@xrikimarux Rangers by a lot of people are not even considered special forces. For the Army the Green Berets are better than the rangers. Though the rangers are technically special forces. Special forces wise the air force para-rescue and the navy seals have the hardest training.

The navy is just a series of political cliques, an anti-merit based system. The cheifs, officers, and petty officers only promote those that politically agree with them, and fuck over people with tallent, sending them TAD, etc. The end result? A "modern" navy that is held up for months by a couple of African tribesmen with dingies and AK-47s. Fucking pathetic!!!!
If you have your degree just go to OCS. Dont enlist. Like, just dont. I've been in for 2 years, came in as an E-3 and because the advancement sucks i'm still E-3.
Yeah, but so does every other person who is E-3 going to E-4, so you're competing against all of them. And, with the retention rate of the navy so high (no one wants to leave with the economy so shitty), it's really hard to advance.
If you ultimately want to go officer, just go officer to begin with. Don't try to do enlisted to officer.

Uh, yes I do. So before you come to conclusions about me maybe you should get to know me first. I wouldn't say that if I weren't on a ship myself. Naval Station Great Lakes is a training command, that's why it sucks so much. I would much rather be on the ship I'm on (a cruiser) than at GLKS.
The barracks was mostly ET's and FC's, with a few other random rates thrown in. It just made it easier for them to keep track of everyone. Also our SDC's (Student Division Commanders, they were in charge of the barracks) were ET's and FC's, so if we had any questions, they could help us out.
I was there during my time in great lakes. Kinda got freaked out when I heard Galion Ohio by a dude named James Corp, cause I grew up halfways between Galion and Bucyrus. When I was there one of my roomates grew up 5 minutes from my old house... Small fuckin world huh?
