Some ppl get addicted to things and some don't. I took the watson 380's for a whole week last summer for lower back pain, and at the end of the week went on without them. What I don't like is after a couple days of taking vicodin, you get really really sleepy. You can sleep for a whole day. I don't like that.

These kids brains are smaller than "normal" children. What they failed to mention was that theyused ADHD kids that had all been on Ritalin for 2-3 years, and yes, shrinkage had occured-they wanted it for the study.

@1600Percent I agree. In my case my dr should have given me something strong w/o all the crap tylenol in it. I went to another dr and he changed my meds that same day. Why couldn't my dr have done that so as not to mess up my liver? My org dr had to know the intense pain I was in. That's why I kept going back to him....for increased pain. The prescription does not somehow magically confer "safe use" of this, or any other drug. Ultimately, "safe use" is the responsibility of the user, regardless of drug type. OTC Tylenol is a deadly liver toxin if used wrong. All a prescription can do is limit access to the drug, and make it more expensive to obtain.

After two months of complete sobriety, I had a slip up of only 4 days, where I was taking a relatively low dose of Hydrocodone only (50mg - 75mg per day). Two days after the cessation of use, I began to experience physical withdrawal symptoms, though mild.

Hydrocodone has allowed me to continue my life for the past eight years, following an accident. I will likely have to take it for the rest of my life, along with other pain control meds such as Nuerontin. I am able to be without the hydrocodone, when I can and I notice a slight feeling of fatigue for one day and they I am O.K. until the back pain flairs-up again. However, I never take more than three a day as prescribed. I am afraid of addiction.
2) As long as you're in pain, then the hydrocodone will act on the pain, & you won't get mentally "high", or psychologically addicted. I know from personal experience. It's the people who continue to take them after their injury has healed / pain is gone that develop psychological dependence. They're misusing them.

But if you've been on it for 8 years, then you WILL experience PHYSICAL addiction withdrawal symptoms if you were to quit suddenly – flu-like symptoms & a feeling of “something under your skin”. Some physicians who have never had any real pain themselves and like playing games will only prescribe the awful drug Tramadol. My entire family works in healthcare from doctors to nurses, and have never had any problems with patients abusing meds. If you're unlucky enough to be sitting in an office and being told Tramadol is your only option, tell Dr. Tramadol he just lost a patient and get some proper care. If you're on antidepressants and take Tramadol, get ready to be unbelievably sick.

The problem with using vicodin for treating psychological pain is that reward centers are involved and ends up becoming a loop.

@1600Percent I agree. In my case my dr should have given me something strong w/o all the crap tylenol in it. I went to another dr and he changed my meds that same day. Why couldn't my dr have done that so as not to mess up my liver? My org dr had to know the intense pain I was in. That's why I kept going back to him....for increased pain. Evan a friend of mine said it would be better to drip morphine down my spine than take that crap they were giving me!

The prescription does not somehow magically confer "safe use" of this, or any other drug. Ultimately, "safe use" is the responsibility of the user, regardless of drug type. OTC Tylenol is a deadly liver toxin if used wrong. All a prescription can do is limit access to the drug, and make it more expensive to obtain.

After two months of complete sobriety, I had a slip up of only 4 days, where I was taking a relatively low dose of Hydrocodone only (50mg - 75mg per day). Two days after the cessation of use, I began to experience physical withdrawal symptoms, though mild.

The liver damage comes from the Tylenol not the hydrocodone. Also be aware of hearing loss. That's right, you can go deaf from the Tylenol by popping a bunch of vics because there is simply so much Tylenol in every vicodin es pill (750mg).

Hydrocodone has allowed me to continue my life for the past eight years, following an accident. I will likely have to take it for the rest of my life, along with other pain control meds such as Nuerontin. I am able to be without the hydrocodone, when I can and I notice a slight feeling of fatigue for one day and they I am O.K. until the back pain flairs-up again. However, I never take more than three a day as prescribed. I am afraid of addiction.

It's the people who continue to take them after their injury has healed / pain is gone that develop psychological dependence. They're misusing them.

But if you've been on it for 8 years, then you WILL experience PHYSICAL addiction withdrawal symptoms if you were to quit suddenly – flu-like symptoms & a feeling of “something under your skin”. My entire family works in healthcare from doctors to nurses, and have never had any problems with patients abusing meds. If you're unlucky enough to be sitting in an office and being told Tramadol is your only option, tell Dr. Tramadol he just lost a patient and get some proper care. If you're on antidepressants and take Tramadol, get ready to be unbelievably sick.

After more than 6 years of every day use, I had to quit pot cold turkey, because I couldn't find it anymore. No withdrawals, not a single symptom. The whole time I was using it, I never even developed a cough. In fact, when I would feel a cold comming on, smoking it would help cold symptoms. I ride mountain bikes, and it didn't effect my lung capacity at all. The only reason it is still illegal is because it is a threat to Big Pharma. Check out Gwen Olson's vids about Rx drug pushers.

For instance, a psychiactric physician could claim an indivdiual without a family history of psychotic conditions has "psychosis" as a result of cannabis use -- because THC produces psychomimetic effects (i.e. paranoia, sensory disruption, etc)...

The reason you don't get addicted while taking vicodin for legit purposes is purely psychological. The reason you get addicted while taking vicodin for illegitimate purposes is also purely psychological. If you are treating pain, your brain knows the drug treats pain. If you are treating psychological pain, your brain knows the drug treats psychologicial pain. The problem with using vicodin for treating psychological pain is that reward centers are involved and ends up becoming a loop.

Cold water extractions can be done to remove the tylenol/ibuprophen/asprin (but not caffeine) thanks to the water solubility of hydrocodone and most other opiates.
