Dahlie was just incredible. The man was a Cross Country Colossal. When he hugged that skier who finished last it was one of the finest examples of sportsmanship you will ever see. So powerful a gesture that the athlete "boit" named his child after Dahlie. His opponents shook with fear when the Nannestad express was breathing down their necks. His ice cool aura and timeless goggles have become images in the history books.
The ultimate athlete! If I remember correctly Bjørn had the highest VO2max values ever recorded in man.
BTW can anybody tell me what was the name of the Norwegian skier who had dominated in x-country skiing before Bjørn? I can't remember his name. There were 3 big names in the tracks in the 1990's, Dæhlie, Smirnov and that other guy...
yeah, i've already googled alberville and lillehammer results and found out...he was not a match for bjorn but still he used to be my childhood hero...funny that i forgot his name
@seahog32 Yeah, Dæhlie recorded an astounding 96 in VO2 max back in 1996 (off season though) - in comparison, Miguel Indurain, five time Tour de France winner, had 92 in VO2max. Pretty crazy.. :P
absolute top man.

We had several great x-country athletes during the 90's. But I guess you refer to Thomas Alsgaard.
Thomas Alsgaard is the second most winning norwegian in cross country.
