • ''CALL US A COUPLE OF MISSIN LINKS''....

  • The brilliant Sherman brothers wrote this song intentionally parroting Brian's style. Even though he didn't write it, Brian's arrangements are as sweet as ever.

  • Great stuff! Looks like Dennis is singing in this live performance, rare indeed! He usually just sang in the studio. Annette was very HOT and popular then, especially to the teen and younger set that was Disney's audience. I was a good match, it worked well back then, I saw it in the theatre when it came out, I was 12 in 1965 and I loved it!

  • Wow thanks so much for posting this! I'm a brian / beach boys fan and never knew about this but the funny thing is I'm an animator so am seeing all these famous names related to animation Sherman, Miller etc flash up, is just wierd!!

    10/10!

  • That cute girl from the Mickey Mouse Club grew up to look like THAT!

God has been good to us!

  • According to WIkipedia, the film was released August 18, 1965. No telling when the song (sung by Annette Funicello backed by the Beach Boys) was recorded. By the time of the release, Brian Wilson was already at least contemplating the making of what would become Pet Sounds, but was still expected to churn out "Beach Boys" type music as it was known at the time.

  • Enjoyed it. Fun. Good cover.

  • Dig Brian's pose on 'a chimpanzeeeeee' :D

  • I love this Annette/Beach Boy team up. it's cute, it's fun.

  • This song IS 1965.

  • Annette does a great job on this song. The Beach boys does it for me. I Love thier sound. The 60s Fender gear is the icying on the cake. check out those Fender amps ! Carls white Jazzmaster is a dream for me.

  • I was kind of hoping that Annette would have replaced Mike Love as lead singer of the Beach boys when this tune came out.

  • Don't care what all the elitist music afficianados have to say. This is a rockin song

full blast "In my Car" cruisin Highway 1 past Malibu. Great guitar break and the video's with Annette is a romp. See you at Duke's by the bar where I sit and look

at surf memorabilia and be thankful I'm still alive to appreciate simple, good fun.

Kudos to Hal Blaine for some great back beat.

  • Proof that you didn't have to have much talent to be popular even back in the 60s. Not a very good song but it's ruined from any possible redemption by the singing, though we've got lots of people today who'd sound even worse if not for studio magic. Back then you couldn't fake it if someone had bad pitch. It was cheesiness like this that unfortunately led everyone to assume the Beach Boys were really square and they fell out of favour in the late 60s. Pet Sounds was ignored in America.

  • @journeythruthepast So the beach boys had no talent? That's what your saying?

  • @TheAmazingstarman No, no, no. Annette Funicello didn't have much musical talent is what I meant. You misunderstood me. The Beach Boys were indeed very talented, namely Brian Wilson. They made great music even when their popularity began to wane but their Disney appearance was one of those "only for the money and exposure" bits, like Elvis singing "Hound Dog" to an actual Hound Dog on The Steve Allen Show.

  • @journeythruthepast .....I think sometimes one can look too deep into something, Even if it was a money making exercise, its great to watch, a great song, and i am sure MIke Love liked watching Annettes tits swinging around in front of his eyes.

  • @journeythruthepast You seem to have all the answers don't you? You weren't even there! I have only one word to say about your comment...., WRONG! And if you reply insisting you still have it right I have only two words....WRONG AGAIN!

  • @libraryquiet Wow, settle down. Well we'll have to agree to disagree. Doesn't matter if I wasn't there. I can still dislike someone's musical abilities if I want. So if someone is born 20 years from now and think Nickelback sucks you can't make that call? (and if that offends you too, sorry). In what universe? I don't think highly of someone's musical opinion when they like what I don't like yet that's nothing personal at all. I just think the Beach Boys were way better than Annette Funicello.

  • @journeythruthepast I respect your opinion brother but it's when you (assume) that the listening public started losing interest in the Beach Boys for making appearances like this one. How do you know?! Like I said, you weren't there, I was. Back then it was exciting to have popular acts on TV shows and teen movies. It was a different time buddy. A time full of fun and possibilities. Long live Willie Mays, Jack Kirby and the Beatles!

  • @libraryquiet I didn't say the public started losing interest because of this. That's not what I meant at all. They started losing interest around 1968 because the Beach Boys weren't considered hip and their surf music was "square," though that was unfair. Pet Sounds was ignored despite its greatness. Mind you, Europe started taking the Beach Boys as seriously as the Beatles in 1966 and they thrived their. But amidst psychedelia and acid rock, US radio and record buyers tuned out. Their loss.

  • @journey thru the past My apologies. For somebody who wasn't there, everything you said in your latest reply...., is dead on! Yeah, alright.
